Zeppo, good game/recap. I have to admit, its pretty neat to watch highlights of a game I played in. The turnovers were the difference. Otherwise you moved the ball a bit better than I did. I got all the breaks - see you in a few weeks. I doubt I'll be as fortunate next time.

GameSe7en, let me know when you want to play. I'm available every night after 9 and before 11. If those times dont work for you let me know what does - I'm flexible.

In a performance reminiscent of Bob Griese of the 72-73 editions of the Miami Dolphins, Bulger goes 7 of 8 for 118 yards and a TD in a 30-13 victory over the sad sad Detroit Lions.

Here we see Marc "Im an 8 year NFL starter without a clue. Amazing huh?" Bulger hit Donnie " fumbling is my middle name" Avery for a 21 yard TD.

The exposed Cowboys move to 5-2 after a 21-6 win over Seattle. POTG Marion Barber ran for 77yds on 18 carries with 2 tds. Boys D was stellar holding the Seahawks to just 2 fg's 31 rushing yards and 145 passing yards. Romo was 11 for 21 146 yds 1 td aand 1 int.

Its on to Philadelphia to face the Eagles in a tough division game.

Big plays and an opportunistic defense helped the Bears to a comfortable 45-22 win over the visiting Cleveland Browns. A couple of late Browns TD's made it closer, but the visitors were behind the 8-ball after a 24-0 first half.

The Bears got out to the quickest possible start with Devin Hester returning the opening kickoff 95 yds for a TD. The last 10yds were a struggle, but the little speedster showed admirable tenaciousness fighting for the TD.

(Edit: Check out the hiccups in the animation here. This is what Brando was talking about in the Impressions thread.)

<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>

On their very next possession Matt Forte was virtually untouched on a 54-yd screen play for a TD.

A pick by Peanut Tillman, who did an admirable job of shutting down Braylon Edwards in the first half, Jay Cutler fired his second TD pass of the game to Hester.

<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>

Another pick right before halftime set up a Robbie Gould FG as time ticked off. The Browns fought back tenaciously after the break. A long and efficient drive was capped off by a sweet play action strike from Quinn to Edwards. The TD was followed by a successful 2-pt conversion.

<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>

Any hopes at a comeback were dashed as Brian Urlacher picked off Quinn and returned the INT 80-yds for a TD. The Browns kept on chucking but the Bears sealed the win with a beauty of a run from Matt Forte. Two sublime moves in this 39-yd run.

<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>

Cutler finished the game 10/14 for 185yds 2TD and 1INT. Forte, the games MVP had 13 attempts for 95yds and 2 rushing scores as well as 2 catches for 75yds and TD.

In a losing effort Brady Quinn was 20/32 for 253yds 2TD and 3INTs. Braylon Edwards ended the game with 74 receiving yds and 2TDs.

Great game, Nozzleman. Nothing worse than being two scores down after the first two drives. Would've been a different story if Lewis had played. Good luck.

PS Bears host the suddenly leaderless Cardinals next week. Excellent timing, Terry. :)

Mac? .....Mac? 8)

***EDIT***

Guilty of the ridiculous "not seeing PM infraction". Yellow card.

Mac sent me a PM at 11PM last night. Didn't see it until just now. He can't play until after 11PM PT all weekend, so not sure if he'll play me that late this weekend or leave the franchise and come back at this point.

The Texans drop a defensive struggle against the CPU Bills at Buffalo, 13-7. Bills quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, starting in place of injured quarterback Trent Edwards, was razor sharp, going 14 of 18 for 129 yards by working short routes underneath the Houston coverage. He led the Bills down the field in the second quarter before connecting with receiver Lee Evans for a 7-yard score and a 7-0 lead. He later set up Ryan Lindell for a 39-yard field goal in the waning seconds of the first half.

The real star of the game was the Bills defense, however, which shut down the Texans offense for three quarters and knocked quarterback Matt Schaub out of the game. Key drops by Houston receivers Kevin Walter and Andre Johnson, coupled with two missed field goal attempts by Kris Brown and a fourth quarter fumble by Jacoby Jones, stalled Houston's scoring attempts and resulted in a 13-0 hole after three quarters. Finally, backup quarterback Rex Grossman got the Texans going, moving them 58 yards in just over a minute and hitting Johnson on a perfect 34-yard TD strike to make the game 13-7.

The Texans failed to recover the onside kick, but they stopped the Bills and the clock with two timeouts. Facing fourth and 5 with 47 seconds left, the Bills lined up to punt while the Texans put ten men on the line, hoping for a block or at least one last chance to drive the field. But the bills would not give them a chance:

<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>

The Bills instead ran a fake punt, snapping to upback Corey McIntyre, catching the Texans completely offguard and sealing the win for Buffalo.

Too tired for a recap but the Broncos defeat the Ravens 14-7 in a game decided on a play right out of the movie Invincible.

Eagles 31 Giants 13

Post by eman »

Turnovers Shrink Giants in Philly

The highly anticipated NFC East showdown between the 6-0 Eagles (eman/mmeh97) and 5-2 Giants (GameSe7en) got off to a rocky start for the Giants Sunday. On the first possession of the game Eli Manning faced a 3rd down deep in his own territory. Manning threw a costly interception, the first of 4 on the day, and the aggressive Eagles never looked back as they stormed to a 31-0 halftime lead. "We were surprised," commented Asante Samuel after the game. For the second straight week the Philly corner returned an INT for a TD. "Last week it was Jason Campbell, and you kind of expect that (sorry Zep). But Eli is a SB Champion and they usually pound you with the running game." League leading rusher Brandon Jacobs was held in check all day finishing with 30 yards, 21 of which came on one play.

There were signs of tension from these two teams from the begining. Early in the offseason the Eagles had talked to Edgerin James about backing up Brian Westbrook. "We made a good faith offer to Mr. James and thought we had a deal", said new Eagles owner mmeh97. A few days later the 31 year old RB ending up signing with the Giants leaving the Eagles in the cold. "It's history and we've moved past it - I wish James and the Giants all the best this year".

Notables: Donovan McNabb finished the game 12-12 with 2 TD's. K. Kolb got his first action of the year in the fourth quarter in relief of McNabb.

My plan is to see what my service options are today. If I'm out of warranty (which I most certainly am) I'll probably either buy an arcade unit or see how much the local mom and pop that claims to do repairs charges. Either way I might be back in action by tomorrow. If not I'll definitely leave the franchise until resolved.

That about summed it up. Two measuring stick games against undefeated teams in a row was too much. I lucked out in edging Terry, but couldn't get anything going against your Eagles last night.

Good game. Hopefully I have an answer for our rematch.

The Oakland Raiders were dominated last week by the New York Jets, 42-19. This led to a coaching change, as TCrouch comes back to the Bay Area from a brief stay in Arizona, hoping to turn around the Raiders' fortunes. Crouch desperately wanted a team that could run the ball, and the Cardinals certainly weren't that.

The early results were encouraging, to say the least.

Oakland put up 290 rushing yards against the San Diego Chargers in their rematch, with Darren McFadden carrying 23 times for 278 yards and 3 touchdowns against the Bolts in a 42-21 Raiders victory.

Early on, it looked like it would be a runaway for the Chargers, as Philip Rivers was flawless. The Chargers took the opening drive the length of the field in 6 plays for a quick 7-0 lead, and then the Raiders were forced to punt on the Chargers' 40 on their first possession.

Again Rivers was impeccable, directing another scoring drive for a quick 14-0 lead in the first quarter.

At that point, the Raiders decided to actually play ball. McFadden broke loose on a 78 yard run that gave the Raiders life, and Kirk Morrison snagged a Rivers interception in the flat and raced 34 yards for the tying score.

The Chargers weren't done yet, marching for another touchdown to make it 21-14 in the 2nd quarter.

After that, the Raiders never looked back. They were able to run the ball at will and got timely passes from JaMarcus Russell, who was efficent (9 completions on 13 attempts for 112 yards, 1 TD, and a 121.3 rating). Rivers was marvelous in the game, despite the pick, going 18-for-24 for 294 yards, 3 TD's, and the 1 interception with a 137.9 rating.

The Oakland running game slowly wore down the Chargers and controlled the clock as the game wore on, highlighted by this run to seal the game at 42-21 in the 4th quarter:

<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>

Oakland (4-4) gets back to .500 with the win, and have a bye week before facing the Chiefs in week 10.

San Diego (3-4) drops a game below .500 and travel to the Meadowlands to take on the Giants in week 9.

Jaguars get one step closer to the Titans. . .

Post by tmdba37 »

In an AFC South Slugfest, the Jaguars travel to Nashville and stun the Division Leading Titans 31-24. . .

Tied 10-10 in the 3rd Quarter, the Jaguars benefit from Alge Crumpler's bad sense of direction as the poor old and apparently forgetful TE caught a pass in the flat and ran backwards 10 yards and preceeded to fumble the ball. . .the Jags pick up the present and run it in for the go ahead TD. . .

Add in a INT Return for a TD and a 44 Yard scamper by Maurice Jones-Drew, the Titans were quickly looking up at a 21 point deficit. . .

The Titans fought back and scored two late TDs. . .one set up by a 65 Yard Return of a Missed FG attempt. . .but they failed to recover their final onside kick and the Jags took a couple of knees to end the battle. . .

The Jaguars, now back in the division race, travel home to host the hapless Chiefs and the Titans try to rebound against the equally hapless 49ers. . .

Once again, Jared proved to be just a smidge better than me, as the Phins beat the Jets, 21-14 in a wet, occasionally head-scratching contest. Hopefully he got some highlights...

The Dolphins defeated the Jets 21-14 in an important AFC East encounter. The weather, with the game played in a heavy downpour, made for a sloppy game as both teams were plagued by inaccurate passes and open drops. Miami started the game well, but couldn't score any touchdowns and went out to an early 6-0 lead from a 33-yard and 30-yard field goal. However, near the end of the first half, Thomas Jones got open for an easy 27-yard touchdown run to take the lead. On the first drive of the second half, Miami regained the lead on this pass from Pennington to Camarillo.

<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>

After the two-point conversion, Miami took a 14-7 lead. Miami then extended their lead on a 20-yard touchdown run by Ronnie Brown. In the fourth quarter, the Jets trimmed the lead to a touchdown on Jones' second touchdown of the game.

<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>

Miami tried to run out the clock, but a holding penalty led to a Miami punt with two minutes left in the contest. The Jets were facing a crucial third down, when Thomas Jones caught this deflected pass to extend the drive.

<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>

On 2nd down, the Jets' Washington dropped this crucial pass.

<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>

After a third down sack, the Jets ran one final play on fourth down.

<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>

There was no touchdown, as Miami was called for a block in the back on Sanchez. Sanchez ended the game 8-21 with 110 yard passing, no TDs and 2 INTs. Pennington was 12-20 with 152 yard passing, 1 TD and 1 INT. Ronnie Brown led all rushers with 13 carries for 77 yards and a touchdown. Miami improves to 7-0, while the Jets fall to 6-2.
