You're more then welcome back. You technically released your guys, all you would need to do is release them in game and show up at the draft if you want.TCrouch wrote: I'm not in any leagues at the moment, but this is the only one I miss.
As for the complaining I would just say do what I have decided to do an ignore it, I'm doing this to have fun with people I like. Some people are a little too competitive and take this a tad too serious.
While I want to keep things in the realm of realistic, we all need to remember this is a game an stick skills far outweigh coaching decisions IMO, trust me if there was an option to have a coach only league i would of done that.
Anyway please come back if you're son inclined.

When do they schedule the regular season? Because if I've got Oakland on the schedule, you better be playing. My 'Fins are only getting better this year, and are looking to knock off the champs.TCrouch wrote:I'm an emotional b*tch. I'll get that out of the way up front.
I really don't like all the complaining over the simplest of things, but I was definitely being an emotional p*ssy in withdrawing without giving it some time.

You'll definitely have Oakland on the schedule because all first place teams play each other in the same conference. . .Jared wrote:. . .Because if I've got Oakland on the schedule, you better be playing. My 'Fins are only getting better this year, and are looking to knock off the champs.
To quote Ric Flair, "To be the man, you've got the beat the man. . ."
That's one of the many reasons why Terry should come back into the fold. . .
Sorry again. At the same time, there were some rumblings that I was somehow a cheeser in the OS league, so I think I let everything get to me a little bit too much. I just ditched all of them...when they were not fun, it defeated the purpose. But this one was nothing but fun (during the season at least).
I rejoined at lunch and cut the guys listed, but I had to change from the RT listed because he was the only one I had left. Instead I dumped 65 OVR TE Tony Stewart.
And Jared = 15-1.
Oakland = 12-4.
We never played. Jared is still the team to beat, regardless. Especially when he has Ronnie Brown. Talk about a season-changing injury.

We know this is meaningless, given that you weren't controlling the team for those four losses.TCrouch wrote: And Jared = 15-1.

We'll all be gunning for you, Terry. Regular season I'm not that concerned about, but I really, really, don't want to see you winning this thing again. Nothing personal.

I've been thinking all day about this and I've decided rather than focus on what it's not like and dismiss it I'm going to try and get in the spirit of things and look at what it is like and embrace it. I will be at the draft. I don't think it's fair to the league to have an owner that is half-assing it and I really do enjoy the games so I will be full-assing it tonight.
I am a patient boy.
I wait, I wait, I wait, I wait.

Guys that went rather well and fast. Seems like everyone had a good time but wants to know next steps so let me list them out. Obviously the holiday is gonna slow this a little.
1. Make sure your post draft rosters are correct. Zeppo said because he drafted 7 guys and he didn't have 7 free roster spots the game cut players from his team. Which is the opposite of what Terry said happened in his draft (rookies being put in the pool).
I'm going to trust everyone here but look over your rosters and get them straight with rookies and if someone you want got cut by the game. Just get you roster in line.
2. FA Draft is going to work like this.
- I am randomly going to select a draft order and it will snake.
- The draft is 4 rounds.
- I need everyone to send me a draft list, make it fairly large to cover a 4 round 17 owner draft.
THIS IS IMPORTANT
Send your draft list to my email dan.spezzano<at>gmail.com obviously fix the email addy here.
The subject line should say BEARS FA DRAFT LIST (put in your team name)
List players in order 1-XXX, DON'T GIVE ME MULTIPLE LIST OF HB, FB ETC AND THEN INSTRUCTIONS.
If I get all of this by Sunday night I will then try and turn it around by Monday or Tuesday night.
If i don't get a list or your list runs out you will just not get any picks and need to use your 10 FA points during the season to fill spots.
You will be the ones manually putting guys on your rosters and releasing. Hopefully we can have everything sorted out by next Thursday and begin playing games again.
Let me know if you have any questions. I'm going to do the draft order in a few minutes, my wife will randomly pick the order.

Is there a master list somewhere of all the released FA players? Or do we comb through the FA thread and compile our own?Danimal wrote: 2. FA Draft is going to work like this.

I guess we essentially have to rank all 68 released players in our order of priority so that it will work, yes? Otherwise there could be big holes in the last round or two, unless I'm not grasping how this is set up.
Which begs the question; say someone is set on getting the best CB available, but doesn't want to get more than one CB through this draft. How is that situation to be handled? I guess I'm a bit confused about this draft method.
Not trying to cause any extra work or complain -- I love the league and I'm excited to start season 2. But I think Zep's got a good point -- it's hard to plot out four rounds of picks. So I just offer a couple of ideas.
Would it be possible to do the FA draft in real time? Start a party chat, have everyone log into the franchise, and let teams add FAs from the pool? We'd have to keep track of the order, but otherwise people could grab the players they want. For those who can't make it, they could send their list in. I can't imagine that would take longer than a half hour to do a 4 round draft.
If that's not possible, what about just making a sticky thread and letting people post their picks? It would take a few days, but if we start now, we could probably be done by the beginning of next week.

I may find the time today or tomorrow AM to make a list of all the released FAs and post it in the FA thread. I would organize it by position, I think, unless there's a better idea. I do sort of wish we had the ages available, but maybe I can add that in if I feel up to it.
Not making promises, but I will give it a shot if my sister and bro. in law don't show up too soon today.

Am I missing something? Can't we just look at the FA's available in-game?Zeppo wrote:

I made my own Exel sheet (yes, nerd alert) of the players released. I'm happy to post it if Danimal approves (don't want to overstep boundaries here if he has his own list). I have players listed by position, name, and OVR.Zeppo wrote:I may find the time today or tomorrow AM to make a list of all the released FAs and post it in the FA thread. Also, did Mac ever update his FA releases? He released two guys under 65.

What if people submitted their list of ranking by position they are looking for. For example if Team A knows they want to get a CB, S, OL, and DL, in that order, they can rank the CB's in order, Safeties in order, O-line in order, and D-line in order. That shouldn't make it any harder for Dan.
First round just take the top ranked CB on the list and go on down the line. No extra instructions or anything to complicate things for Dan. If all of the players are gone by the time it gets to you he can just go to the next position. If you only get 2 players, you only get 2 players.
And if you need any help with any of this I'd be more than willing to get in a party chat with you and help Dan. Don't hesitate to ask.

I think something like this (a sticky thread) could work. Especially if we have some sort of basic time deadline for each pick, along with optional rank lists for those that can't do the draft on the forums.Brando70 wrote:If that's not possible, what about just making a sticky thread and letting people post their picks? We could set something up s.t. each team has one-two hours after the previous pick to make their selection. Quite a few people will make their picks really fast, as most of us spend a lot of time on the forums, and have mobile devices s.t. we can make picks if we're not at a PC. And as long as we're not doing this on Thanksgiving day, it should work out time-wise such that we'll be done by Monday.
And for those that can't be online for sort of a rolling draft, they can submit backup draft lists to Danimal, which he can then use to make a pick if someone misses their time deadline or will be unable to participate in a rolling draft.
This makes the need for complex draft lists unnecessary, as teams can prioritize to make their own picks, and should save Dan a lot of work.
Just a thought, let me know what you all think.
Personally, I think that's the best way. It's how we did the FA Draft in the Bottom 8 Franchise I ran. It was a single draft thread with the initial post showing all rounds and picks, as well as best available free agents (commissioner can copy and paste the FA list from the website) for offense and defense.
Went pretty smoothly.

Jared, I like your idea, but I think a two hour time limit per pick could be problematic. Essentially, everyone is going to have to sit around for a couple of days checking the forum. Maybe that's not a problem for many, I don't know.
I like Scoop's idea for the list method, but Dan was pretty specific about not doing it by position, so I'm sure he has a good reason we aren't thinking of. Either way, it does mean that Dan will have to put in quite a bit of time to get it all done. But at least with Scoops list we would avoid the problem of someone, say, looking to make sure he gets one CB but only one, and not sure how to prioritize his list, he ends up getting three CBs.

I think a time limit would also be a problem with the thread alternative, but how about this:
--We set up a thread for the FA draft with the list in the first post.
--The owner selects his FA and says which team is next.
--The owner sends a PM to the next owner letting him know he's up. If everyone has the PM settings to receive e-mail, they won't have to check the board all day.
--Dan can update the FA list when its convenient, but we should be able to follow who is left on our own.
