Uncharted 2: Among Thieves

I did finally beat the last level on hard. While I didn't like that level, the overall game was really something and deserves the praise it received. It was the best integration of cinematics and action I've ever seen, to the point where it's an interactive movie as much as it is a game.
I liked it more than the first one, which is saying something. The story was more coherent and it didn't have the same jarring shift in tone that the first one had. The interaction with objects was also very well done. My only complaint other than the final level is that I wish there had been more reason to be stealthy. It's kind of ridiculous that game after game has a character or two taking out entire armies of bad guys.
All in all, though, one of the best games of this generation, with the train levels being some of the best levels ever.

Finished it on Hard a couple of days ago.
Again, amazing game. Like others have mentioned, I didn't like the gimmicky way I had to beat the last boss, but still, great great game.
BTW, I've been playing some co-op missions online with random fellows, it's pretty sweet.
If anyone wants to play some online, let me know.

wzup Fletch. Will keep it in mind (have yet to play). Thank you for the wordfletcher21 wrote:Best game I've ever played, going back to the NES days. I saw mention in here of DLC, but nothing about it. Is there any DLC, or any planned? Uncharted 3 can not get here fast enough! Definitely worth the PS3 + game price to experience this game.

I believe the DLC is all online related. Not 100 percent sure though. Did you ever play through the first one? Drake's Fortune was very good, but the second blows it out of the water.fletcher21 wrote:Best game I've ever played, going back to the NES days. I saw mention in here of DLC, but nothing about it. You owe it to yourself to check it out, if you have ever liked Tomb Raider style exploration games. Keep in mind, it's a short game. If you are the kinda guy who plays a game once, then doesn't touch it again, I'd say it's a rental for sure. If you like to play a game, then play thru it a few more times then it's a purchase for sure. It takes around 10-12 hours to beat the game the first time, and that's with watching all the movies, and not knowing exactly what to do. 60 bucks for a game you could beat in a week of solid playing may not be worth it to some people. I for one am glad I bought it, as I will play it many times thru again. Uncharted 1 is available for 20 bucks used, and it's a very solid game in it's own right, though Uncharted 2 is clearly superior. You can not go wrong with the Uncharted series, and you'll know after 15 minutes of play time if it's for you or not.vinny-b wrote:wzup Fletch. Will keep it in mind (have yet to play). I know I am in the minority but I'll take the first over the second. The second has way too much gun play for me and a really wonky cover system. Still a superb game, but there was just a better balance of puzzle / gun fight in the first one to me anyway.sportdan30 wrote: I believe the DLC is all online related. Not 100 percent sure though. I finally got into Uncharted 1, and I am very underwhelmed. I'd say Uncharted 2 is one of the top 3 games I've ever played. Uncharted 1 is pretty bad in comparison to 2. I am really glad I picked up Uncharted 2, because if my only experience with the Uncharted franchise was the first, I never would have given 2 a chance. What is with Uncharted 1? It's not even that fun, and if you take away Drake you would almost be hard pressed to know that it was the same game Uncharted 2 was based on. Enemies taking 6 rounds to bring down, even if 2 are head shots and they have no armor on whatsoever? I know it's not a simulation, but when a guy gets knocked back 5 times from a 9mm handgun and still stands, that's a deal breaker to me. Not only that, but when they are hit, they kind of fall back in a way that makes follow up shots harder to land. I am 35% thru the game and honestly don't know if I will ever go any further. It's just not fun like Uncharted 2 is. Definitely feel a bit upset about the purchase, even though it was 20 bucks used. I got Metal Gear Solid 4 for 14 bucks used, and it's a steal of a deal at that price! Uncharted 3 can't come soon enough!

You shouldn't be surprised.
Most if not all of us say that UC 2 was a super upgrade over an already fantastic UC 1.

Holy freakin' late
Without really going into spoilers or anything, both of the Uncharted games managed to completely change up the enemies at the end and ruin a lot of the cool factor for me.
Absolutely loathed their little switcharoo that they pulled in both games, but overall that was a great game, yeah.

Yeah...I completely forgot about it after some other games came out. Oh well...just popped it in tonight cuz I knew I only had a few chapters to go and I wanted to finish before Heavy Rain and MLB come out. The PS3 will be busy next month. Still got ME2 and BS2 to get through as well. Too many games.TCrouch wrote:Holy freakin' late![]()

And yes...I agree about the enemy switcheroo. It's put me off too...tho in #2 it wasn't nearly as blatant and jarring. Maybe it's because we've seen it before. Oh well...it is only a small dent in an otherwise really damn good game.

Yeah that was not fun.Spooky wrote:I still haven't gotten past the train part...
I never finished the game I got to the part with the water and thunder and lighting and I actually got motion sick to the point I threw up. I've never gotten motion sick in my life, never mind a game and I've just not had the urge to see if it was a one time thing.
I think I was close to the end too.

I can relate to motion sickness feeling. Until you experience it first hand, it's hard to understand. I got real dizzy and had this awful sick feeling playing Uncharted: Drake's Fortune when they are riding in the wave runner. It took every ounce of not quitting on the game at that particular scene.
That's pretty much how i felt. I was kind of expecting it for a few reasons. The most obvious being that I had played the first one. Also, you could see where the story was going. They made a point of building up to it. There was foreshadowing throughout the story.Brando70 wrote:I agree that the shift in #2 didn't bother me that much. That's probably because of the first game, but also because I thought it fit the storyline better than the shift in Uncharted 1 (which reminded me of the shift in Far Cry).
Still, those enemies were just annoying and I'd prefer it if they would just leave that kind of stuff out next time.

Luckily, they were only in the last three chapters of the game, so it's not THAT big of a deal really...but you're right, if they just skip that part of the game, I'd be fine with it. But then again, at least this time it was part of a pretty good story, so at least it fits this time. Last time it just stuck out because it didn't fit at all.LAking wrote:Still, those enemies were just annoying and I'd prefer it if they would just leave that kind of stuff out next time.
I must be the only one that's so bent over the inclusion of stuff like that. It's like finding a supermodel that wants to take you to bed, then finding out she has green teeth. I just can't quit looking and thinking about that grill.
Even if they had guys in body armor or something a bit more "normal" it wouldn't be so bothersome.

There's a reason they invented the reverse cowgirl, doggie style and the BJ...TCrouch wrote:I must be the only one that's so bent over the inclusion of stuff like that.
