The Vikings came into their game against the Panthers with some momentum, but they've had a very hard time closing out games this year.
The Panthers jumped out to a 21-10 lead in the 3rd quarter, but on the ensuing kickoff, Percy Harvin raced 104 yards for a touchdown. The Vikings converted the 2-point conversion to get within a field goal.
The teams traded blows until Minnesota was able to score with one minute left to take a 25-21 lead. The question was whether or not they would be able to close it out.
Carolina QB Josh McCown (replacing an injured Jake Delhomme) started moving the ball with a couple of short passes, including one to Dwayne Jarrett:

They still had timeouts but as they moved down the field, the clock kept ticking down. Next it was a pass to Steve Smith, his first reception of the day:

Tick, tick, tick...on the next play McCown scrambled for another first down:

With first down at the Vikings' 29 yard-line, Carolina made it's first attempt at the go-ahead touchdown:

That left them about 8 seconds on the clock with no timeouts:

And that would be the very definition of "bend but don't break" defense.
The sing-along songs'll be our scriptures.
