Having just returned from TW 11 Community Day, I can tell you that the following quote is SPOT ON for the Wii version:
Also on tap for "Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11" are two new swing mechanics to the Wii version of the game. According to EA, the Advanced Plus difficulty will assess rotation and swing angle, while the Tour Pro swing mechanic will assess rotation, swing plane, and point of contact. Tour Pro will also feature a new view for each swing, giving golfers a first-person camera angle from the tee box called True View.
It plays like a Golf simulator....

Except you're not swinging and actual club which takes a major aspect of simulation out of it.

Sorry swinging a Wimote or even adding a crappy plastic club to put the Wimote in is not only not simulating your golf swing with a club, it has a good chance of effecting your regular golf swing.

Anyone who tells you different is full of it. I'm sure they'll pay off some PGA Pro to endorse it though.

Don't say it plays like a golf simulator when you're:

1. Not swinging a club
2. Not hitting an actual ball

Tell me it looks like a golf simulator, reminds you off one. But don't sell me on fiction.

That's ridiculous and pretty damn arbitrary. Do flight simulators shake you around like you're flying in an actual plane? Most don't even use full flight controls. Do space sims have you in zero gravity?

I don't see how it's remotely a "fiction" to say that Tiger plays like a simulator.

Are they coming out with a golf club-like accesorry to swing instead of the Wii remote? That would seal the deal for me. Swinging a remote is just silly.

He said Golf Simulator, are you an avid golfer? When someone says it plays like a Golf simulator any avid golfer is going to immediately think of a real simulator where you hit different clubs and you know actually strike a ball.

You can say TW is a simulation of golf that's fine I won't argue. But to say swinging a Wimote is akin to getting in a Golf simulator is not correct IMO and your comparisons aren't really relevant.

They already have these but they are mini clubs. The ones i have seen aren't even as long as a sand wedge.

They give you more to hold on to then the Wimote but the ones i see the controller sits down near the head of the club so I am not sure how it would accurately judge for the new planes of movement TW11 is claiming to support.

Haha No.

I'll let it go after this last staement.

All I was trying to say is in a golf simulator I take out my club, hit a little white ball into a screen that registers trajectory, distance etc.

Not sure how someone can say swinging a Wimote is the same as that.

I wonder if EA Sports includes Project Natal support for TW 12 if it'll allow for actual club use. I can see it now reports around the country of broken ceiling fans and lights.

Jon Robinson: So making Tiger share the cover of his own game has nothing to do with the controversy?

Travis Sailer: No, not at all. Like I said, we had plans all along to do that, since really, last October when we figured out we were going to roll with Ryder Cup. We just thought that would fit perfectly on the cover. "Madden" did it last year and it worked out great for them, so we thought it would be perfect. It's not often in golf when you get to feature team play, but with the Ryder Cup, this just worked out perfect.
Yeah, okay.

As a single digit handicap golfer, I agree that swinging the Wimote and playing the game does not come close to actually hitting a golf ball. But it is what it is. A game that is fun and, imo, much better than just pushing a stick up and down as you do on the other consoles.

The statement that it is a simulator is going a little far.

Why don't you rent it when it comes out and then come back to me and tell me it doesn't simulate the golf swing....

Not that I am aware of.

And TW11 PS3 will support the new Sony motion controller once it is released.

I do like the fact you can play 12 on 12 online in Ryder cup play, although all 12 players don't play the first 2 days only in singles so unsure how that works.

Also I hope they got rid of that God awful announcing team.
