Part of me would like to see the next game in London. It would be fun to climb St Pauls, the Tower and London Bridge. Not sure what time period I would set the game.

Apparently, the next game will be in the same setting, with Ezio still as the main character. Not sure I understand why, but whatever. II was so good, I don't care. But what I'd like to see in the next game is online co-op throughout the story; another of the animus subjects joining forces with Desmond. I think that'd rock.

I would guess they are going for the same setting because they want to get the game out in 2010, so the time spent on the game is somewhat limited. I forget where I read that but it was one of those articles about how the big game publishers are sticking with the big franchises and dropping the lower tier games - even if they made some money.

Finally gonna dig into this game with my gamefly copy on the way.

Also, to be more specific, AC III is to be set in Rome.

I borrowed this game a couple of days ago and started playing it. Never played the 1st one so I'm still a bit lost and looking for the meaning of what I'm doing.

But it IS a continuation of the time and events in II, right? With Ezio?

Yes.
During its third quarter financial conference call, Ubisoft revealed that the next Assassin's Creed adventure would see Ezio revisiting Rome, taking the fight to the Templar, when he's not busy taking out his friends online.

Finished this yesterday, and while I think it's a very good game, I really didn't like the Back to the Future II ending. They should have just put up a screen that said, "See you in Assassin's Creed III!"

Didn't finish it yet, but I think they undercut the power of the story in many ways with the back-and-forth timelines.

I agree. I think the whole front story is completely unnecessary.

The main story of Ezio and his quest for revenge was great. Loved the intrigue of being in medieval Italy and caught in the various power struggles. But (without giving things away too much) the overall story arch and The Truth seemed rather silly to me, as if the writers had gotten way too stoned while listening to Styx's "Come Sail Away." :D
