I'm going to say one thing about headsets and then leave it to next season. I said a head set rule was going to be put in place, but wait until I posted anything before jumping in. Obviously that didn't happen.

No one has any idea what the rule was going to be, yet people choose to be somewhat defiant, call me someone who was on a power trip and quit, although I am still unsure why he left.

Here is what my rule was going to be, WHETHER WE IMPLEMENT IT NEXT SEASON IS NOT DECIDED.

It would be preferable if you have a headset to set up a Live Party before the game. Talk to your opponent through the set up screen about uniforms, what you will do in case of a disconnect etc. Then if you don't wish to talk, politely tell the opponent that and keep the headset nearby in case something occurs.

If you don't own a headset you won't be required to purchase one, just make these same arrangement via PM or message before the game.

Having said that I am unsure why anyone would join a league like this and not want to use a headset. I'm not the most talkative guy while playing but the occasional good drive, or nice play etc is about what I do. Sometimes I talk more with people I know more like Zep etc.

While I never said a headset was required for play, I would think if you're joining a league of friends (even virtual friends) you're going to talk to them. At this point everyone who is in the league is doing a great job playing their games and what not so I would never tell someone to leave because they weren't talking on Live during games.

I'd also like to say if you think running something like this is easy, I'll give you a gander at my PM's and Live messages. Anyone could of stepped up and took this on, anyone could start their own franchise right now. No one has done so, but some people have decided to harp on my rules and how I want things run. It's frustrating to say the least.

This will be my last post about new rules etc until the season is done. I will play the games, advance the weeks and continue to do whatever else needs to be done. Lets get to the playoffs and go from there.

Well, i may not be the first to do so and I am not about to see if anyone has said it yet, but I want to commend Danimal and the board for running this league.

It has been a long time since i have had this much fun with a football game. I have always considered everyone here a friend and I don't think I have personally met a single one of you. I have some friends who I play COD with that want to start a small OF and I have posed questions to the league concerning things that work here (FA and so) They have NO CLUE what they are trying to do and I only mentioned a few of the issues I could see arising.

Playoffs or not, I am looking forward to playing this game twice a week until 2011 ships. I can honestly say I see myself doing this!!!!

A few things from a guy who is certainly less involved in this league than many:

1. Sorry about my lack of posts in this thread. I started a new job about a month ago and was forced to dive right in the deep end. I'm doing my best to get all of my games in and let people know right away when I'm available, but I do apologize for a lack of presence.

2. I'm pretty sure that we're all grown men here. All of the human v human games have been wonderful and a lot of fun (even though I've s*** the bed three times in a row in increasingly excruciating fashion). Like nozzle, I haven't had this much fun with a football game in years. I think we can figure all of these issues out without anyone having to leave the league. I think the general rule of waiting 12 hours to post something if you're a little pissed off would be a good one to adopt.

3. AD is back and pissed that he missed the Bears game, so watch your back Rob. ;)

Oh, and the Vikings whupped the Cards last night. It started a little shady with Arizona jumping to a quick lead. The Vikings used huge days from Peterson and Harvin to get back in the game and were able to pull away in the 2nd half. I tried to set up some highlights, but it wasn't working correctly last night so I let it go.
The sing-along songs'll be our scriptures.

I also need a volunteer or two to help me test the draft function of the online franchise. I have no idea how it works and we will have a college draft next season.

I want to start up another OF with at least 2 people, sim through the whole season and then see what happens. I want to do all this while I am online and talking to someone else via a Live party.

If anyone is interested in helping shoot me a PM and we can determine a time.

Thanks

"Scoop, great game brother! Not to take anything from this win for me, but all I can think about is not having to play the CPU when you were hurt. Not that I would have won, but I can't help but wonder. "

This was posted in my game recap of the 2nd meeting.
You also made mention of it towards the end of our game. I don't need to hear it a fourth time, I'm well aware you think things would have been different had I not hurt my hand and we played instead of you having to play the cpu. Light hearted or not, if somebody says the same thing 3 times you are likely to take it seriously because if they said it 3 times they likely do.

For the record I said I was taking a break from the league, not quitting outright. My next game is against the cpu and my final 3 are against Rob, vader, and Terry. Knowing how much it sucks to play the cpu and how we all joined this league to play DSPers I will gladly rejoin for the human games so they don't have to be bored playing the cpu. If they would prefer to play the cpu I will bow out to accomodate their wishes. The break during the playoffs will be welcome before the start of season 2.
I am a patient boy.
I wait, I wait, I wait, I wait.
My time is water down a drain.

Redskins 14 - Raiders 27

The Redskins traveled out to Oakland and were manhandled by the resurget Raiders in a game that could have been closer than the final score would indicate.

Darren McFadden had a huge day for the Raiders, despite being a key focus of the Redskins defense. He opened the scoring on a short run to the right on 3rd and goal just at the start of the 2nd quarter. On the Redskins' next possession, Jason Campbell and Co. were able to move the ball well, but the drive was halted by the first turnover of the day, an ill-conceived throw from Campbell on an angle route where he failed to account for the second LB bracketing Portis.

<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>
Jason Campbell throws his first of two interceptions, one of three Redskins turnovers in the game.

That turnover gave the Raiders good field position, and four runs and one pass later, the score was 14-0 Raiders.

But the Redskins wouldn't quit so easily, and on their next possession, Campbell pulled a nice play action fake, was flushed out to his left, set his feet and heaved a huge pass down the field to a streaking Santana Moss for the visitors' first score of the game with 0:54 remaining in the half.

<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>
Santana Moss shows his speed on this 71 yd TD pass from Campbell.

With less than a minute to go in the half, the Raiders were feeling greedy, and it could have cost them. Chris Horton was stepped in front of this pass from Garcia to end the threat and give the Redskins the ball.

<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>
Chris Horton, in the right place at the right time, makes the interception near the end of the first half.

But the Redskins proved to be equally greedy, and it cost them. As Campbell tried to push for a score even from deep in his own end, Clinton Portis fumbled after a little swing pass, and gave the Raiders the ball in field goal range with 0:20 to go in the half. Though they would try to score the TD, the Raiders had to settle for the field goal from the Redskins 3yd line with 0:03 left on the clock, making the score 17-7 at the break.

The second half was much more of the same. The Raiders continued their running attack as McFadden ended the day with 153 yds on 18 carries, Michael Bush adding 17 yds of his own on 9 carries. They would add to their lead with a filed goal to make the score 20-7 as the fourth quarter started.

The Redskins continued to fight for the win, however, refusing to lie down. Clinton Portis capped a nice drive with a 15yd TD run with 7:22 remaining in the game, making the score 20-14 with plenty of time left.

<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>
Clinton Portis runs for the touchdown in the second half.

As the Raiders pounded the ground game, looking to eat up all the clock they could, the Redskins forced them into a huge 3rd and 10 at the Skins 42 with 3:08 to go. With all their times out remaining, the Skins were looking for a make-or-break stop. But Garcia was able to find a wide open McFadden over the middle to convert the 3rd down, and it was all over but the cryin' after that.

<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>
Darren McFadden with his only catch of the day, a key 3rd down conversion late in the game.

The Skins could only hope to hold the Raiders to a FG, but even that proved impossible as Garcia found Zach Miller with a 23 yd TD pass to ice the game.

Campbell and his boys tried valiantly to find a miracle, but their hopes were dashed with an ill-advised and underthown toss from Campbell looking for Malcolm Kelly, a play that would end the 2nd year receiver's season as he suffered a torn pectoral muscle.

The Redskins fall to 8-5, and with three games remaining, two at home against the division rivals NY Giants and Dallas Cowboys, will most likely need to win out to have any hope of making the playoffs.

Great game, Terry. I knew I had to be just about perfect and get some luck to win, and though I got a bit of luck, the perfection just wasn't there on my end on offense nor on defense. It was a fun as hell game, though, as always. Good luck the rest of the way!

Fantastic game. But to say that the Raiders were greedy and the safety stepped in front of the pass is a little off...that ball was thrown a good 4 yards TOO FAR

Had it been on the money...oh wait. It wasn't. Moot point.

Great, great game. That 3rd down late was massive. Wasn't sure whether to run it and try a long FG (Janikowski can hit from the 40) or go for the 1st. Was tough trying to shut down Portis and keep the receivers in front of me (which I obviously failed at on a few occasions).

Good gameplanning, that one could have easily swung the other way.

Dolphins defeat the Jaguars 28-9.

In a game characterized by the running game and no turnovers from either squad, the Dolphins capitalized in the red zone and defeated the Jaguars 28-9. The Dolphins were led by Ricky Williams, who had 9 rushes for 96 yards and three touchdowns. Pennington was his usual conservative self, going 10-14 for 136 yards passing. The Jaguars were led by their running game, with Maurice Jones-Drew running for 68 yards on 16 carries. However, the Jaguars passing attack was often inaccurate on important plays, and made it difficult to score in the red zone. Even with the loss, the Jaguars are still very much in the running for the final wild card spot at 8-5. Miami improves to 12-1, and can clinch home-field throughout the playoffs with a win against the Titans next week.

(sorry, no highlights, don't have time to put them up this week)

Oh, and for next week TMDBA, I'll be out of town until Wednesday night, and can only play then. If you can't play then, let me know, and I'll step out of the league for you to play the CPU.

Pittsburgh falls to Cleveland 17-10.

Pittsburgh jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the first quarter on a 28 yard pass to Hines Ward.
<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>

The Browns would score 10 second quarter points with a 1 yard touchdown pass from Brady Quinn to Lawrence Vickers and a late field goal to end the half up 10-7. After no scoring in the 3rd quarter Pittsburgh would tie the game up early in the fourth on a 28 yard field goal from Jeff Reed. Cleveland put together a time consuming drive and scored a touchdown with less than a minute to go on Lawrence Vickers second touchdown reception of the game.

With no timeouts the Steelers made it to the Browns 20 yard line on a 27 yard catch and run by Limas Sweed but it was too little too late as time expired.
<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>

Ben Roethlisberger ended up 10 for 17 with 207 yards 1 td and 2 ints and Brady Quinn ended up 16 for 21 with 154 yards 2 tds and 2 ints. Next week Pittsburgh will host the cpu Packers while Cleveland travels to take on the cpu Chiefs.

Great game nozzleman!

Pittsburgh also found out before the game that middle linebacker Lawrence Timmons will miss the rest of the season with a herniated disk.

Devin Hester and Adewale Ogunleye led the Bears to a triumphant 52-14 thrashing of the hated Green Bay Packers. While coach Varak denied that revenge for an opening week loss played any part in the mauling, the blood lust in the eyes of the Monsters of the Midway was unmistakable. More directly, Coach Varak got a bit carried away in his post-game press conference. "This was a boot across the throat of those cheesehead a-holes," said a clearly fired up Varak. "Watching Urlacher bury Aaron Rodgers like that was long overdue payback for that felon Charles Martin!"

The game was closely fought in the early going. The Bears opened with a 6-minute drive ending in a 1-yd Cutler sneak, but the Pack came right back with a quick strike of their own, 58-yds from Rodgers to Donald Driver.

The Packers capitalized on a Cutler pick to take the lead briefly to open the 2nd quarter, with Rodgers (who was incredibly accurate in the early going) finding J. Jones with an 8-yd pass.

Down 14-7, the Bears turned the game on its ear by scoring on 2 consecutive plays. Following the second Packer TD, the phenomenal Hester busted out for a 102-yd TD return. The Bears kickoff was returned by Will Blackmon, and special team monster Earl Bennet ripped the ball out of Blackmon's hands. The loose ball was scooped up by back-up LB Hunter Hillermeyer for a TD.

<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>

From that point on it was all Bears. The Packers RT was little more than a notion, and Ogunleye absolutely destroyed him for the duration...and the Packer's offense along with him. Ogunleye racked up 5 sacks and forced innumerable hurried throws, two of which ended up a INT's. The constant pressure culiminated in the 3rd quarter, as Brian Urlacher absolutely buried Aaron Rodgers and knocked him from the game.

<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>
One of Ogunleye's 5 sacks.

Cutler carved up the Packes defense relentlessly, finding Hester 8 times for 150 yards and a TD. Matt Forte had a quiet day with 15 carries for 83 yards.

I dont't think I've ever seen an OL whipped as badly as that Packers RT. I stopped using Ogunleye about mid-way through the 3rd quarter because it was just ridiculous. But I have to admit that this was as wholely satisfying as a CPU game can be.

And Zeppo...after sitting around most of the night and thinking back about that game, I gotta say that games like that are the reason I'm part of a league like this.

It was a tense affair, but it was always fun above anything else. Seeing your guys burn me was a laugh-inducing moment time and again, it seems. It was never a game that was out of hand, but sitting there talking about how we're seeing the game go from each of our perspectives was awesome.

I really don't know what else to say other than that was one of the most enjoyable games I've had in recent memory. Challenging, eventful, and downright bizarre in some cases. Just a fantastic outing that makes me glad that I'm part of this league.

Whats cool is I can say that about almost every human game I have played( even exhibitions with you guys.). Well except the game with Data where he just buried me...Though I do remember I did have fun in a strange way that game.(The realism of the Vikings destroying the Rams maybe)

Add a couple of minutes and play more seasons!...I want a new team though. ..NOT!...Must be the Rams. Besides, I would never give up looking at those beautiful throw back unis.

Great stuff there, Terry. I think it's very important that everyone gets a chance to watch those vids prior to draft time.

Not sure how I feel about the fact that the draft classes aren't random.

My favorite part was when he realized that ranking 80 players wasn't going to get him past the 4th round. Or maybe it was in the late rounds when he was looking for players with good "elusivity." LOL

Oh, and it looks like someone forgot the decimal point in JaMarcus Russell's Throwing Accuracy attribute. :)

Still, that first video was great. I had no idea how it would work, and that was a quick and easy introduction.

My favorite part was his entire draft.

The guy has 3 receivers with 90+ speed, a RB with 90+ speed, 4 corners with 90+ speed in Oakland...

And he goes all speed wideouts, HB, one cheesing mobile QB, and a KICKER to replace Janikowski...with his cannon leg?

Guy was obviously a cheeseball talking about going to the flats all day and throwing screens and going speed speed speed--then got eaten alive by Seattle saying "I'm running generic defense". BS. How do you run "generic" defense when he's blitzing left and right to stuff runs, etc. Just a bit full of himself, but in the end it was very useful info for how the draft itself will work.

One thing I was informed of that I'm not sure if it was in the video is that if you miss your pick, it's GONE. There's no "pick when you can", or "simulate". If you're online and you go too long, you just lost your pick.

So get that draft board straight.

I haven't watched them all but does he ever say the other purpose of the draft board is it's what the cpu uses to make your picks if you're not present.

Ok so this guy drafted 7 people and then didn't need to cut anyone? Are there no roster limits?

I still think I am going to have to run through this on my own and check it out

I'd like to see when retirees happen, because he thought he had Garcia but then didn't.

I'm sure the roster limit is still there, but if you draft the guy and don't have space on your roster, he's lost. So we have to make sure we all have enough slots prior to the draft to hold our draftees.

If we do a "FA Release" period, it has to be before the draft. I'd still like to go through an offseason, Danimal, to see what it's like so we can post stuff prior to the real deal.

And are you "Danimal66"? I couldn't remember but sent a friends request last night that went unanswered.
