That can't be entirely true because I didn't do the flip right at 11pm CT, it was sometime after that but before 11:20 or so.

Also if I saw someone playing I wouldn't of flipped it. As you know many times last season I held the sim for you because you seem to play your games at the 11th hour.

That's what you get for procrastinating
The worst part is that I was online about 10pm but wasted time downloading this shitty Ultimate Team mode. (Waste of time, IMO. And I loved the FIFA version.)

Changing it up a bit this week. Individual players of the week are tough to do (have to sift through every game by hand), so I've changed it to game lines.

Terry as usual outstanding.

I was thinking last night how could we do a weekly wrap up show, the amount of work invovled then caused me to pass out.

Coach Brando: 'I Guarantee We Will Cover the Spread' Against the Redskins.

HOUSTON - At a downtown Hooters restaurant, Houston Texans coach Brando took issue with the latest line to come from DSP Today's resident oddsmaker and Oakland Raiders owner TCrouch.

"Seven points!" Coach Brando said between mouthfuls of wings and an unidentified number of beers. "Aside from our beating by the Raiders, we've been in every game. It's disrespectful to the way we've worked hard to deliver gut-wrenching defeats week after week to our fans, and I'm going to use it to motivate our players this week."

"Does that mean you're guaranteeing victory?" one reporter asked.

"Oh (expletive) no," Brando replied. "Have you seen us play? No, we'll probably enter the fourth quarter with a small lead, before finding some way to blow the (expletive) game. But I guarantee we will cover the spread. "

Coach Brando then ended the press conference when he fell off his stool. The Texans are scheduled to play the Redskins at Napoleon Complex Field tonight.

Nice job Terry.

I think 16 is a tad low for a team that (if memory serves correctly) beat the #7 team and was one unwise pass from defeating the #2 team as well, however. But all will be clear in time.

I agree, but I tend to be pretty clear-cut with the rankings based on record. There are too many teams at 4-2 or 3-3 for him to be any higher at the moment. As a few more teams lose (and the Dolphins go on their expected winning streak), it will all shake out.

I try to go by record with a few exceptions. I get into too many "this team vs. that team" issues if I start doing that, because then maybe Brando should be in the top 10 since his losses have mostly come to the power teams even though he's 1-5.

It's pretty fun, but in all actuality I have no idea which direction the Dolphins are headed right now, although I expect they'll go on a fat winning streak soon (probably at the expense of the Raiders, I'm sure).

I've got THREE CPU teams ranked ahead of me. Ha.

It's just taken me a while to get used to my new players. I tried to both incorporate "Tribow" into the Wildcat offense while trying to figure out changes in the formation due to the new patch, all without much practice time, and that was just a disaster. And Trammell is such an enigma; some great catches, some inexplicable drops; some excellent route running, some inability to get open. Things will improve. I think.

Anyways, I don't mind being underestimated. Will just have to move up the rankings and try and catch a wild card.

It also could be that I am contributing to their power team status by not beating them. :D

I own the worst winning % of any human team since the league began, and I'm sure more than a few CPU teams are ahead of me as well. Effort or no, I have sucked more than anyone in the DSP league.

I put up two more teams Washington and Denver.

Washington had the most guys with a chance to file for FA, in fact 10 guys 81 or above so I think they got away pretty nicely.

Myself I lost a key player in FB Peyton Hillis, some may scuff at the FB position he is key to my offense.

In what was almost not the greatest comeback in my Madden history....Playing without the injury prone? Steven Jackson, the Rams score 21 points in the last 2:13 to come back from 28-14 down and win 35-28.

Bulger goes 24-30 for 351 yds and 3 TD's. The winning TD coming on a 3 yarder to Makino.

The amazing play is the one that comes before the game winner.
Watch as with 37 seconds to play and no timeouts remaining Marc Bulger rolls out(Yes he did. He did! Miracles never cease)and heaves a hail mary toward the rookie Hightower....

Why exactly does the bastard spin? Cause the moron hit the wrong button! Why was I hitting any buttons?

Here is a better view of the spin of ignorance. That coulda been really bad.

This sweet catch and run by Avery open the scoring.

A wild game in Pittsburgh saw the Steelers come out on top of the Saints 50-36.

Straight to the highlights:

Dree Brees finds Jeremy Shockey for a score early in the second quarter to put the Saints up 21-0:
<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>

Santonio Holmes returns the kick for a score to cut the lead to 21-7:
<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>

After a field goal by the Saints, Santonio scores his second kickoff return for a td in the quarter to make the score 24-14:
<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>

LeRon James scores on a 58 yard run to put the Steelers up 28-24 at the half:
<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>

After the game settled down in the third quarter the Saints scored two tds in the 4th quarter before the Steelers were able to take back the lead on a 2 yard run from LeRon James. Pittsburgh was able to stop the Saints on a 4th and 10 late in the 4th quarter and then put the game away with this 75 yard run from LeRon James that would lead to a final score from Willie Parker:
<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>

Drew Brees led the Saints and finished 34-43 for 413 yards with 4 tds and 1 int at the very end of the game. LeRon James had his best game as a Steeler subbing for an ineffective Willie Parker with 16 carries for 223 yards and 3 tds. Next week the Saints host the Carolina Panthers while Pittsburgh travels to Atlanta.

Jets beat the Jags in Jacksonville 70-24. While it was sort of fun to reach 70, I'm certainly not proud of giving up 24 to the Jaguars! It was a good opportunity to try out some things though, like selecting my plays from the formation menu instead of 'play type'. Garrard was not terrible, I must say.

Redskins Ride the Portis Train to Victoryville, Win 31-26 Over Texans

WASHINGTON - NFL teams usually like to establish the tone of a game early. The Washington Redskins did it on the first play. Clinton Portis took a quick pitch 39 yards, using his speed, shiftiness, and strength to elude the Houston Texans. It's a pattern the veteran back repeated all game, propelling Washington to a wild win against the close-but-no-cigar Texans.

The opening run set up a touchdown-scoring drive for the Redskins on their first possession. The drive saw Washington convert a fourth-and-one in Houston territory, with Washington coach Zeppo screaming at his kicking team to stay off the field. The drive ended with quarterback Jason Campbell hitting receiver Devin Thomas for a four-yard strike.

The Texans immediately evened the score:

<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>

Brian "Black Lightning" Weatherspoon returned the kickoff 102 yards for a touchdown, his second touchdown return of the season.

The Texans picked off Campbell on the next drive, with rookie cornerback Rakeem Jordan jumping a curl route.

<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>

The Redskins defense staunched potential bleeding by holding the Texans to a field goal and a 10-7 first quarter lead.

Washington and Houston traded touchdowns on their next possessions, with the Redskins scoring on a 20-yard Portis touchdown run. Houston answered back thanks to a big play by running back Steve Slaton.

<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>

Spinning out of a pack of tacklers, Slaton gained 61 yards before being chased down by safety Leron Landry. Slaton would finish the drive with a three-yard run and give the Texans a 17-14 lead.

The Redskins regained the upper hand before the half, however. Campbell and Portis sliced through the Texans defense with the ease of a hot knife through butter, leading to a five-yard touchdown pass to fullback Mike Sellers just before the two-minute warning. Safety Chris Horton then picked off Matt Schaub as Houston pressed, allowing Washington to kick a field goal and go into the locker room with a 24-17 lead. The frantic first half saw Portis gain 108 yards rushing and the Redskins hold the ball for 16 minutes to the Texans's eight.

The defenses adjusted at halftime, though, and neither team could score in the third quarter. Houston turned it over when Schaub threw his second pick to Horton, a deep attempt to Andre Johnson that Horton intercepted in the endzone and returned 30 yard. The Texans defense held and forced Washington into the only punt of the day.

Houston began to drive near the end of the quarter and into the fourth, but missed two golden opportunities to score a touchdown. Slaton broke into the open for a run and seemed destined to reach the endzone, until the laws of space and time seemingly broke down:

<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>

All 350 pounds of defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth not only caught the speedy Slaton from behind, but did so by leaping through the air to land on the back. "It was like watching the Titantic getting shot out of a nuclear-powered cannon," Coach Brando said. On the same drive, facing third-and-18 from the Washington 20, Schaub found a wide open Andre Johnson over the middle. Johnson caught the ball at the four, but instead of continuing straight for a sure touchdown, veered to the outside where the Redskins tackled him to force a fourth-and-two. Houston decided to settle for the field goal and made the game 24-20 with 8:30 left to play.

The Redskins offense returned to its first-half form on their final drive, pushing the Houston defense back again and again. On third-and-goal from the Houston six, the Texans missed a chance to sack Campbell, allowing the mobile quarterback to scramble to the one. Once again, Coach Zeppo yelled for his field goal unit to stay on the sideline. He gave the ball to fullback Mike Sellers. Texans defensive end Antonio Smith got great penetration, standing Sellers up at the one, but the feisty fullback fought forward and scored a touchdown. The Texans, out of timeouts, couldn't challenge, but replays showed Sellers played the football version of "just the tip" by barely nudging the nose of the football over the goal line.

Down 31-20 with just over two minutes left, the game seemed over, but Houston moved the ball rapidly and scored on a four-yard pass to Steve Slaton with 34 seconds left.

<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>

Washington foiled the two-point conversion, making it 31-26. Houston kicker Saverio "The Italian Australian" Rocca gave the Texans a chance by bouncing the onside kick high off the ground and over the Redskins players, but the Texans couldn't snag the kick before it went out of bounds, effectively ending the game.

Schaub was a highly efficient 23-for-27 for 218 yards, but his two interceptions came at critical times. Slaton finished with 95 yards on 12 carries and two touchdowns. Portis tore up the Texans for 149 yards on just 15 carries. After a hot first half, Campbell finished with a pedestrian 15-for-24 for 158 yards, but he made critical plays to keep the Redskins alive and score touchdowns on four of their five redzone attempts.

---
Zeppo, that was a hell of a game, with so much back and forth. The difference was you were able to turn your redzone visits into more TDs when I settled for field goals. I also didn't have an answer to Portis, especially when your receivers were blocking my cornerbacks into the stands on outside runs. Great win, and good luck the rest of the way.

Dolphins climb to .500, but lose Pennington , in 45-10 victory over Bills

The Miami front office was reeling, after finding out that their best offensive player (Ronnie Brown) and best young defensive player (Antoine Cason) announced that they would file for free agency. However, these players themselves didn't seem to mind, and in fact seemed buoyed by going onto the open market. Ronnie Brown rushed for 206 yards on only 14 carries, including a (likely) DSPFL record 98 yard touchdown run, and Antoine Cason had an interception return for a touchdown and a fumble recovery, leading Miami to a 45-10 victory.

However, this much needed victory was marred by a major injury to Chad Pennington. Late in the first quarter, Pennington (who will not be a free agent next year, grumble) was blindsided on an 18-yard completion to Ted Ginn Jr., and didn't get up. Prognosis: torn bicep, out for seven weeks, including an important mid-season stretch against the Raiders, Titans, and Steelers.

Fortunately for Miami, Chad Henne performed well in place of Pennington, going 12-18 with 169 yards passing, 1 TD and 1 INT. Tim Tribow also had a chance to play in the fourth quarter, going 5-10 with 69 yards passing, though demonstrating some major problems with passing accuracy.

Miami moves on to play the CPU Packers next week.[/b]

Is it my imagination or are injuries getting more severe this season? Still aren't that many but it seems like guys are getting knocked out for longer.

It was all in the turnovers. They just kept fumbling, or throwing picks, with nothing but green grass in front of me.

No worries, I don't care what anyone does to the cpu, personally I can't put up 70 points every which just lets me know where I sit in the Madden skills department.

Also I don't think I could stomach a game with that kind of score, I got bored playing the Bengals last week and I think I score in the 30's.

I don't really think of playing the CPU as "games"... more like an hour to explore the playbook.

Did you recover 2 onside kicks? The scoring summary is just crazy in the fourth quarter?

...No onside kicks. I have yet to recover one I think ever.

The first score at 2:13 came after a 4 ? minute drive and cut the score to 28- 21.

Then I then kicked, used 2 of my timeouts and they punted...Scored in 2? plays to tie the game at 28 with around a minute left.

Kicked again and got them to punt after 2 incomplete passes and a timeout.(they might have hit one ob?..I dont remember exactly how they mismanaged the clock).
Then I threw up the hail Mary with the spin play with 30secs? left. swore at the TV but DID NOT use spike or any hurry up as I learned not to in the playoffs when EA glitched me. Called a play with the intent of throwing the ball away so I could come on and kick a fg but Makino was uncovered so I just flipped it to him in the endzone.
