Matt Forte performed heroically in carrying the Bears to a narrow 31-24 victory on the road against the Seahawks.

An uneventful first half saw the hosts go up 3-0 on a 50yd O. Mare FG. That looked like it would be all of the scoring until Jay Cutler found his rhythm and conducted a masterful 2-minute drill...only to throw it all away by throwing an INT that was returned 90+ yds for a TD. Instead of going into the break up 7-3, the Bears faced a daunting 10 point deficit on the road.

The 3rd quarter started out like more of the same relatively tame football, with little hint of the chaos that would follow. Nobody scored until the Bears finally scratched out a FG with 3:00 left in the quarter. Seattle answered immediately, with the hertofore ineffective Julius Jones busting lose for a 45 yd TD run.

With 2:00 and change left in the 3rd, the Bears were down 17-3...

(cue NFL Films music)

And then came Hester. Demonstrating his patented combination of elusiveness and speed, Hester returned the ensuing kickoff 97 yds for his 3rd kick return TD of the season.

After a 3-and-out by the home team, Matt Forte opened what would become a legendary 4th quarter by busting around Orlando Pace for a huge 72-yd TD run. Only one man had a chance at him, but no single tackler was bringing down the big fella from Tulane on this day.

Seattle wouldn't go down without a fight, however. On the next drive Matt Hasselbeck miraculously unloaded a ball with Adewale Ogunleye draped all over him and found Nate Burleson for a 64-yd bomb.

But Forte would not be denied. A Bears drive that nearly chewed up far too much clock was capped off by Forte's second TD of the day, drawing the Bears even with 1:41. The Bears D stood tall, sacking Hasselbeck on a critical 3rd down and forcing a punt.

Cutler took over with :30 remaining on his own 20. On the first play from scrimmage the Seahawks gambled with a heavy blitz. The only option available was a swing pass to Forte, who slipped out of the hands of one defender and blasted down the sideline for the 78-yd game winning touchdown!
---

Crazy game, obviously. Pretty sure that I woke the house when Forte busted loose. Forte ended up with 119yds rushing and 113yds receiving. He did everything but pack up the equipment truck. :)

Sadly no good highlights because so many of the scores were so long that the replays were truncated LOL

Who has the Patriots? I will rejoin the league when I get home from work tonight and can play tonight, Friday night, or Saturday night any time after 10:30 pm central time. Do any of those days work for you?

I got my game in last night and the Vikings had a tougher time than expected at home against the 49ers. Minnesota dominated the time of possession, but San Francisco scored on an 80-yard pass to Michael Crabtree and a 60-70-yard run by Frank Gore.

The Vikings were able to move the ball through the air as the 49ers were selling out to stop the run. Favre ended up with a little over 200 yards passing. Adrian Peterson scored two touchdowns but only rushed for about 3 yards per carry. Ryan Longwell continued his hot start with a few field goals.

The Vikings are looking forward to facing the Packers this week. Is blub in or am I playing the CPU for this one? I checked last night and he wasn't listed, so I'm assuming it's an AI game, but I wanted to check.
The sing-along songs'll be our scriptures.

good game.…I knew the tone was set on the opening drive of the game after I had 3 possible INT's go straight thru my defenders hands. Meanwhile your guys had a pick fest. Every one of drives ended with an INT or a fumble…not good.

The Browns host the Bengals (CPU) for an in state and division rivalry. Both teams came in at 1-2 on the young season.

The Browns chose to defer and gave Carson Palmer and the Bengals the first shot at the ball. This proved to be a great call to start the game as on the 2nd play from scrimmage Palmer was picked Eric Wright who took it 37yds to the house. This set the tone for the entire game (replay got cutoff again) The Bengals answered with a field goal on their ensuing possession and their defense looked strong against the struggling Browns offense. The first quarter ended at 7-3.

In the second and third quarters the Browns D stepped up and shut the Bengal offense down not allowing them to score and gaining 2 more picks. The Cleveland offense managed a 65 yd drive capped by a Lawerence Vickers TD catch in the 2nd and later tagged on a 34yd FG by Phil Dawson.

In the fourth the Browns exploded for 21pts including this 46yd scamper by Jamal Lewis

<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>

The Bengals did manage to rally two touchdowns on long passes with blown coverage, but at this time the game was well out of reach. Mike Adams got a pick 6 with 19 seconds left to seal the deal and gave Palmer his 4th INT of the game.

The final..............Cleveland 38 Cincy 17

The Browns move to 2-2 and into second place behind the undefeated Ravens while Cincy falls to the cellar at 1-3

Jets over the Saints, 38-15, in a game that saw the Jets seasonal clean sheet ended right off the bat with a 56-yard fumble return by Prioleau on the Jets opening drive. Both Sanchez (12 for 16, 188 yards, 2 TD's) and Jones (117 yards on 18 carries, 1 TD) had big days, and a comfortable fourth quarter lead enabled Kellen Clemens and Shonn Greene to get some reps, including Greene's first TD.

Prioleau's return:

Sanchez FINALLY connects with Harrison:

Dolphins defeat the CPU Bills 14-3.

In a sloppy game, the Dolphins led by two touchdowns by Ricky Williams, defeated the Bills 14-3. The pivotal moment in the game was in the beginning of the fourth quarter. With the Dolphins up 7-3, the Bills decided to go for it on fourth and 5 on the Miami 13. The pass was deflected at the line, and Miami took over on downs. They then proceeded to drive 87 yards for the TD, key plays being a 23 yard pass to Anthony Fasano on 3rd and long, and a 30-yard touchdown run by Ricky Williams.

The Dolphins go into their important week 5 matchup with the Jets undefeated, while the Bills drop to 2-2.

Giants extend Chiefs winless streak in Kansas City...

In a bizarre game that would see Eli Manning complete only 3 of 11 passes while tossing 1 TD and 2 INT, the Giants defeat the Chiefs 20-7. In a tightly contested first half, the Giants would finally score the first touchdown after winning the field position battle by twice throwing long picks within the Chiefs 10 yard line and stalling the Chiefs offense.

Meanhile, Matt Cassel continued his best Brett Favre impersonation by slinging the ball nearly 40 times on the day. He would connect for over 200 yards and score the Chiefs only touchdown late in the game on a goal line keeper. Sadly for Chiefs fans, he would also throw 3 interceptions in the contest. Other drives stalled on missed FGs from 40+.

The Giants defense forced 3 fumbles in the game and, infuriatingly, there were 3 Fight for the Fumble events that all went against Big Blue. I think this has solidified my distaste for this feature.

Aaron Ross would return an interception for a touchdown early in the second half which began the distancing of the Giants lead.

The game also featured a red zone attempt by the G-men that saw consecutive Delay of Game penalties assessed as Eli would inexplicably not hike the ball after motion (which would seem to have ended with 3-4 seconds to spare). The Giants would settle for one of their two second half field goals on the drive.

All in all, between the missed FGs, turnovers and an illegal onside attempt late, Giants kick returners would touch only the first kickoff of the game and one punt.

The only constant with earlier weeks was Brandon Jacobs who would again see heavy use as the Giants spent the second half trying to chew up the clock.

No highlights as the league has decided to burn all tapes of the game...

Giants go home to face the Raiders this week while winless Kansas City hosts the Cowboys.

The Rams went out to San Fransisco and WR Donnie Avery went dancing in the rain in a 23-13 victory on soggy turf.

The game didnt start out very well as first blood was drawn by the Niners on this 67 yd play from Hill to Davis ....

<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>

The Rams got what appeared to be the tying TD before the first half ended on an 83 yd pass from Bulger to Avery but the xp was blocked.(NO HIGHLIGHT! why? Idk)

Undeterred by what long time Rams fans would call "more of the same f***in bullshit" Bulger went back to Avery on this sweet 74 yd play to open half number two.

After the Rams added a fg they sealed the deal with this pick six courtesy of Atogwe...

Week 4 - Baltimore Ravens (Scoop Brady) at New England Patriots (grtwhtsk)

The Ravens won the toss and elected to kick. The Patriots were forced to punt and the Ravens went on a 6+ minute drive that ended in a field goal. The score at the end of the 1st quarter was Ravens 3-0 over the Patriots.

The second quarter started with the Patriots getting the ball and throwing an interception. The Ravens could not capitalize on the field position and had to settle for another field goal. The score remained 6-0 until the Ravens offense finally found the endzone on this 26-yard pass from Joe Flacco to Willis McGahee.

<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>

With the score 13-0 and just under 3 minutes to go until halftime things came undone for the Patriots. First came this fumble return for a touchdown to make it 20-0.

<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>

A few seconds later came an interception return for a touchdown to make it 27-0 at the half with a big 24-spot posted by the Ravens in the 2nd quarter. The game was much more closely contested than the score would indicate as the Patriots run defense was in top form and frustrating the hell out of Coach Brady and the Ravens.

The Ravens got the ball to start the second half and the Patriots defense held tight and forced a punt. The Patriots offense found their rhythm and marched down the field capped by this 26-yard TD pass from Tom Brady to Ben Watson.

<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>

The Patriots defense stiffened up yet again and forced a 3-and-out to get the ball around midfield. The Patriots started driving the field and entered the red zone just as the third quarter ended. Faced with a 4th-and-6 the Ravens had no choice but to go for it since a field goal would keep it a 3 score game. The ball bounced off of Maroney's hands. The Ravens tried to take some time off of the clock with the running game but yet again the Patriots defense stymied them and forced another punt. Unfortunately for the Patriots the punt returner fumbled the ball and the Ravens recovered in what can only be described as a generous use of the fight for the fumble button mashing mini game. With just 4 minutes to go the Ravens tried yet again to run the ball and take some time off of the clock and finally were able to get a couple of first downs with the running game before kicking a field goal making the score 30-7 with a minute left to play.

The key to this game was turnovers and the Patriots were on the losing side of that battle 5-0. Yardage was pretty much equal but you take away the 2 defensive touchdowns and the score is 16-7. You take away the the need to go for it on 4th-and-6 and the score is 16-10. Turnovers were the difference and the Ravens are glad to come out of New England 4-0 and look forward to their next game.
