And down goes #3! Good thing I've got the PRP from Best Buy. Now the question is...do I pack up the entire system and bring it back, or do I just bring the Xbox itself and keep everything else?
I'm having weird issues...I'll be playing ANY game and it'll beep once (almost like the bios of a PC) and it'll freeze. It does it on the dashboard, during games, during movies, during music...doesn't matter what I do. Bastard!

Bring everything back but the HDD but if it were me i'd give it back anyway just in case it fails down the road. You can always download your stuff again and transfer over your license for all the games you bought. Keep in mind the new 360's are now Jasper chips so the power supply is different as in lower wattage output. I think it's now 125 instead of 195 due to the 65nm chips in the 360.dbdynsty25 wrote:And down goes #3! Good thing I've got the PRP from Best Buy. Also I bought one of the new Nyko Intercoolers which have their own power supply and my 360 is running MUCH cooler and has lasted close to 1.5 years (the longest i've had one with no problems). It's pretty sad when 1.5 years of use is somewhat of an achievement.

I was feeling the end was near so I didnt wait for #3 to die I just bought the MW2 elite. When I added up the extra controller, the game itself and the extra HD space it was too much for this fool to resist.Brando70 wrote:I almost wish the damn thing would just die so I'd have an excuse to get a newer, quieter one.
LOL, now there's a sales pitch.XXXIV wrote:I was feeling the end was near so I didnt wait for #3 to die I just bought the MW2 elite. Aside from the noise and the occasional bit of disc stoppage (where it'll stop spinning for a couple seconds and start up again), my 360 works fine -- which I'm grateful for. But my very quiet PS3 has spoiled me. Playing Madden in particular on my 360 sounds like the jets taking off in Top Gun.

Naw...that thing is ugly. Best Buy swapped it out only after asking me what was wrong with it. They didn't even power it on or anything...just said go get a new one. You've got 279.99 to go towards whichever one you want. Went with another Arcade, got the 50 dollar 2 year protection plan, and got my 30 dollar refund. Can't beat it.Rodster wrote:dbdynsty25 wrote:Rod...I've got an arcade that I threw the 120gb HD on so I know I'm not gonna bring the HD back. I'm actually gonna see if they'll let me get a more expensive unit and pay the difference since the Arcades are definitely not $279 like they were when I purchased mine.

In my opinion if you get anything other then an Arcade your asking for trouble.
I used my Best Buy plan a few weeks back on a Pro unit, they said I needed to bring in everything to which I protested that I would lose my stuff on the HD and they said I could pay $50 to transfer it which was BS. So after much going back and forth with the manager and me telling him to look at my account, which he did and he saw how many games I buy he gave me an elite as an exchange and transferred it at no cost.
Now I'm 3 weeks in an the Elite is making noise, I'm contemplating taking it back and getting an arcade unit. My other one is an Arcade with a Jasper and you can't even hear the thing when it is on. IMO Microsoft just said f*** it and put the good chips only in the Arcades.

It's funny. Yesterday when I did my exchange at Best Buy, I walked out with an Elite and a 30 dollar charge on my credit card. I thought about it more and more as I left the store...I even drove back to my office (only like 2 min. away). I sat in the parking lot and thought about the trouble I'd have getting my 120 gb hard drive transferred over, then the fact that all my peripherals are white and now the Elite is black. And also, I wasnt' about to pay 80 dollars for a Product Replacement Plan on a 300 dollar product. However, I really liked having the plan as it obviously already paid for itself on my previous Xbox.Danimal wrote:In my opinion if you get anything other then an Arcade your asking for trouble.

So I went back, swapped the Elite for an Arcade and got the service plan for 40 bucks. 20% of the cost is certainly better than 26% and I don't have to worry about the HD transfer.
So this is the long and short of me agreeing with you. 200 bucks for an Arcade, then use my current HD...and have a performance replacement plan...definitely the way to go in my book.
