Is this a question? What do you mean you can ONLY watch YouTube videos?

I got a hunch he means that he can't see flash-based video like in Hulu.

Pretty simple, Gamer, Android's browser doesn't support flash.

Btw, how are you liking the Mytouch? I like it alot but I really want a Droid. Too bad I cant get it for Tmobile.

yes, what he said. So thanks for the answer. I like it a lot, just the battery drains really fast no matter what I'm doing.

People are going to get used to poor battery life on these things.

In fact, one accessory you see more and more is a case with an integrated external battery pack.

Absolutely fantastic phone. I've had virtually every smartphone released and it's by far my favorite.

I stopped at a Verizon reseller today, and they kept telling me I'd have to pay full price because I'm not in my upgrade period, even though I showed them a Verizon brochure that said I did qualify for the lower price. Luckily there is a real Verizon store at the mall where I'm working tonight so I'll talk to them.

All the reviews are pretty positive on it. How is the battery life? What are your favorite apps?

It easily lasts a day which is fantastic for a smartphone on Verizon's power hungry network. I don't use all that many apps...but my favorite is the NFL Sunday Ticket (watch live games if you've got a subscription on DirecTV) and the Dolphin Browser. There are lots of widgets and stuff that I use to customize the screens (I love Beautiful Home for weather and clock widgets).

The biggest issue with the phone was a little lag and the camera not focusing, but both were remedied with the 2.0.1 update a few weeks ago. 2.1 is on the way as well...so even more features are coming.

Any decent games available for Droid? Also, they said Flash would hopefully be coming in 2010, correct?

Flash is coming...eventually. And I only play a few games...Solitaire, Jewel and WordUp. There are a ton of games, I just don't really use it for gaming.

Well I got the Droid, in fact I'm viewing DSP on it right now. Very impressed so far, phone itself is solid and there seem to be a ton of apps, although not as many as the iPhone has. The GPS with Google maps is awesome, and the dolphin browser is the way to go. Hopefully more big name sites will hop on the android train, cough MLB cough.

I've had an Android phone since early October, the Sprint HTC Hero, and absolutely love it (especially for only $129 with a coupon at Best Buy at launch... thank you silver premium reward zone!).

Favorite apps:

Shazam
ShopSavvy
Quickpedia
Reader Widget
Pandora
Flixster
Handcent SMS (a nice upgrade from the default texting app)
FartDroid (the kids love it)
Fake-Call Me (has gotten me out of alot of boring appointments)
Moov
Task Manager

Other neat stuff:
Metal Detector
DirecTV NFL SuperFan
Steamy Window
gStrings (for tuning my guitars)

Built in cool stuff:
Google Maps
Google Talk
Google Listen
Bluetooth/Wi-Fi/GPS toggle widgets (great to be able to touch them on and off quick and easy from the home page and save your battery when you don't need those features)

by the way, for anyone shopping for phones, here is a very handy spreadsheet comparing the various hardware, features, and service packaging/pricing:

Here I was all giddy and seriously considering Droid, then Google comes out with it's own phone (Nexus One), which of course is suppose to trump all.

http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/articles/20100 ... er-one.htm

One thing's for sure. Cell phones are getting insanely powerful.

Actually, the Nexus One is made by HTC, which is almost the same as the Sprint HTC Hero, which came out early Oct. Big difference is that the Nexus will have the updated Android 2.1 operating system, which the Hero is getting sometime before July.

Whoa Jon...with the misinformation. Where to start...well, snapdragon 1ghz processor, significantly larger screen, twice the resolution, waaaay better camera w/ led flash...shall I go on? Nexus kicks the crap out of the Hero(sprint)/Droid Eris (verizon). It's very similar to the DROID as far as hardware goes except for the processor (which will probably result in less battery life, but we'll see when the CDMA version comes out in the spring).

Also has a AMOLED screen.

But there's no point in buying it for $530 unlocked when the only 3G frequencies it supports are on T-Mobile. So you have to get a data and voice contract with T-Mobile to use it to its capabilities.

Palm slows its death spiral temporarily by announcing deals with AT&T and Verizon to get out of the Sprint ghetto. Gets also some EA games on it as well as an SDK to get app. development. May be too little too late though.

I did say "almost" the same... LOL

Faster hardware is to be expected for a phone developed a year later, but the 2.1 OS is the most significant upgrade IMO. I'm anxious for Sprint to roll that out to my phone.

I will be very surprised if the Eris and Hero get 2.1. They are just too slow I think. It may be like Windows Vista/7 basic...strip out some of the graphically intensive tweaks. Hell, the Droid slows down a bit with the hacked 2.1 Gallery App I installed. The Snapdragon processor REALLY helps in that regard. Then again, I'm using hacked software so that may be part of it too. I'll wait till 2.1 comes out officially to really draw my conclusion. My wife has the Eris/Hero and the Droid is so much better it's not even funny. Add to that the upgraded processor on the Nexus and you've got a really significant phone.

Actually, Sprint announced it 3 weeks ago that the moment and hero are getting 2.1 and they are skipping right past 1.6 and 2.0

Oh I know it's been announced...but it won't be the first time a software update for a phone has been scrapped because of poor performance. Mark this day down. If they eventually do get 2.1, like I mentioned, I bet they strip out some of the features (especially things like live wallpapers that eat CPU power).

Motorola's boss said the Cliq would be getting 2.1....Can it handle it?

After seeing the live wallpapers on YouTube videos, etc... that's something I would probably disable anyway, just to conserve battery life and processing power. I wouldn't mind at all if they got rid of that for my HTC Hero, just give me some of the newer features and I'll be happy.
