Well unfortunately I have to work late Monday and Tuesday, but I might be able to play around 10 central on Tuesday night. Would that work for you?XXXIV wrote:Bad Im good after 7 central every night to start the week . Name the day and time you would like your Colts to play me Rams.

It's pointless for you to do that, the sim advanced is Sunday nights at midnight you should know the schedule by now, I only held it up to see if you would show. I'll advanced it in the morning for everyone else.macsomjrr wrote: Danimal I'm stuck here at work for at least another hour or so. I didn't realize you couldn't kick me and then just play out your game if I wasn't around. Really sorry about that. I'll jump out of the league as soon as I get home tonight (probably around 11pm PST) and then rejoin whenever you move over to the next week.

The Houston Texans hope a 20-13 win against the Bengals will get them back on track. Andre Johnson shredded the Bengals secondary in the first half, hauling in five catches for 158 yards, including touchdowns of 59 and 71 yards. His performance helped the Texans build a 20-3 halftime lead.

Andre Johnson beats the one-on-one coverage for a 71-yard TD.
The Bengals defense tightened in the second half, though, and Carson Palmer heaved a deep pass to Chris Henry for a 69-yard touchdown, making the game 20-10. A Bengals field goal made it a one-score game in the fourth quarter, but Texans safety Eugene Wilson picked off Palmer on the Bengals final drive to seal the game.

(5-0) Cardinals @ (4-2) Giants.
GameSe7en...when do you want to put the first loss on my record in this league? I'm good any time after 4PM most nights, but I'd like to watch the MNF game if possible.
And Zep, I'd be all for power rankings, but I really can't stand the whole "entire league in one thread" thing. In the OS league and my "Bottom 8" franchise, we have individual threads for each week so I can scan through and find how a team has performed in their recaps. I can scan through the OF website, but that thing is a nightmare in itself. Everything just gets so muddled together I can barely keep up with what's going on from week to week. I understand the board's general policy to keep things in one thread, but I hate 20+ page threads. I can't stand checking back 7 pages to see what happened in a game's recap, etc. So I'll see what I can do for a mid-season one, but it's really tough to "get up" for this one for some reason for me. Games are so damn short, and the entire league goings-on in a single convoluted thread get to me.

That's fine, Terry. You has mentioned it a long while ago so I thought I'd bring it up. I'm sorry to hear so many guys are not enjoying the league, though. Maybe we should try something different for season two?TCrouch wrote:Yeah I don't expect it to change. Just letting Zep know why I'm not already doing the rankings. I don't think there's an answer to please everybody.
Some guys want the game done within an hour.
Some guys want to have the game feel "real" and have a lengthy 60 or 75 minute affair to really set up their plays (I'm in this group).
Some want no clock run off to allow audibles and motion.
Some guys want a runoff to avoid exploitation of AI defenders who don't quite adjust properly.
In the end, no matter what you do, somebody's going to be disappointed. So you just stick with what you started with and either they'll stay or they'll go. Personally I can't see sticking around past the first season, but that's just me. You may lose 5 or 6 guys if stuff changes, so there's no easy answer.

If people want to have separate week league report threads, that's fine with me. Though I won't be sticky-ing them.
As for game length, I'm all for longer games (maybe another minute or two per quarter). In my game against Slumberland, I had a 9:30 drive to start the second half, which basically ended the game for him because I ate up so much time. But I'll play regardless of game length.

Are a lot of people not happy with the league? I can tell you running it is not an issue, I just get a lot of emails from people about trying to contact opponents to play. I see a lot of the same people initiating contact and others not doing it at all. But it's impossible to judge that because some of the contact happens via XBL. That's the only thing not fun for me.Zeppo wrote:That's fine, Terry. You has mentioned it a long while ago so I thought I'd bring it up. I know it sucks to have a game simmed and I pray no one wins their division by not playing half their games and winning by sim but such is the nature of so many human owners while trying to play 2 games a week.
It's probably a good idea for people to really look at this league and gauge their interest. It's not a single season league, it's a franchise and if you don't have the time that's fine it's an aggressive schedule and we all have real lives. But if you're not enjoying it or don't have time I'd rather have a cpu controlled team then a human owner who can't play. Maybe i am alone in that feeling.
I'm not singling anyone out, but we're on week 7 and you should have an idea of the schedule, time involved and if you're interested. Bluntly put if firing up Madden to get in your franchise game feels like work, then you probably don't want to play.
Having said all that and sounding all gloomy, I am impressed that almost all the games get played every week, but if a lot of people are unhappy as Zep stated then don't hang in their to be a trooper, it's just a game.

Exclusively game length for me. I feel so rushed in an 8 minute quarter game. As you could tell from my game with the Colts, I really try to play it close to the vest and then eventually wear the opponent down. The Colts owner does the same thing, and we combined for a 6-0 score.
A guy like Jared who goes on a 9 minute drive kills a game. It could happen with another length as well, but over a full quarter will kill you every time. It's also extremely realistic (especially with the Dolphins and Pennington's arm), and that's what makes those types of offenses so much fun to play against.
So for me, it just boils down to not having enough time to really "feel out" a game, and then attacking what you see. It's pretty much a feel out period for a drive or two and then force it to try and get quick scores. This leads to more turnovers and bad decisions on anybody's part.
But I fully understand that not everybody here wants to play a game that takes an hour to finish. I have no problem at all, as both of my other franchises use 12 minutes and 20 second runoff--we even played a few weeks at 15/25.
So I'm not going to ask the league to change its rules. Like other people have said, either you're in it and get excited for it, or you're not. I like it and I have a great time with Madden, but the 8 minute games just feel like a rushed miniature game to me and not a "full" game.
Certainly nothing you could do "better", you do fine, man. These things take a lot to run, especially with so many human owners and potential for people getting hosed due to scheduling issues, etc. Don't change a thing that you do. Nobody could ask more from you.
Then again, I may just jump ship to the Raiders since they're not taken and be more "into it" because I'm my team...

I'm having a lot of fun. Even the CPU games have been enjoyable because of the context of the league. All of my opponents have been gracious and good sports. I think for a first run through a franchise we're doing well, with lots of games getting played.
I definitely would be up for an increase to at least 10 minutes. So far, the human players tend to take more time to make adjustments, with many snaps coming with five seconds or fewer on the play clock. I think we could go to 10 minutes without the games getting that much longer, and even 12 with the accelerated clock would be manageable for me.

Lets just be clear we're not switching game length mid-season. I would consider upping it to 10-12 minutes for the playoffs and then next season. I also might extend the schedule during the playoffs so we can do something cool but we'll see.
I'm glad most our enjoying the league I got scared their for a bit, the commish tools are very limiting and we're making due. Personally I hated having to sim my game against the Chargers when it had earil season division implications. I hate that I played a game that didn't take that needed to be simmed the week before.

If there are any games v CPU, then we have to have accelerated clock. I've become accustomed to it by this stage, and actuall like it. I think :20 might even be better so that the CPU games are more even in terms of plays.
I wouldn't mind upping the length, but I don't know if it makes sense to change up for the playoffs. I'm open to the idea, I'm just not sure I agree.
I didn't mean to imply that A majority of people were unhappy, but I know Terry isn't the only one who is frustrated with the short games. I don't know that I could play a linger game in only an hour, not with doing the recap here and dealing with replays and all that, all of which is a very important part of this thing for me.
I've also been very impressed with the participation. As for myself, while I obviously love the franchise, I don't beleive I could do games tha areuch longer because of my volatile work schedule. I may not be able to get my game this week in, for example, first becaue I haven't heard from eman about it, and I may have barely 8 and a half to nine hours at home total at night these next few days. That will continue into the forseeable future as well the shorter games help me. Ten minutes would be fine, but past that, I don't know.

I have no problem with the "short" clock we're using, but won't freak out if we bump it up either.

Just my two cents, I don't have a problem with longer quarters, I play my offline franchise on 12 min quarters. I'm really enjoying the league as well, outside of the fact that my only loss came during a simmed game
, but what can you do, these are the tools EA gave us.
