Yeah, I don't buy too many single player games anymore (like Brutal Legend), and this would be an automatic, but AC is just my kind of game. But if I can figure out how, I'll have both this evening. Otherwise, I'll have to wait until gf ships it, and buy it after that.Danimal wrote:I saw enough in 90 minutes last night that I may trade in clunkers like Brutal Legend and others and get the 360 version too. It seems like enough DSP peeps are getting it.

Played this for several hours. Really like what they did with the new campaigns, at certain parts there are objectives and the end battle for campaign one is actual a scavenger mode type thing.
speaking of which is the new scavenger MP mode is great, it's a nice fast MP way to play when you don't have time for a full vs campaign and with the size of the new maps that full VS could take a while.
In scavenge mode one team trys to find gas cans to keep something running as they get more cans and fill up the tank the get more time. If they run out of time between fills they are done. This is a best of 3 type situation and they really though of everything.
For example one team tonight was tossing gas cans down to their other team mates on the floor. But the spitter can set those cans on fire.
Really like this game, much better then I thought it was going to be.

I picked my preorder up and was able to play through the first 2 sections of the first campaign solo. I liked the first one a lot and this one betters it in every way except maybe the characters. Maybe I'll end up liking the new ones best in time but for now I like the originals better. I love the addition of the melee weapons and I love the addition of 3 new Special Infected. There's also some infected that I am starting to refer to as tweeners. These are infected that are a little more than your average infected but not on the same level as the Special Infected. In the first campaign they are wearing hazmat suits. In the demo they were wearing police riot gear. I think the new additions make the game a bit tougher but much more enjoyable. I haven't even looked at all of the new modes but from what Danimal is saying they sound pretty cool. Maybe we can play some co-op Danimal, that is if you don't feel like kicking me.

Yes up for co-op whenever.
The tweeners are actually called uncommon common. I won't give away the others that you see but they are cool. I like how the infected die in different ways now, hit them in the leg of chest etc and there is something satisfying about chainsawing a bunch of them.
I actually think 2 of the new characters the coach and the hill billy guy are much funnier then the original people. The more you play the more banter you will here. One thing is for sure the coach loves food "cotton Candy..Kings of Foods"
I may be on tonight at some point, but for the people who loved the first one I think you're really going to love scavenger mode. It's a nice MP variant that can be played in like 20 minutes for a complete game.

Surprised at the silence on this one, by far one of the best non-hyped shooter out there right now
Game is much harder this time out, playing on Normal will give you a challenge. I've done 4 of the campaigns, well to be fair we didn't finish the 4th last night. They are all unique in their own way and the out door environments make it much more of a challenge to play and require a lot more team work.
Hard Rain is by far the best campaign so far. You need to go get gas and then come back so everything you take going out is gone on the way back. So if you hit the safe rooms and use up all the health packs or pipe bombs along the way your in trouble. This level is also covered with witches, there is an actual achievement if you make it through the level without disturbing a witch which is pretty hard. The best part about this level is as the hurricane comes in it is almost impossible to see more then 10 feet in front of your face but it also effects communication. If your outside in the middle of the storm and someone is not right next to you good luck hearing them.
I'll also say it again the new scavenge mode is fantastic. I snagged a 360 copy to play with you guys but being smart it is not opened because I wanted to see what was gonna happen here first.

I'm getting the game, but I just don't know when I'll be able to play it in the immediate future. We've had a pretty long week at work, and next week Thanksgiving is bringing me down to DC to my folks place to hang with my sister and bro in law, so I doubt I will be playing it much until Saturday night when I get back home.
I may not have it right on release or be ready to put mad hours in during the first few days, but you know me, I hang on to games a long time and see no reason not to keep playing the ones I really like for months and months, at least once in a while.

I have a feeling you're really going to like this one Zep. The 3 new Special Infected zombies present some pretty crazy situations and add a lot to the experience. You'll quickly learn that you want to take out the Spitter before she gets too close or she can deplete the whole parties' health packs quick. The Charger can sneak up on you and ram the hell out of you. Last night a Charger rammed Danimal right through some fire and totally seperated him from the group. There was a time when a Jockey jumped on my head and almost took me off the side of a building and another time when a Jockey ran me right into a Charger. You don't start a level with heavy artillery either. You basically start with either a handgun or a melee weapon and have to fight your way through a lot to finally get something more substantial.
Dan, sorry my connection was on the fritz last night. We didn't get a chance to play much but it sure was fun what we did get to play.

Speaking solely for my kids and their friends, there is no game series that has seen more gaming time in my x360 than L4D and L4D2. I play a few hours of this and that, but I can't believe my oldest and her friends can start playing at 5 pm and in the morning they tell me they went to bed around 3 AM.
I've briefly played L4D2 - and they've really done a great job with all they added and changed in the game.
Gaming has never been this saturated with so many great games!
