No Torres, no Gerrard = no Benitez.

Pity I didn't have that beach ball in me fantasy League team.

That beach ball was a better finisher than the 11 players Liverpool had out there. We should sign it....but we have no money....oh well....

The black and gold kits might be the ugliest thing, well other than Liverpools performance.

Dave you're right, Benetiz is nothing more than those two.

Macca, you're right about Maradona. Never a dull moment which is what you guys need now. However Rafa will last a bit longer than Diego whom based on the way he guided the National Argentina team, should resign next month. I don't fault him for telling the press to 'suck it', that's the raw Maradona that I've known from his playing years to today, but tactically he doesn't have a clue how to coach.

Just give Mark H a ring, tell him that you'll sell Torres and Gerrard for £60m (wouldn't pay more than £20m for Gerrard, bit injury-prone)...voila, problem solved.

Alternatively, you could wait until one or other of the American circus brothers sell their share, though apparently the Saudi prince ain't interested in taking on all the debt.

Beach ball ref dropped down to Championship.

http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story ... nd&cc=5901

That's probably the correct move notwithstanding the ball incident, as he was pretty dreadful. I never thought I'd see a real ref do a poorer job of playing advantage than FIFA '09, but he managed to singlehandedly stop attacks for both teams several times.

If they get beaten by Lyon in the next tie, the Royal Bank of Scotland will be on the phone at 9.01am the next day.

So the next time City have a punt for Torres at £50m, the RBS will advise them to take it, and not reject it as they did over the summer. And if Liverpool look like they will miss out on CL football next year, then the klaxons will be going off full pelt at the bank...

Tough loss and more so when you have so many key injuries. But I also think the managers' decison to withdraw Yossi towards the end only to replace him with Voronin says it all for Liver fans. If they don't pull a miracle this weekend vs MU, Rafa may be counting his days. Poor passing, no confidence, no flow in the game.

Prose is inadequate to the task. First a haiku:

Liverpool are dead
owners on down are bankrupt
fan's feel? bile vomit

Sonnet coming up next...

Big game this weekend.....I'm sure United are crapping themselves.

With laughter.

Ho hum.

At least my 'real life' soccer team is winning....oh wait....we've lost two in a row......er......Uncharted 2 is the greatest game ever!!!!

EDIT:

Oh yeah, Rubin Kazan or whatever beat Barca 2-1 at the Nou Camp. See what happens when you sign Ibrahimovic?!?! :)

Getting rid of him isn't helping Inter much in the CL.

It's Liverpool we are talking about - you need to fit either 'grief' or 'grieving' into your opus. How about changing the last line to

"fans feel terrible grief" - 5 syllables...sorted.

Literary Ed.

I don't think too many ManU players are laughing now. What a fun match to watch.

Agreed.....what a ridiculous week.

Lucas had his best game in a red shirt. Absolutely shat on Carrick in that midfield.

USA's first U-17 WC game is today on ESPNU and ESPN360 at 2pm.

I normally pay more attention to the U-20 cup, but the US team this round was awful, while this U-17 group is pretty highly rated.

The US team will be missing a few notable players (Sebastian Lletget who is with West Ham, and Charles Renken and Joseph Gyau, who have signed with Hoffenheim's academy), but still have lots of quality in the lineup (supposedly).

Midfielder Luis Gil has been rumored to sign with Arsenal, and in the snippets I've seen Stefan Jerome is a top notch talent at forward. Jack McInerny is also highly rated at forward.

Worth DVR-ing at least for me.

No, it's not orange enough. Having seen the highlights (sic) of Hull vs Portsmouth from Saturday, I now believe in the concept of purgatory, and I'm an atheist.
