One of the best ever fellas... Enjoy Manny Pacquiao cuz there ain't gonna be like him in a minute...
Once we tasted what Cotto had in the 1st and test ourselves it was over...
Too fast, too good... Too Strong... Manny is STRONG! Period! No matter what weight... And obviously way too fast...
Miguel is good tough dude, but over-matched!
Good fight Javi... Sorry your guy got busted up... Hope he is okay. He is a good classy dude...
Real talks... After the $Hit we have gone through in the typhoons, we deserve an evening to celebrate...
We... WANT... FLOYD! I've been calling for this when Manny was a featherweight! I'm not saying we'll beat floyd... But... Humbly... I just wanna see what FLoyd will do when we make him fight, with nuff boxing skillz, and more so, heart attached...
LET'S GET IT ON!

I think PBF would be the odds on favorite but from what Manny has shown the last several fights I wouldn't bet against him. I think the world is waiting to see PBF's speed & defense against Manny's speed and crazy angle shots. That will even be more intriguing to see how PBF defends against it.
Btw the Sopcast feed was a 9/10 last night. It held up well throughout the fight.

The differences in the corners last night were stunning.
Joe Santiago is clearly way out of his depth as Cotto's trainer. After a few rounds, he dispensed no advice. Just said: "You're doing fine. Keep doing it," etc.
Plus Cotto's corner didn't put an Endswell on his swollen eyes until around the eighth or ninth round. His eyes were swelling by the fifth. And I don't recall seeing anyone put any kind of coagulant into the cut over Cotto's left eye. Vaseline was the only substance Cotto's corner used on his cut, even as it worsened.
Horrible, horrible corner work. Cotto better mend fences with his uncle Evangelista and get him back into his corner if he continues to fight.
Meanwhile, Roach continually reminded Manny of his strategy, kept him calm and focused. Freddie showed people why he is one of the two best trainers in the world, along with Naziim Richardson, in my opinion.
The only thing in Pacquiao's corner that was odd last night was how Buboy was translating Freddie's instructions into Tagalog for Manny. Normally Freddie speaks directly to Manny in English with no translation.
Wonder why they used Buboy to interpret last night?
In no way am I saying the trainers made the difference last night. Manny is too fast, too strong and too unpredictable for just about anyone in the world right now at 147.
But the difference in corner skill was even more stark than the difference in fighter skill.
Take care,
PK

1) Possibly for the Philippino audience. Manny is a huge draw right now around the world.pk500 wrote: 1)Wonder why they used Buboy to interpret last night?

The only sad aspect of the victory for Manny is that we're getting closer and closer to the end of his magnificent career.
Think about it: How many legitimate, competitive fights are left for this guy, who only seems to have an appetite to fight the best? I can think of only two definite fights at 147, with the addition of possibly a third:
1. Mayweather
2. Winner of Mosley-Berto
3. Margarito?
Who else is left at 147? Clottey, Quintana? No way.
What about 140? Bradley? He's not in Pacman's league, at least not yet.
Who could come down from 154? Williams? Yes, but I think The Punisher's days at 147 are done. He's concentrating on 154 and 160. But Williams would drop the weight for a big payday, and a triumph over The Punisher arguably would be Manny's greatest win.
Otherwise, there's just not much left on the horizon for Pacquiao.
Manny has 55 professional fights, and conventional boxing wisdom states that once a fighter passes the 50-bout mark, he's really exposing himself to more likely long-term damage. He is making HUGE money now; the extended Pacquiao clan is set for life. Plus Manny already has run for office in The Philippines and continues to express interest in politics in his homeland.
So sit back and enjoy and admire the Pacman while you can. He's one of the greatest fighters we'll see in our or any lifetime. And he's hanging up the gloves sooner than you may think.
Take care,
PK

Just got done watching the fight and I expected nothing less from Manny. He is just on another level right now. The past year-and-a-half have been special to watch from him. As with everyone else I want to see a Mayweather/Manny fight but doubt Floyd has the sack to commit to it.
I am a patient boy.
I wait, I wait, I wait, I wait.
My time is water down a drain.

“If Floyd Mayweather wants to fight Manny Pacquiao he knows who to call,” said Bob Arum, the CEO of Top Rank Boxing, the promotion which handles Pacquiao.
Within minutes, Ross Greenberg, the head of HBO Sports said he had spoken to Richard Shaefer of Golden Boy Promotions, which represents Mayweather.
“Richard told me point blank, Bob Arum will be getting that call Monday,” Greenberg said. “He plans on meeting next week with Bob to make the Mayweather fight.”

Cotto started very strong. You only have to look at Pacquiao's face today, that despite his impressive win it was not a walk in a park. Especially in the early rounds wgere he took some hard punches. Rounds two to four were just epic and from the fifth round on, Pac-man's speed and strengh started to take over the fight.
Regarding Floyd's chances of fighting Pacquiao, it'll all depends how the negotiations go with B. Arum, whom he doesn't like very much. There's been some bad feelings in the past among those two. But money talks and it'll be a ridicoulus amount that will thrown out there to make the fight a reality.

It all depends on his trainer, I think. If Cotto keeps Joe Santiago in his corner, he risks serious, serious injury. Santiago is WAY out of his depth.jLp vAkEr0 wrote:On the flip side, is there any reason (other than $, duh) for Cotto to keep fighting?
The guy has just been destroyed in 2 of his last 3 fights and other that a rematch with Margarito, what other fight will people even be interested in watching that involves him?
If Cotto somehow can mend fences with Uncle Evangelista, then he could continue. He's only 29, only has 36 professional fights.
Plus you need to look long-term. The welterweight division will be WIDE OPEN for the taking within two years. Manny, Mosley and even Floyd most likely will be retired by then. Margarito will be 33, although this one-year suspension will help prolong his career, saving his body. Paul Williams will stay at 154 and above.
It looks like the welterweights could be a world of Berto, Cotto and maybe Margarito. Cotto still can make nice money in this division if he sticks around.
But he MUST get a better corner. They were inept in preparation and during the Pacquiao fight.
It startled me during the pre-fight buildup when I read a few people say that Cotto called the shots during preparation for his fight with Clottey and for this fight, his only two fights with Santiago as his trainer. That shows even more weakness for Santiago.
The trainer runs the show. Manny Pacquiao is the biggest star in boxing and an international sports supernova, but when Freddie Roach says "jump," Manny still says, "How high?" Freddie still runs that camp with an iron fist, and that's the way a trainer-fighter relationship must be.
Take care,
PK

Upon further review, I think my claim that Cotto's corner used no coagulant to stop the flow from the cut over his left eye was incorrect. I remember seeing the cutman using an epinephrine-soaked cotton swab.
But that appeared to be the only coagulant Cotto's corner used. That cut was deep -- it needed Avitene or thrombin. I never saw any of those solutions used.
Another example of the poor work done by Cotto's corner Saturday night.
Take care,
PK
