Is it wrong that I am a grown man and I am like a little kid on Christmas Eve waiting for the morning?

Big day for Diablo and the post office :D....BFBC2, MLB10 and my new Irons all arrive today. Again, I have issues :)

Irons? Do you mean like iron-on decals my mom used to put on my shirt? It take a while to save up the cereal box-tops, tho

Hmmm. Probably not as wrong as it was that i went to my local Gamestop last night at midnight to get it!

Only played one game but saw enough to know that this game is improved enough from last year to warrant my $$. In one game i saw a ton of new animations..everything from a check swing hop step to true "sliced" balls off the bat. The broadcast camera is absolutely amazing as many people have said. What a feel it gives you once the ball is in play. Awesome.

Quick question, did other versions have the ability for relievers to come in and throw warm up pitches from the mound once you bring them in? I don't remember ever doing that and last night when i brought a guy in from the pen i could throw up to 8 warm up pithces. You can skip past it, as i did after a couple of tosses, but it was pretty cool. Don't remember if that was there before and perhaps i just adjusted a gameplay option to not do it.

Only one thing bothered me and i'm hoping it was just a rare glitch...although it happened twice so.... I hit a hard slicing ground ball over the first base bag. The first baseman dove into foul ground behind the bag and snagged it. He got to his feet and lobbed the ball to the pitcher covering for the out. Problem was when he got to his feet (now keep in mind he was a few feet into foul ground) he was facing the first base coach and never actually turned to face the bag. So in essence his body was angled 45 degrees away from first and his arm motion was in the direction of the coach/dugout but the ball got thrown to the bag.

This also happened with Cano on a sharp grounder up the middle. He dove, grabbed it, and threw a strike to first but his body was facing left center field.

Other than those animation glitches, the game is the game. Saw great hit variety, heard some new commentary, the graphics appear to be upgraded, and all in all baseball season is back baby and i'm pretty damn excited.

Of course i leave for a 4 day work trip this morning so won't touch it again until the weekend. Friggin work. :x

Can someone tell me if the shadows have improved? In '09 Miller Park was a pain to play day games in because the shadows were a bit too much. They made the shaded areas so dark I could barely see the players.

Some disturbing stuff at OS regarding player movement, ease of claiming players off waivers and such. We'll see what happens. One guy's posting pics, one of which was news of the Yankees claiming Joe Mauer off waivers from the Twins. :?

Glad I generally just play a season and not a franchise. That does suck though for franchise owners!

the same. RTTS mode, for me

don't have interest in franchise mode, unless SCEA adds the option to add an expansion team and 'create a stadium'

LOL.

The guy posting that was playing as the Yankees -- he could claim Mauer if he wanted. The issue seems to be that the CPU won't pull players back. However, while the CPU made some waiver claims, they weren't anything as bad as this.

That's sloppy and would bug the hell out of me if I saw that. Sounds like something you would see in a 2K baseball game.

The difference between the two companies is significant as well. The Show guys are usually in all of the forums and they fix stuff the public finds...usually in a timely manner. I don't remember 2k ever doing that with any branch of their sports franchises.

Yeah but I seriously doubt they'll fix the animation problem Rally mentioned until next year.

Not to mention the player ratings (A-F) are completely screwed up! At least Russell has inquired about it in a separate thread and attempting to get a handle on the issue.

Again, this only is a problem for Franchise players, but it's an enormous error by the devs.

Thought I read those ratings were for potential and not overall ratings? Perhaps a low potential rating means not much room for improvement?

Had a chance to play about five innings until my son came downstairs and wanted to do something else.

Briefly, the game plays similar to the previous years, however the subtleties in my opinion really improve the enjoyment. First, the Real Time Presentation definitely give the feel of an authentic broadcast. At default, RTP is not on. Graphically, it has improved with a cleaner, crisper look. It just looks that much more realistic. There are more animations, including more errors. The game itself to me at least runs more smoothly if that's even possible. There's a bit more control in the field and at default, the outfielders move more gracefully, and faster. Hitting seems to be easier at default (veteran), or at least I seem to pick up the ball easier.

I'm definitely eager to get more games in this evening. If there's one negative, it's probably the presentation. Commentary needs to be redone. However, with that said, the crowd is really in to the game!

Very positive first impressions.

Be careful what you ask for, remember Madden? All they need to do is get rid of Rex Hudler who sounds like Danny Bonaduce and Dave Campbell who's lines have gotten old and tired.

To bad they couldn't just let Matt Vasgersian call the game by himself as it sounds so natural and like a radio broadcast. So my vote is keep Matt, get rid of Rex and Dave and find a new voice to compliment Vasgersian.

I've played two games so far....lost 9-1 in my 1st game and then 6-2 in my 2nd game. 16k's in game one so I thought I'd try and cut that down for game two...yeah that worked out well since I struckout 17 times in the 2nd game. Also, how do I transfer my game highlites? I saved them and then tried to copy to usb drive and put them on my pc but it keeps telling my that mp4 is an unknown file format and windows won't even open it nor will it find anything to open it with.

Never mind...figured out the video deal.

Don't fret over striking out too much. It happens especially to those who haven't played the series in a long time.

Couple other things of note. I'm not a huge fan of the broadcast view on offense. It's hard to see where the ball is hit. Maybe I'll get used to it.

I upped the Pitch Delay slider to "faster" and the CPU pitches with a better pace. This is a nice feature if you don't want to necessarily play on "fast play".

The ball really slices off the bat more this year than I can remember. It's a thing of beauty. Small things one will notice if you've played this game for the last few years.

One other thing. Throwing meter really does seem to make a difference. On one play that was lined down the third base line, David Freese fielded it, but I just tapped the button, and the throw was gingerly thrown across and the runner beat it out fairly easily. Outfield throws are the same way. It's nice to see that finally there's some disparity in arm strength.

Damn right, check this out from Kolbe SCEA team.

Franchise Issues UPDATE:

Here is our list of the current known issues that we're looking into for immediate attention:

Attendance:
Attendance is not correctly getting reported. In talking with Jeff, he has a fix in mind that is fairly safe but would end up in the actual attendance not mirroring the paid attendance you get in franchise. It would fix the issue where you have 50k+ people attending Spring Training games. This will also fix issues with playoff games and games played in any stadium that isnt your own.
* UPDATE - This was caused by the stadium select screen being added to franchise, causing the attendance to be reset using the non-franchise logic. The stadium select was previously never used for playoff games, so it didn't handle that situation. This is fixed and it also fixes the issue with spring training games showing the attendance as if they were in their home stadium.

Trade Waivers:
Users can claim anyone off of trade waivers - CPU teams will never pull them back.
* UPDATE - fixed this one - a simple fix that will prevent user teams from simply claiming everyone that was passed through trade waivers.

No Contract:
Players can get into a state where they have no contract.
* UPDATE - As soon as a player was placed on release waivers, his contract was cleared. Then if he was claimed, he didn't have a contract. It was also clearing his 40-man roster status, which is what was causing him to go to AAA instead of the MLB team. Have a fix for this.

Player Potential:
Looks like a fairly bad miscommunication ended up with us having some seriously out of whack potentials. This will be corrected with the next roster download (Monday)
* UPDATE - Lorne is taking care of this - will be fixed with a roster update.

Multi Closer issue:
If a CPU team has 2 closers (one acquired in a trade) - they will always send one down to AAA.
* UPDATE - It would just look at the closers and see that they had more than they needed so they'd send one down, but they wouldn't look to see if they could send down a reliever instead and keep the 2nd closer in the bullpen. Have a fix for this.

Multi Trade players:
Not even sure what the details are on this one, but it looks like sometimes a player is traded and then re-traded or waived. Currently investigating.
* UPDATE - I have a fix for the trades. I'll not allow a player to be placed on the trading block by the CPU if he has been acquired by a trade recently.

Manual Trade issue:
I've seen a few reports of users having trades set to Manual and still having trades done by the CPU. Again, no idea how this is happening and we're looking for more information.
* UPDATE - Not sure what's happening here, we can not get this one to reproduce. Whoever is getting this, please make sure that you dont have your profile option set to something different than your global setting. If you need to talk to me via PM or IM for further info, please just say the word!

If you respond, please please PLEASE do not be noise. We need clear help or silence - we want these things cleared up as much as you do!

_____________________________________________________________________The SCEA team is amazing. The game hasn't even been out for 12 hours and they're fixing the inevitable bugs that slipped through the cracks. I know a lot of people will say things like this shouldn't have been there, but let's face it, every game has it's share of problems at release and beyond, especially in franchise/dynasty modes. But few, if any, would see this kind of prompt response.

This dev team is second to none when it comes to sports video games. I know they've taken some flack in the past when they've disappeared when issues arose, but they've really tried in keep the lines of communication open. This is tremendous news.
