I think the answer is more simple than you give credit for PK. I think Floyd wanted to fight Manny earlier then he saw Manny get bigger and tougher and faster and blow up every one of his opponents along the way. IMO Floyd started to have second thoughts about fighting Manny.

Then the promoters flashed oh 50 million duckets in his face then he said yeah, nice payday.

So now he's trying to take the physical advantage away from Manny by requiring all these ridiculous drug tests. Something tells me the fight will go on but at a later date because Floyd is going to be considered by the experts as someone who is scared to fight Manny.

I don't think he can live with that. Remember Rocky 2, kinda similar aye? :)

The fight may happen later this year or in 2011, but it will be greeted by much less enthusiasm by non-boxing fans. I can't tell you how many friends and acquaintances of mine who could care less about boxing wanted to see this fight in March. It had captured the imagination of the general public, something a fight probably hasn't done since Holyfield-Tyson.

Both fighters were coming off bouts that captured 1 million-plus PPV buys. Both fighters were coming off victories over credible opponents, not mismatches like Matthew Hatton, Paulie Malignaggi or Yuri Foreman.

This fight had reached critical mass that it won't regain again. Sure, it will be a big fight in the boxing world when it happens. But it never will be as big as it could have been in March, and that's a crippling blow to the sport of boxing.

I don't know PK, as i'm not a boxing aficionado as yourself. I think the fight whether it's in March or in 2011 will be EPIC !

And consider that there's now bad blood between the two. One side saying PBF is scared the other accusing the other side of EPD. Can't wait for the two to meet.

The sooner the better because both will be older and they are still in the prime of their life.

It might not be dead: http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/boxing ... id=4806180

If Floyd is serious, then Manny needs to step up here. I would say 14 days is fair as a cutoff for the blood tests. This fight has to happen!!

Whether it's a blame-shifting ploy by Mayweather or not, 14 days sounds like a reasonable compromise.

My blame finger is starting to waver in the other direction if Pacquiao doesn't agree to this. I don't see how he will be significantly weakened by a blood draw -- we're not talking a gallon of blood here -- two weeks before the fight. Sure, it might dull his training for a couple of days, but he'll be fully recovered in time for the fight. And Mayweather will undergo the same blood draw.

This is a pretty juicy twist.

What the heck, Manny fighting Clottey? http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/boxing ... id=4808708

I'm with PK, starting to move my blame finger towards Manny.

That's a better fight than Manny against Yuri Foreman, as there will be a ton of action. Clottey is a tough guy who gave Cotto all he could handle and more. It wouldn't have been theft if Clottey was awarded that decision.

But it's not the fight we want to see.

pk500 wrote: Nice work, Floyd. You've confirmed what many boxing fans have believed for the last five years: You're a coward, plain and simple.
I've been saying this for years! Floyd south of 135lbs was an amazing fighter... But north of 135lbs, he took zero risks. He had Margarito, Mosley, Cotto, Williams all wanting some. Instead he went with Juddah, Baldomir, Gatti, and a blown up Marquez. With 2 common opponents in Oscar and Ricky. We all know who's performance was better... He struggled with both, Manny destroyed Oscar and Ricky!

Have y'all heard the RA Rugged Man Interview with Floyd? Dude serves him and calls it like it is... Loved every second of this interview and Rugged Man knows his boxing!

Fcuk the Mayweather's; classless bunch... How dare they drag my countryman's hero/name through the mud when he has never failed any test? HATERS! And to top it all off, they don't take the fight... They never wanted the fight in the first place. Come on? Propse March 13 after we just fought on November 14th? But Manny called his bluff.

Find some balls and some class and take your beating like a man... Great boxer, sure, but not much of a "fighter". Again, I've been saying it for years...

I'm sure it's in this thread somewhere, or someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Manny proposed to fight in March, the preliminary date discussed, or at least reported, was sometime in May.

Which I believe conflicted with Manny's political career attempt.

Spot on, man. The elections in The Philippines are in April or May, I believe.

Now, that doesn't mean I disagree with my man Krizzy ... :)

One thing about Clottey: Dude never has been stopped in his career. His jaw is a cross between granite and tungsten.

This will be a challenge for Manny. Just not the challenge we wanted now.

You have got to be kidding me. I'm still in shock. Guess I now have to believe it: http://sports.espn.go.com/dallas/news/story?id=4813862

I like watching Clottey fight, because he is tough...but this is a huge disappointment. If we are to believe PBF of his 14 day compromise, then Pac has most of the blame on him. He already has a lawsuit against PBF, Golden Boy, etc. about the PED situation...why not just man up and fight PBF in the ring??!!

Everyone still is talking about the aftermath of the Pacquiao-Mayweather debacle, but this is going to be a hell of a fight Jan. 30:

I'm very eager for this fight. Is Berto the real deal? Is Mosley drinking from the same fountain of youth as Golden Boy partner Bernard Hopkins?

As Mills Lane used to say, "Let's get it on!" :)

Jermain Taylor withdraws from the Super Six:

http://www.boxingscene.com/?m=show&id=2 ... um=twitter

Good call by "Bad Intentions." He was knocked out brutally in his last two fights, against Froch and Abraham. He's risking serious injury by continuing his career.

Who replaces Taylor? Allan Green is a candidate, but I would love to see Lucian Bute. He looked great in his rematch with Librado Andrade last month.

Another question: How can scoring be done fairly for Taylor's replacement since he will have one less fight than the other five participants?

This would have been an excellent fight 10 years ago. But now B-Hop is following the Money May school of avoiding top competition, fighting has-beens and never-will-bes and cashing in.

Shame.

It's OK, though, as there are a ton of competitive fights this spring, starting with JuanMa Lopez-Luevano and Gamboa-Mtgawa on the same card next Saturday night, and Mosley-Berto on Jan. 30.

Understandable. Dude lost at least eight family members in the earthquake. Damn.

It would be easy to say this fight could become a rallying point for the Haitian people, but their life is so shattered right now that survival is all most are thinking about.

Thoughts and prayers to Berto and all the Haitian people.

First, I'm not celebrating Berto's withdrawal. I was really looking forward to his fight against Sugar Shane, and I really feel for Berto and everyone of Haitian descent.

But Mosley meeting Mayweather could end up being the best thing for boxing, just as others have described here. If Money makes Sugar Shane participate in random blood testing, and there's no reason why he won't, and then beats him, the pressure is REALLY on Pacquiao.

Mosley, admitted PED user, takes a blood test and passes. Hopefully he fights valiantly against Mayweather -- which he almost certainly will -- in a very competitive bout despite random blood testing, shooting down Pacman's claim that blood testing weakens a fighter.

What excuse will Manny have for avoiding a matchup with Mayweather this fall, presuming Manny beats Clottey?
