It's called the Europa League

Good point. Interesting concept though.

I'm halfway through a stint at White Hart Lane. I figure I'd like to be the one who takes the underachieving spurs squad all the way to the top. 20 weeks in and only 3 losses:)

I'm 6 games from the end of the season, and look set to finish 6th. I think I made a mistake selling Modric before the season started, thinking that Kranjcar could do the job...but he can't.

Lennon is not very good
Bentley is a waste of space.
All the strikers score, except for Pavulyenko or whatever he's called.
King is always picking up knocks
Bale is staggeringly inconsistent

Only new signings were a German LB/CB (Laissle) and a Serbian 18yr old winger (Ljajic).

Chelsea going to win the Prem, they're 8 points ahead of the Roberto Mancini-led Man City, with Utd and Arsenal just behind.

I did the same thing with Modric. Dos Santos is doing a nice job filling in. I also picked up "not so fat anymore" Ronaldo just to see what would happen. He has scored 10 goals and is a nice one two punch off of the bench. Having Crouch, Keane and Defoe helps too:)

Ekoutto (sp?) constantly fails me. King is injured, has been for awhile now. Naughton seems to be playing well in his place.

Unfortunately I'd already lent Giovanni to Villa, where he promptly won the Young Player of the Year Award. He's back now...and out for 4 months.

2010 summer departures - I've sold Aaron Lennon, my German CB Laissle (at a profit), Corluka (£12m), and swapped McNaughton for Dan Gosling from Everton. Got a CF from Palermo (Cani) on loan after flogging Pavu-whatshisname for £5m. The owners are happy, and I've successfully negotiated the 3rd qualifying round of the Europa League after finishing 6th.

Now I just need a backup keeper and we'll be set up for another season in the 5th-8th place division :)

I'm thinking I'll have another run with Michael Jackson's favorite team, Young Boys (Swiss). Had a fun run with them in FM09

Try and hire Steve Coppell as your assistant....he's very keen on Young Boys (allegedly), after all that's why he resigned as City manager in the mid-90s.

So in my Man City save, getting Berry and Young from Villa completely killed off that team. They are hovering around the drop zone in the 10/11 season early on.

Luka Modric is a good player in this game. One of those really good FM players. Not having seen a lot of Tottenham games this year, I don't know that much about him. I should have bought him instead of Young now that I'm thinking about it.

There was a strong rumour that at Reading he was banned from working with the u-18s.

Who's Berry ? And why get Ashley Young when you can just stick Stevie Ireland on the RM ? Alternatively, send Vladimir Wiess out for a season on loan and then try him in 10/11.

I'm guessing that you had to splash the cash to get Young as well.

It's odd, but when I managed City after the first patch, it was Adebayor who bagged a load. In this game, with Berto managing them, Tevez was actually league leading scorer with 25.

Berry is my aging box-to-box midfielder that sucks in 10/11. Barry is my CM that could dominate the midfield in 09/10.

Young was you typical, "oh shite, transfer deadline tomorrow and I need somebody quick!" Wright-Phillips has a crossing of 10...10 Dave! I don't need that.

Here's my lineup...

Akinfeev
Bridge - old, slow and I need to replace him during the winter transfer season.
Chiellini
Toure
Richards - plays better than a 3-star player.
Young
Berry
Gourcuff
Ireland
Adebayor
Robinho or Tevez.

Robinho is quite possibly the most frustrating player I have, you never know when he's going to show up but when he does, he'll bag a few goals. Or he'll score a 5.9 in form and be subbed in the 60th.

And this new 25 player registration thing SUCKS! I used to once in a while give the young guys a go, but can't do that now. But somehow in all the years of this game, I've never been able to probably manage a rotation system where I could play a European team and when the fitness levels drop low have solid back-ups. So far, I can field two different teams. We'll see how that hold-ups before some asshat complains about playing time.

My Spurs lineup, effective August 10

Gomes

Hutton
Woodgate
Dawson
Vitale (Napoli, 635k)

Ljajic (Serbian, £6m)
Gibson (ex-Man U, part of Modric deal)
Huddlestone
Leonardo (£3.2m deadline day panic from Vitesse Arnhem, to be replaced by my Italian when he's fit)

Crouch
Cani (on loan with 5m buyout...now ripped his hamstring in Europa League, out for 3 months)

Cani will be replaced by Defoe.

I agree about the 25 man squad thing....I had to leave a slot empty when I was swapping Naughton for Dan Gosling of Everton (v versatile, gonna be a good one).
