This impresses the hell out of me.vader29 wrote:I will fully admit to being gun shy after leading the league in interceptions last year plus my team is deep at the running back position now so I don't feel the need to attempt many passes in a game but I do have to improve in the passing game for times when the run is shut down as it was in the Kansas City game.Danimal wrote:

Been trying to figure out how you changed in ability so much from one season to the next, and a conscious coaching decision to move to the run is a very nice job of strategic change. Didn't know if you just practiced or what, but understanding your weaknesses and doing everything to limit them is a helluva coaching job, video game version or not!
In a game for the ages...The dark ages that is...The Rams(playing without the often injured aka EA ass f***ed Steven Jackson) punt only once cause they turn it over 5 times(4 ints and a bonus fumble) but the lambs still manage to hold off the worst CPU team( Seahawks to those who havent had the pleasure of playing them) in the game 24-14.
The Rams violated league rules by locking down the locker room and burning all tape of the game. They did however release a statement.
Damnnnnnnnnnn...Mother f***er!...We suck!

Looks like the Jets - Bears game is the only owner game that didn't get player, I guess MW2 took priority last night
So I'll flip Monday night on my return, I suggest getting the game in before Monday because the minute I get to a 360 I am flipping it.

Jets over Bears at Soldier Field, 31-7 in what was initially a taut, scoreless, defensive affair. The Jets eventually pulled away by mirroring their real-life counterparts, focusing on the ground game, defense, and just a tiny dollop of Sanchez.
Midway through the 2nd quarter, Lito Sheppard picks off Cutler and takes it all the way for six:

Good game, Slumber. Sorry for the grouchiness, but it's hard to enjoy a game when you flat-out suck.
I really need to start playing outside the league again, or I'm going to keep having my lunch handed to me.
Good luck the rest of the way.

Steelers fall to the Bengals 24-21.
Knew it wasn't going to be a good game when the second play of the game from the Bengals was this 74 yard run from Cedric Benson:

Pittsburgh played from behind the whole game and had to rely on their passing game to get back in it in the fourth quarter but were unable to get within field goal range with 2 possessions in the final 2 minutes of the game.
Cedric Benson finished with 111 yards on 22 carries and was the player of the game. Next week Pittsburgh travels to New England while the Bengals host the Falcons.

Texans Lasso Eagles, Win 51-21
HOUSTON - Coach Brando had about enough from his offense. After seeing that his team was last in the league in yards per game, he confronted his offensive players in the shower, calling them a bunch of lollygaggers and throwing a handful of helmets at them.
The approach appeared to work as the Houston Texans delivered their best offensive performance of the season, punting but once and scoring on nine of their eleven possessions, en route to a 51-21 victory over the visiting Eagles.
Houston jumped out to a 17-0 lead by scoring the first three times they touched the ball. Matt Schaub connected with rookie receiver Grant Gallon for a 21-yard score, Steve Slaton found paydirt on a four-yard touchdown run, and Kris Brown boomed a 53-yard field goal as the Texans offense roared to life. Even when Philadelphia answered with a touchdown drive to make it 17-7 with a minute to go before the half, Brian "Black Lightning" Witherspoon returned the kickoff 54 yards into Philly territory, allowing Schaub to lead the Texans to another touchdown on a 10-yard strike to Andre Johnson.
Houston quickly put the game away for good in the third quarter. Running back Ryan Moats delivered a 48-yard touchdown run to make it 31-7:

On the Eagles next drive, rookie safety Will Barkley drilled running back LeSean McCoy, forcing a fumble that Houston cornerback Dunta Robinson scooped up and returned for a score:

The Eagles would add two late scores against Houston's second-string defense, but Philadelphia was never in the game. Schaub finished 16-23 for 230 yards and two touchdowns, with tight end Owen Daniels hauling in five catches for 92 yards. The Texans running backs ran over the Eagles defense, rushing for a combined 149 yards on 28 carries and adding three scores. Robinson also had an interception to go with his fumble return and was the player of the game.
The Texans host the CPU Chargers next while Philadelphia visits Jacksonville.

49ers 41 - Falcons 17
The 49ers run over the Falcons in this one, the game wasn't even as close as the score would indicate. In a rare show of sportsmanship/mercy, the 49ers coach settled for a couple FGs late in the game rather than push to the end zone for some more TDs.
Heeding advice from their rival coach across the bay, the 49ers focused on running the ball. Led by Frank Gore who had 214 yards and 2 TDs on 22 carries. Gore had TD runs of 65 and 59 yards.
The 49er defense held the Falcons to 48 yards rushing on 19 carries, while intercepting Matt Ryan 3 times. The final INT was a pick six with about 32 seconds left in the game. Asked about the late TD return, the 49er coach responded, "my sportsmanship only goes so far."
The 49ers have now started the year with 2 losses, 2 wins, 2 losses, and 2 wins. They will look to break that pattern against Carolina next week.
And they are hoping the rival Rams help us both out this week and create a 3-way tie atop the NFC West. Go Rams, we're all counting on you... no pressure.

Who are the Chefs?
Titans 77 Chiefs 10
Sometimes you just do everything right. . .
The Titans eviscerate the Kansas City Chiefs on a special Wednesday Night Dinner Hour DSPFL Special Event.
The game featured a record-setting performance by RB Chris Johnson, who carried the ball 21 times for 324 Yards and 5 TDs. . .
The Titans Offense (686 Total Yards) hit on all cylinders and then some as McNabb had the perfect day (158.3 QBR) going 16-19 for 265 Yards and 3 TDS.
Receiving wise, Brian Westbrook had another solid day catching the ball out of the backfield grabbing 6 balls for 105 yards and 2 TDs. . .Kenny Britt also had a solid day with 2 catches for 84 yards, both big plays finding the end zone. RB Javon Ringer closed out the scoring two TDs in relief of his record-setting teammate.
The Titans Defense was stellar outside of the meaningless 10 points scored late in the 4th by Kansas City. . .getting 5 sacks and 5 turnovers. . .Stephen Tulloch battered Larry Johnson and co. with 9 tackles. . .
They held poor Matt Cassell to a 18-34 day. . .he racked up 271 yards and a TD with 4 INTs and a fumble lost. . .the only bright spot (if you can call it that) for the Chiefs was Larry Johnson who had 101 hard running yards on 21 carries. . .(so indeed CJ out ran three times as far as poor ol' LJ). . .
To the highlights. . .
After fumbling on the first possession, Cassell gets greedy and throws an awful Interception to SS Chris Hope:
<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>
Chris Johnson struck early and often. . .but wowed the KC crowd with this 84 yard run:
<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>
Brian Westbrook shows that he still has some speed catching a short pass and cutting back to the middle of the field scampering 54 yards to the end zone:
<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>
Chris Johnson scores his 4th TD going 17 yards virtually untouched into the end zone:

Johnson sets the single game rushing record, blazing up the left sideline and putting the KC Defenders to shame with a record-smashing 50 yard TD run:
<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>
The Chiefs try to regroup against Scoop’s Powerful Colts team next week, but my guess is that their football will has been permanently broken for all time. . .
The Titans will try to maintain some momentum starting the second half of their season with a great Week 10 Matchup when they host Badgun’s Dallas Cowboys in Nashville. . .

Gus, unfortunately I'm going to have to drop out of the league at the moment. I can't really explain why but at the moment I can't really commit to the league. This isn't a permanent thing so I will be back. I'm sorry for having to do this. I'm sorry that you'll have to play the cpu this week Badgun. Good luck in the game.
I am a patient boy.
I wait, I wait, I wait, I wait.
My time is water down a drain.

Just wasted an hour and a half playing my damn franchise game only to get d/c from the freaking franchiser server as I was compiling highlights!! This is the second time this season this has happened.
Hester had a Gale Sayers-like day with 5 TDs (3 REC, 1KR and 1PR) and over 400 total yards, too!!

Raiders escape tilt with Browns to extend their winning streak
Cleveland came into Oakland with guns blazing, hitting big passes and forcing the Oakland offense to be very patient in the first half while fighting tooth and nail to a 17-16 Raider lead at the half. The final points of the half were from a 57-yard field goal that Browns kicker J. Price booted as time expired. This came immediately after a 35 yard pass and a quick time out when the Browns had received the ball with just :10 left.
The Browns went into halftime feeling great and trailing by just a single point to a team that had dominated most squads who hit the field with them. They were getting the ball back after the half and had all the momentum.
Then the wheels fell off.
The Raider defense inexplicably clamped down on everything the Browns wanted to do, forcing 4 second-half turnovers and shutting out Cleveland in the second half, while they enjoyed a 24 point second half themselves to create a lopsided 41-16 final score.
Brady Quinn completed passes to 6 different Browns and 4 different Raiders in the game, finishing the day 12 for 24 for 167 yards, 1 touchdown, and 4 interceptions.
Cleveland lightning rod Josh Cribbs was held in check marvelously well by the Raiders secondary and All-Pro CB Nnamdi Asomugha, managing a single catch for 8 yards, which was a score. On the touchdown, Cribbs got the mismatch he wanted--Cribbs against a linebacker on a crossing route across the back of the end zone. A perfect throw and a score was Cribbs' only action of the day.
In the running game, it's safe to say the Browns didn't expect a day like this. Every time they snapped the ball to run it, their were Raider defenders everywhere. The longest run of the day was 11 yards from Brady Quinn, who showed some nifty moves in rolling out and trying to draw the linebackers to him, then either dumping it off or attempting to run for the first down.
But the conventional running game was completely absent. Jamal Lewis finished with 9 attempts for 16 yards (with a 1-yard TD), while Josh Cribbs' lone rushing attempt from the wildcat ended up in an 8 yard loss. As a team, Cleveland carried the ball 13 times for 28 yards.
Oakland's offense wasn't explosive, but it capitalized on turnovers, having a perfect 5-for-5 red zone TD efficiency until late in the game when they ran the ball nearly every down, and Cleveland DT Shaun Rogers was dominant. Anything near the center of the line ended up with Rogers throwing aside a blocker like a ragdoll and planting Darren McFadden in the turf.
McFadden carried the bulk of the load for the Raiders, with 26 rushes for 113 yards and 4 TDs on the day. Oakland had 37 carries on the day for 149 yards as a team.
Rookie QB Dane Morrow was efficient but not outstanding for the 4th straight game, after opening the season with a string of ridiculous 300+ yard, 5 TD affairs. Morrow was 13 of 21 for 214 yards and 1 TD.
But in the end, it was just DSP Raider football. Claw their way to halftime, adjust in the 2nd half, build a lead and force the other team to throw, and then create a no-fly zone in the secondary by snaring anything even remotely near an Oakland defender.
They cruised to a 41-16 victory against Cleveland, but a huge showdown looms next week as they'll travel to Miami for the first matchup between the 2009 Super Bowl Champions and Jared's Dolphins, last year's Super Bowl favorite up until he lost Ronnie Brown to injury.
