It's the range on those things that really kills me - Just one shot from both can take me out from 10-15 yards away.

Tell me about it! Absolutely ridiculous! I'm glad I'm not the only one surprised by the asinine range.

I should be used to it now, but I'm still amazed by it - your success, or lack of it in this game (and in the other CoD's) is dictated by lag.

If you are at a lag disadvantage to others, you can see someone first, but they shoot you first and you're dead.

It's very frustrating how spacetime can warp and they shoot you around corners - just because they are moving faster than you are, so they have already seen you and kill you before you can react.

After seeing a ton of akimbo-shotguns tonight, I think the problem is the accuracy without having to aim. With the 1887's people were one-shotting me from 15 yards, with an unaimed shot and their cursor vaguely in the direction of my guy. They need to make the shotguns much less accurate when fired without looking down scopes.

I love love Spec Op.

I just solo'ed Estate Takedown and High Explosives on Veteran (and completing all Echo missions on Vet solo). I only need Snatch and Grab solo and I have basically done all of them by myself (except those 2 on Bravo), all on Vet.

The Spec Ops are superb. I played through some of them with my brother over Thanksgiving, and we had a great time. I helped him finish some of his Veteran attempts, although we couldn't beat Snatch and Grab.

Yup, Snatch and Grab is the bane of my existence. I think it is a matter of luck after you grab intel. :(

My brother mentioned he did finally beat it after I left. Not sure how he did it -- we tried a couple different approaches after grabbing the intel and they didn't work. Best bet seems to be to use your flashbangs at the end to give you a chance to thin the enemy herd a bit.

#MW2 Javelin Glitch fix currently in test. Once it's cleared, we'll be urging it through Microsoft & Sony certification as fast as possible.
Please no jokes that I have a twitter account and follow IW's community rep.

Have you run into it yet?? It's pretty brutal.

EDIT: Good that they are trying to move really fast on it, though!!!

I have yet to be a victim to it, though I have seen some suspicious and massive explosions in games I've played from across the map.

Sounds like the use of it has massively ramped up in the last few days, and I could see how 2 or 3 guys using it over and over would utterly ruin a match.

#MW2 PS3 update 1.06 is the javelin fix, care package glitch fix, and addresses areas where players could get into geo. Like rocks on Afghan
fourzerotwo

For those playing #MW2 on Xbox 360. The same fixes that are in 1.06 are coming to you, it's currently in Microsoft cert. Out of my hands.

I'm not sure what the care package glitch is, but if it's when your packages land on a building or off the map and that gets fixed, I'll be happy.

There was some glitch where teams would get infinite care packages.

Care packages landing on roof tops and such was an intentional feature that I doubt they will change.

Finally took the time to finish the single player story this weekend. I'm probably in the minority, but I had a hell of a time trying to keep track of the characters and plot. I'm still not sure what the hell happened, so it's off to wikipedia to see if I can get a decent plot synopsis.... :?

Yeah, the plot was more convoluted and less in sync than the first one. But it was still a helluva ride...

fellas: how is Modern Warfare 2, compare to the first one?

my copies of Call of Duty 2 and Call of Duty 3 (Xbox 1) remain in plastic wrap and never tried the Modern Warfare incarnations.

I only played CoD 4 and Modern Warfare 2 online. MW2 has tons more weapons, ways to level up, and customization options and that makes it more fun.

Unfortunately, at least for me, there are a lot more WTF moments because it feels like MW2 is more dominated by lag than CoD4. Your connection speeds will really dictate success and failure. If you happen to be the host, you'll fare much better.

All in all, this game is a ton of fun and I play the online multiplayer everynight and would pick it up again in a heartbeat . . . in fact, I bought 2 copies when it was released.

As a single player game it's a rental only. A lot of fun, but short lived. The meat for this one is online.

The enemy ESP in this game drives me freaking crazy. Lazy programming to make the game hard. The single player has all the high production values of MW1, but for some reason I'm finding the levels to be more of an advance, die, advance a little more, repeat exercise than the previous game. So far it's a bit of a slog peppered with some pretty incredible moments.

I can't disagree with this. This certainly happened at some points in MW1, but seems to be more frequent in MW2.

It's one thing for pitched battles to be fast and confusing, but every second of the game is like that. Half the time I am getting shot in the face by some guy before I have the vaguest idea where I am or what I am doing.

I really have no problem with the SP game, and enjoy it quite alot, in fact, but I do see where you guys are coming from. I believe it to be a product of astronomical expectations derived from the first game. The game is a helluva lot more breathless from start to finish than the first one, because even in movies, sometimes the sequel of a great action flick has the formula of MORE action, MORE explosions, MORE, MORE, MORE.

Like I said, though, it doesn't really bother me, as I enjoy the hell outta the SP, but probably wouldn't buy it if there weren't a friggin' insane MP aspect to it because, well, neither game has a long SP storyline...

As far as multiplayer goes, I still have a love/hate relationship with this game.

It's great for short-term, high adrenaline sessions that I can play for ten minutes or two hours, which is great because my play schedule is very catch as catch can right now. I actually enjoy the 'twitchier' game modes more than the tactical ones, because I think they play to the game's strengths better. To me, it's high intensity arcade fun.

The lag kills drive me crazy, though. Like, really crazy. Host advantage was why I stopped playing Gears online, and that was one of my all-time favorite online games. I think the upgrade perk that would help me the most right now is Fios. The glitchers and dudes running around with the 1887's and such put a damper on things too.

Basically, when I play without thinking/caring the game is a blast. When I do, it pisses me off.

I think lag seems to be an issue with this game because only a few rounds can kill, and the auto-aim is pretty generous. As a result, as soon as a good player sees you, you are dead within seconds. Other games like Halo may be no more laggy, but because you have to fire at someone for several seconds and land many rounds, the lag isn't as much of an issue.

Online in this game makes me swear a lot, but after I chill out for a few minutes I can't resist playing more. If I'm really getting pwned, I try to hang back a bit and let my teammates draw fire and shoot over their shoulders.

By far my biggest annoyance are the dual 1887s right now. I really think they need re-balancing. I understand that this game is a little more rock-em-sock-em than MW1 online, but it's just ridiculous to see guys sprinting around with those things getting double kills from simultaneously firing a shotgun in each hand at targets 20 yards away without breaking stride.
