I was wondering how long you were going to drag out the inevitable. LOL. Congrats on your purchase man.

Hehe. I was starting to sense the dread in some of you guys constantly seeing comments or questions on this very topic. I'm very happy with my purchase.

Last post, I promise. I exchanged the Gateway today for an "open item" Mac Book with the Core 2 Duo Intel Chip, 2.0 ghz, 80 gb, and 1 gb of ram. My plan is to run boot camp, purchase Parrallels, and still be able to load my company software on this laptop through Windows. I'm much much happier, as it's a heck of a lot more portable, smaller footprint, and just feels solid.

Obviously, I paid more than I initially had planned, but I feel as though I got a pretty good deal. Put a bow on this, as this a wrap.

Thanks again guys.

Need help pronto. Friends computer crashed and need a very inexpensive solution. Primary needs are pretty basic, but reliability is a must as is decent speed. Desirable out of pocket is under $500.

This appears to be a decent option from what i've found. Thoughts on this and suggestions on others? Any help is appreciated.

Did you check newegg.com? You're going to get a wider selection and probably better prices than WalMart, and the shipping is bullet-quick.

Laptops are a dime a dozen. Find one in the price range you prefer, then purchase. They are all using the same components for the most part. My only suggestion would be to stick with Intel Core 2 processors as opposed to Celeron and AMD iterations. And make sure you get AT LEAST 3GB of ram if you're running Windows 7.

Lenovo has been dealing lately. Check their website for any new deals. Contrary to popular beliefs Dell still has good bang for the buck. I own several and rarely have any issues with them.

If your not planning on using it for any games, i'd suggest going with the Intel 4500 GPU, it's decent for light gaming and geared for video, music playback, web etc.
