Congrats to Canada. They were the better team today in all areas besides goalie. I am happy for them, but it's a hard way to lose. Miller was awarded the mvp and he deserved it for sure. Going to be a fun night to be a Canadian! I wonder if this tournament has made Canada take notice of American hockey? My guess is no.
US wins the medal count, Canada sets a new record for gold medals at a Winter Olympics (though there are a heck of a lot more sports in the Winter Games now).
All-in-all a pretty damn good Olympics for the only country not to win a single gold as host of two prior Olympics.
Best wishes,
Doug

One final thought: Bettman still wants to remove the NHL players from the Olympics after this?
It would be typical Bettman.

Yes I was super excited when they notched it up for about 5 minutes then I recalled it was 4 on 4 and I had a sinking feeling.RallyMonkey wrote:Sick to my stomach a bit...tough loss, but you had to know that once it went to 4 on 4 in OT Canada would have the edge.
Still good showing and it's too hard to be upset at Canada, I meant Christ they gives us strong beer, easy women and have my favorite anthem.

Team USA has nothing to be ashamed of. As I posted earlier, you guys are the ones to watch in future Olympics. Miller, Suter, Kesler, Parise, the base is there. Your time will come.
This is a big party. From Yonge street in Toronto to Robson street in Vancouver. This is as patriotic as I've seen this country in a long while, from coast to coast. Enjoyed this Olympics experience much more than what I anticipated. The city has changed forever. The closing ceremonies will be awesome tonight.
I am going to Hockey house now and enjoy it with the rest of the loonies.

World Junior champion: check
Youngest captain in NHL: check
Stanley cup champion: check
Olympic Champion: check.
Crosby might as well retire now!
Most exciting game I've ever seen I think, no doubt helped by national pride.
After we hit two posts in the third, I thought that was game over.......
Congrats to the US for putting up a fight at the end.
We had a basement full singing Oh Canada after the game!

I tend to think it's much more the owners of the clubs than Bettman who are resistant, and the fact that it will be in far away Russia is an easy excuse. It would be a real shame if it doesn't happen, and you know all the Russian players will go anyway. It may actually push some of them to leave the NHL that year and play in the KHL instead, so they owners better watch out for unintended consequences of a small-minded decision if they can't see the big picture.pk500 wrote:One final thought: Bettman still wants to remove the NHL players from the Olympics after this?

The Olympic hockey tournament is one of the great team sports events in all the world, I am convinced, and this one lived up to that. Some great, great games, tons of heart and fight, and the two USA - CAN games are probably two of the most memorable and thrilling hockey games I've seen.
I hope the USA players can look back in a while and realize they have nothing to be ashamed of. That equalizer was a thrilling feeling for me watching it on TV; just amazing. It just doesn't get better than that. I love sports!

Too bad you don't live in Toronto - got a whole house full of loonies here you could come join us!!!! My brother-in law completely lost his s*** when Crosby scored, was hilarious - jumped off the couch, had already had more than a few in him, slipped and fell on his ass. Didn't stop celebrating for one second. Nutcase.10spro wrote: I am going to Hockey house now and enjoy it with the rest of the loonies.
I'm in downtown Toronto and it is LOUD outside - lots of people on the street, cars honking, etc. If you didn't know how much hockey means to Canadians. Wow. I'm a few blocks from Yonge and Dundas and they've closed the street down!
Amazing job by Team USA though, what a performance and what heart - if they had of won in overtime I don't think many Canadians could complained - they were awesome.
Also, as doug said, with that gold Canada sets the records for most golds in a Winter Olympics!
Anyway, time to hide the computer and go party some more!!

Yes ..kinda yes and yes!Zeppo wrote:

I think the owners listen to scarey gary...Thats why they hired him cause they think he knows marketing ...

If Betman fucks this up I will find him and cut his tiny lil balls off
