Need you to lose your next one too, Slumber. Since you blasted my team earlier in the season, you need to lose one more please :)

That way I have the hope of not running into Jared until the AFC Championship Game if I can make it that far. If I stay as the current #4 seed and win a wildcard, he'd be my divisional round opponent.

So...rest everybody up for the playoffs and lose one more, please

Giants 24 - Redskins 27

The Redskins kept their slim playoff hopes alive by eeking out an overtime win over the visiting Giants. The key play turned out to be the only turnover of the game as SS Chris Horton picked off Eli Manning in the second quarter and returned it for the score.

The Redskins dominated time of possession, but theirdefense gave up long TD passes to keep the Giants in the game. The Skins won the toss in OT and that proved to be key as well as Campbell and Co. drove into field goal range on the back of Clinton Portis.

Great game, G7. The Redskins will need help to get in the playoffs, as their conference schedule is worse than that ofthe Vikings.

Danimal wrote:By sometime next week we should be in the playoffs if my logic is correct. This means for those of us not in the playoffs and also those teams as well, you should start preparing for the off-season.

1. Players on IR

Teams with players on IR need to post in the FA thread whether they are reclaiming those players or not. If they are you need to post who you are releasing. You can do the actual release and claim after the season is over. In other words I will give you the word, just start thinking about it.

2. FA Draft

Per the rules I posted last week and in the first post you will be exposing guys to FA. (Jared - I liked your idea but there was too much work involved for me at this point, possibly next year if this system doesn't turn out well)

You can post those guys in the FA thread starting after your last game. You don't need to release them, I will handle all of that.
Two questions about this, since I've been focused on the offseason for most of the season :P

--From what I saw in the draft videos, retirements look like they happen before the draft. Will we be able to see who retires before we designate our players for the FA draft?

--The FA draft is a strict draft, with no use of points, correct? So when I draft, I can just pick whomever I want from the FA pool, regardless of their rating or the rating of the guys I released. The only restriction is that I can only draft as many players as I release.

Yes, excellent game Zeppo.

Giants fall to 1-4 after the bye week and, sadly, lose a third consecutive to divisional opponent by a mere 3 points.

As you indicated, the single turnover in the game was the 2nd quarter pick-6 thrown by Eli. True to recent form, my inability to keep opposing offenses of the field was my downfall.

Of course, for a second straight week, lightning quick scores helped me keep the game close. However, the old adage that defense wins the tight contests was proven true again.

Good luck the rest of the way.

I don't know, I have a test league set up where I am simming a week everytime I turn on my Xbox, hopefully by the end of the week i will know. EA is a bunch of tools because not only did they put a 30 minute timer on simming weeks, they put it on account. So if I sim the DSP franchise i can't sim another franchise until 30 minutes go by

Correct you pick from the pool , no points are spent. It may not be the most realistic option and others have been presented to me but with the inability to get any real data from the game without me actually typing it out it's what we are trying for year one.

Thats what I get for agreeing to be wired for sound. :P ...I only asked one thing. Dont f***in fumble!...

The game should be referred to as the the Self-fulfilling Prophecy Bowl as I took the lead when you fulfilled yours of giving up a long clock chewing 4th qtr drive. Should be noted that you did assist on said drive as you saved a couple of long TD's with shoe-string tackles.

Again, good game...That was fun and another great example why the headset is a beautiful thing.

I wish they tracked ankle tackles separately because I may have broken the single game record. I must have had 4-5 of them just on that TD drive.

It is funny that both of our predictions came true. I also have to be leading the league in Drives-Over-5-Minutes-That-Win-the-Game-Allowed.

The Vikings came into their game against the Panthers with some momentum, but they've had a very hard time closing out games this year.

The Panthers jumped out to a 21-10 lead in the 3rd quarter, but on the ensuing kickoff, Percy Harvin raced 104 yards for a touchdown. The Vikings converted the 2-point conversion to get within a field goal.

The teams traded blows until Minnesota was able to score with one minute left to take a 25-21 lead. The question was whether or not they would be able to close it out.

Carolina QB Josh McCown (replacing an injured Jake Delhomme) started moving the ball with a couple of short passes, including one to Dwayne Jarrett:

<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>

They still had timeouts but as they moved down the field, the clock kept ticking down. Next it was a pass to Steve Smith, his first reception of the day:

<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>

Tick, tick, tick...on the next play McCown scrambled for another first down:

<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>

With first down at the Vikings' 29 yard-line, Carolina made it's first attempt at the go-ahead touchdown:

<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>

That left them about 8 seconds on the clock with no timeouts:

<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>

And that would be the very definition of "bend but don't break" defense.
The sing-along songs'll be our scriptures.

Jags win 28-10 with less than 100 yards total offense. Two kick returns and a INT return and he's up 21-10 with 37 total yards.

Also I hate to report what I deem is a total lack of sportsmanship. I turn the ball over inside two minutes down on my 25 or so and being down 21-10 and only two timeouts left I toss in the towel. Not only did my opponent call quick plays when it was obvious I wasn't going to call timeouts, he also ran outside when I was obviously in a goal line defense.

Now I've played these games for years and I know if you want to run the clock out, you run the play clock down and you run up the middle. This is not what he did even after I did not use a timeout on the previous running play. So he runs outside and scores with 1:10 to go. I guess he felt like he had to score one touchdown on his own since the other three were gifts.

I've seen great sportsmanship in every game I played but this one just rubs my ass the wrong way.

Shades of the Titans in the SB there...albeit not quite as close to the endzone.

Dolphins drown the Titans

Post by tmdba37 »

Apparently, the Real Titans decided to show up for the Late Late Game of the Week Wednesday Night as the Dolphins and Ronnie Brown ran all over them to the tune of a 28-7 thrashing.

The Dolphins and Titans exchanged Punts to start the game, but the Fins won out the early field position war as Chris Johnson was shut down repeatedly getting only 9 yards on 5 attempts. . .

Ronnie Brown running out of traditional and Wildcat Formations tore it up gaining 141 Yards on 14 carries and two touchdowns. . .

Anyway, thanks goes out to Jared as I really appreciate him staying up late and shaking off the jet lag to give me some much needed 1 on 1 play as the Titans finish the season with two CPU matchups. . .not quite the ideal leadup to the playoffs. . .so again thanks and good luck in the playoffs. . .

Sorry to hear that Badgun but that would have never happened in a game with mics. Hell, my last game against Rob the same exact situation occurred and I told him I wasn't going to take my timeouts so he kneeled on the ball, but I digress.

Scoop, you may be right, but if I didn't take a timeout on the previous play wouldn't that just scream "ok, it's over now kneel the damn ball"? Not to mention that he came back and snapped the ball again with about 18 seconds on the play clock and then ran outside.

I don't know, in a 21-10 game that seems to be completely over what is the best way for me to blow the game? Oh, I know...by doing something stupid and fumbling the ball. I guess that's why I should run the ball and run it outside no less...so I can get hit and turn the ball over.

Even if I had taken both of my timeouts he could have still effectively ran the clock out. Even if he doesn't kneel there is absolutely no reason to run outside and the play he ran looked like a dive play that he just pulled the stick to the left as soon as the ball was snapped. He knew what he was doing and he was trying to score. I had goal line defense called, he takes the guy outside and with no hesitation he scored.

Even if you break a tackle or something most people that have any decency at all would hit the x button on go down before the goal line.

Maybe I'm making a mountain out of a mole hill, but given the game situation and the place on the field there is absolutely no reason for him to be running the ball outside at all. The previous play he had ran up the middle for about 4 yards and I didn't really think anything of that. I didn't call a timeout so I thought he would get the message. Surely there's no explanation for calling a play and getting right back to the line. He didn't even run the play clock. I'm sorry, sometimes these things happen by accident...this was no accident.

At that point he had 60 total yards for the game and no offensive scores at all...I guess he had to do it to make himself feel better.
