Yes, that David Garrard was on the All-Pro Team. . .

Post by tmdba37 »

Titans 56 Jaguars 14

David Garrard and the Jacksonville Jaguars show up in Tennesse and promptly throws four INTs and leaves with their less than stellar 1-11-1 record intact.

It's probably a bad thing when you leave a game thinking you only had four INTs. . .it probably should have been 8. . .

The Jaguars' Defense actually showed up for most of the first half. . .the game was scoreless going into the two-minute warning. . .the Titans finally putting a long drive together and scored first with 1:38 left in the half. . .

Then Garrard and his errant throwing showed up. . .first, tossing a TD to Cortland Finnegan (Highlight is unavailable due to being snipped). . .

With 1:10 left. . .you'd think that the Jacksonville CPU Coach would sit on the ball and maybe run it with MJD (Only 11 runs for 58 yards) but they trusted poor ol' DG again. . .who throws a perfect spiral right to Chris Hope:

<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/127. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>

Titans end up scoring again after this play and suddenly find themselves in the lead 21-0.

The second half turned into a rout mostly because Jacksonville didn't use Maurice Jones-Drew effectively (only getting a big play TD late in the 4th on his one and only reception) and giving Tennessee a short field time and again. . .and of course all of the those INTs. . .like Garrard's second TD strike to Cortland Finnegan in the Third:

<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/127. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>

That made the score 35-7. . .a bunch of scoring in the 4th, but mostly because of onside kicks or failed 4th Down Attempts by the Jaguars.

Ultimately, the Jaguars probably aren't as bad as this or as their record shows, their Defense is potentially really good/talented. . .but their offense is really, really bad, and when the CPU isn't smart enough to run MJD more than 11 times and waits until the end of the 4th to throw him the ball. . .I mean there's not much you can do to help them out at that point. . .

The 11-2 Titans next host Danimal and the Denver Broncos. . .then finish up the year with games against the Texans and the Raiders. . .

The Jags will try to throw some picks to the Texans next week, Brando, get your DB's ready for a fun afternoon/evening of turnover bliss. . .

LOL at Todd about the Jaguar interceptions. My first game I kept wondering where my Garrard interceptions were, and he finally obliged by throwing two pick-sixes in the last two minutes.

Inside the DSPNFL, brought to you by Greasemonkey!

Top 5 offenses (yards per game):
1) Titans 434
2) J-E-T-S 416
3) Raiders 407
4) Bears 361
5) Saints 347

Notable stat: The top 3 teams are also averaging 40 ppg.

Worst human offensive team:
30) Texans 265 -- doh!

Top 5 rushing teams (ypg):
1) Steelers 233
2) Titans 201
3) Raiders 150
4) Cowboys 147
5) Panthers 135

Notable stat: The Steelers and Titans are averaging 7+ yards per rushing attempt!

Notable stat 2: Despite having the highest scoring team in the league, the Jets average a Cedric Houston-esque 3.3 yards per carry.

Worst human rushing team:
23) Rams (76 ypg/3.4 ypc)

Top 5 passing teams:
1) J-E-T-S 329
2) Bears 269
3) Chargers(!) 258
4) Raiders 256
5) Falcons (!!!) 254

Notable stat: Unlike the rushing leaders, where the first CPU team is at #11, 5.5. of the top 10 passing teams are CPU teams (with the .5 being the cyborg Colts).

Notable stat 2: Steelers are the least-sacked team with just 7 sacks allowed, while the Texans have allowed a drooling-vegetable-producing 54.

Worst human passing team:
32) Steelers 99

Top 5 defenses (yards allowed per game):
1) Cowboys 225
2) Raiders 231
3) J-E-T-S 248
4) Bears 280
5) Redskins 293

Notable stat: The Raiders are giving up just under 9 points per game, while the 49ers are the worst human team an ppg allowed at 29, although that's in part due to partial CPU ownership. Of teams controlled all season by humans, the Browns have given up the most at 24 ppg.

Notable stat 2: The Bears have a whopping 55 sacks, with the Jets being a distant second at 42. The Rams are the worst human pass rushers with 12, while surprisingly the Raiders are third-worst among human teams, tied with the Redskins for 17 sacks.

Worst human defensive team:
28. Steelers 348

Turnover diff:
1) Raiders +31(!!! 9 TOs, 40 forced turnovers)
2) Jets +16 (20/36)
3) Redskins +14 (13/27)
4) Cowboys 13 (9/22)
5) Bucs 12 (15/27)

Notable stat: Panthers are the only team in the top 5 for turnovers produced (31) and in the bottom 5 for turnovers allowed (dead last with 38 turnovers)

Worst human turnover diff:
32) 49ers -18

I love that stuff!! Thanks Brando!

Interesting bit about the Cowboys' yardage per game...knew they were good but didn't know they were that good.

Steelers never being sacked goes hand in hand with them running every snap and throwing only when absolutely necessary I think.
Brando70 wrote:Notable stat: The Steelers and Titans are averaging 7+ yards per rushing attempt!
Holy bloody hell. 8O

As far as Oakland goes--Quarterback has thrown something like 36 touchdowns and only 6 picks, 2 of which were 'hit and wounded duck flutterballs'. That's been the big thing all season--if you don't turn the ball over against Oakland, you'll be in it until the end. If you do, you'll be looking at 14 or 21-point deficits in a hurry.

And the sacks--I don't control DL and don't like to blitz all that much. I'd rather suffocate the wideouts, force somebody to go all the way down the field, and give me one of those turnovers!

Brando,

Thanks for pulling this together. . .this extra stuff really makes being part of this league a lot of fun. . .

You can directly attribue the Titans being number one in Offense to Chris Johnson's 8.7 yards per carry. . .and 22 runs over 20 yards so far this year. . .he'll probably end up with 2,200 rushing yards and ~2,800 yards in total.

The stats available through Greasemonkey are pretty interesting. They help me understand where I need to improve, although I have yet to figure out how to keep my line from leaking like a burst dam. I'm really hoping some of you lose some quality offensive linemen to free agency :D

It's also amazing that some guy using Greasemonkey can do the online franchise stat tracking far better than the Madden team.

I can't even log into the website anymore, says my user name and password are invalid.

As for the OF the fact that the madden team talked about doing improvements since it was "server based" and didn't do anything. As a matter of fact they ran and hid, is telling.

This means one of two things is going to happen:

1. They are going to blow out online franchise this year and tout it as a new feature.

2. It's not important enough to them to invest time in, they can't micro-transaction it.

I'm hoping for #1, but even if that is the case they will probably leave out important stuff anyway.

From late Sunday night Pittsburgh outlasts Baltimore 35-31.

After the Ravens scored on their opening drive the Steelers answered with a 94 yard kickoff return from Santonio Holmes that led to a Willie Parker 1 yard td and then Pittsburgh took the lead immediately after that with an int return from James Harrison:
<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/127. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>

Baltimore would tie it up and eventually take a field goal lead into haltime. No scoring in the third quarter. Fourth quarter saw the Steelers finally retake the lead on a 22 yard td run from LeRon James. Baltimore answered back with a 53 yard td run from Willis McGahee. After the Steelers again retook the lead on a 2 yard run from Willie Parker Baltimore scored on this 52 yard pass from Joe Flacco to Justin Harper:
<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/127. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>

With under a minute to go in the game and all 3 of their timeouts left, Pittsburgh decided to give Willie Parker the ball one final time before resorting to passing to get within field goal range and Willie who was held to 89 yards up until this point came through with a 74 yard score that would put Pittsburgh up for good:
<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/127. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>

Joe Flacco was named player of the game before Willie's big run at the end of the game going 17 of 28 for 248 yards, 3 tds and 1 int. Willie Parker finished with 163 yards on 19 carries and 3 tds. Next up the Steelers host the undefeated Jets while the Ravens will host the Bengals.

Brando I do believe this is helpful info for the draft and not just cheapshots taken at the lamo lammies.
Brando70 wrote: The Rams are the worst human pass rushers with 12
No pass rush??? Now you have given away the secret of my defense as no pressure on the qb usually means no defensive stops...

Need to work on that in a big way.
Brando70 wrote:

Id like to blame much of this on EA due to Jackson's seemingly weekly injury problems as Makino has rushed for 113 on 51 carries(2.2)... but Steven hasnt exactly lit the world on fire when he has played with 760 yds on 186 carries (4.1).

Offensive line also needs a bit of work.

Washington Redskins 49 - Philadelphia Eagles 6

In the second meeting in three weeks between division rivals Washington and Philadelphia, the Redskins warmed to the home field advantage early and ran away with a game that was not competitive from the start. At the end of the first quarter, the score was 21-0 thanks to three first quarter interceptions from Kerry Collins, two that were returned for scores. Collins threw 4 interceptions before the game was done.

Clinton Portis ran for a 10 yd per carry average, totaling 122 yds on the ground and one 37 yd TD run. Rookie WR Clayton Roberson, playing for the injured Santana Moss, caught 5 balls for 86 yds including a 58yd TD pass from Jason Campbell in the 3rd quarter that put the score to 42-6 and ended the day for most of the Redskins starters.

Despite giving up 289 yds passing to the Eagles, the Redskins defense was in control of the contest from the beginning. Philadelphia went 2-9 on 3rd down, and could only muster two field goals on the day. The score was already 7-0 when the Redskins' offense finally took the field, and they had a short distance to go to make the score 14-0 thanks to Collins's 2nd interception of the game.

The 9-4 Redskins now prepare to host the Chicago Bears, leaders of the NFC North, but questions remain about the ability of the two owners to connect online. This game may have to be simmed, and it could impact the ability of the Redskins to get into the post-season for the first time in the DSPFL.

Some highlights:

<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/127. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>
Laron Landry steps in front of a Kerry Collins pass in the 1st quarter and returns it for the score, the second 'pick six' of the first quarter by the Redskins defense.

<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/127. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>
Brain Orakpo with the first of his two sacks in the game.

<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/127. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>
Clinton Portis continues his strong season with this 37yd TD run in the 3rd quarter.

<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/127. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>
Rookie WR Clayton Roberson shows his potential, taking this short pass from Jason Campbell and turning it into a 58 yd TD score in the 3rd quarter.

<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/127. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>
2nd year OLB/DE Brian Orakpo continues his strong season, evidenced by this big hit on McCoy in the 4th quarter.

PANTHERS BLAST CARDINALS

The Carolina Panthers went into their Week 14 game in the DSPFL against the once feared Arizona Cardinals minus their starting QB Delhomme and starting RB Williams. What looked like a good matchup for the aggressive and dangerous cpu Cards, quickly turned into a show of total domination. Backup QB Josh McCown was given the task of handing the ball off to the backup RB Jonathon Stewart. Stewart once again showed why the Panthers are comfortable with him in the backfield. Stewart gashed the Cards on 107 yards rushing on 15 carries that included 2 TDs in the first half and 2 TDs in the second half on 3rd down runs after being removed from the game in favor of 3rd string RB M. Goodson, who also scored once and ran for 68 yards. McCown hit rookie WR S. Lucious on a 31 yard pass for his only TD pass. The TD catch was the second for the rookie WR, who is starting to show why the Panthers drafted him.

Taking a 28-3 lead into the half, the Panthers coaching staff leery of any more injuries to their starting offense, removed their remaining starters and primary players. However, it was the defense that stepped up in the 3rd quarter, returning two errant Kurt Warner passes to pay dirt to extend the Panther lead. It should also be noted the play of MLB Beason who had ten tackles and one interception. The Panthers were able to take a 56-6 lead into the 4th quarter, before the Cardinals scored another meaningless FG and two meaningless touchdowns to make the final score 56-23. The coaching staff was also able to take a look at their free agent rookie QB Patrick Palmer. The rookie completed 2 of 6 passes for 11 yards and threw one interception in mop up duty in the second half.

While the Panthers coaching staff may not be missed in Big D, the way Jimmy Johnson was missed after his departure, the fans of the Carolina Panthers are more than happy to have them after their 0-3 start. The Panthers coaches mantra has been, "As long as we continue to take the ball away from the the other team and capitalize on those turnovers, it doesn't matter when we give it up, because we feel we can get it right back."

The coaching staff is full aware that since their takeover they have benefited from a soft CPU schedule, and know they have a tough row to hoe coming up in the final three games of the season as they face the 9-3 Browns, the Saints and the currently 7-5 Rams. "We expect our toughest games of the season coming up and it'll be even tougher without our main weapons. However, our guys will be ready to play and we hope to take strong momentum going into the playoffs. "

Broncos 21 - Rams 10

I'd love to give you a recap with stats and highlights but since I can't access EA Sportsworld or the Online Franchise site i can't.

I have no confidence my problem is going to be fixed which is going to spell trouble for the off season.

That's really weird. I had a problem last week where I couldn't log in, but it went away after a couple of days. And I saw the record of your Rams game and one highlight (a screen pass from James to Moreno for a TD) in your profile.

Hope EA can fix it.

I tried having all records destroyed. The game was not anywhere near as close as the score. It was pretty ugly from where I sat.

Good game Dan...Ill see you in the super bowl!....the season after next. 8)
