Sorry Jared, I posted in the sign up thread that I would be using my Cowboys59 account. I pretty much turned my Badgun 360 over to my kids.

I could play tonight so if you see me online send me an invite. I have to work Saturday but could play Saturday night. Just let me know what works best for you.

Thanks
Tonight is fine for me. PM me with a time and I'll be there.

(And sorry for missing the 1st person to say cowboys59 = badgun. I'm dense.)

Well he's really mad at me for taking the Skins, so it's all good. I'm surprised he stayed in the division, though, as I pretty much can stand any of those other teams (actually when I think about it, I think I'd have to take an AFC team if I couldn't have the Skins).

But clearly it was so that he can punish me. :D

No one hates the NFC east as much as I do.

If we play in the NFC title game I'd probably throw the game so the Skins can represent in the Superbowl. ;) In all seriousness, as much as it pains me that I'm not using the skins in this league, I couldn't pick a better guy to represent my favorites franchise.

Let's make the NFC East feared, ok?

Absolutely crazy, yet fitting, way to end this game. The Skins get lucky, bailed out by their D thanks to two key take-aways.

St. Louis take their 'Old LA Uniform Nostalgia Tour' (hey, isn't that Warren Beatty?) back home to the dome to host the as-yet rudderless Packers.

1)It wasnt luck. You took that ball away and with it the game. I was thinking FG = OT or TD wins it and I got nothing!

2)Im not sure how many games of video football we have played over the years ( Probably 30-40) but I am pretty sure that was the best one.

3)I do appreciate good football highlights. That wasnt that good though

4)It was good to see newly aquired Ike Hilliard make an immediate contribution :P

5) The uniforms are beautiful :D ...besides, they are the colors worn in 99.

Titans Defense Goes on the Offensive as Tennessee Defeats Houston

NASHVILLE - 103 yards is a long way to go for six points, but Tennessee Titans safety Nick Harper will take it.

Harper picked off a Matt Schaub pass inside the endzone and streaked to the other side of the field, giving the Titans a 14-7 lead en route to a 31-21 lead over the visiting Houston Texans.

<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>
Harper on his way to the house.

On the ensuing drive, Courtland Finnegan picked off a Schaub pass to the flat and streaked for a 41-yard touchdown. The Tennessee defense would go on to intercept the Houston quarterback four times, with Harper adding another interception in the second half.

Things started well for the Texans when Schaub connected with running back Steve Slaton for an 89-yard touchdown pass. The elusive Slaton juked a defender before heading for daylight and a 7-0 lead.

Tennessee's Chris Johnson answered on the following possession, running untouched for 54-yards and a score. After the defensive interceptions, Schaub led the Texans down the field for a late score to make it 21-14 at the half.

The teams traded touchdowns in the third quarter and early fourth, with Johnson scoring his second touchdown on a 12-yard pass from Kerry Collins. But after Schaub drove down the field and set up a one-yard touchdown run from fullback Vontae Leach, Collins and Vince Young responded with a long, time-killing drive that set-up a Rob Bironas FG and gave the Titans a safe 10-point lead.

The Tennessee quarterbacks finished a combined 11-13 for 116 yards and one TD, while Chris Johnson had 141 combined yard rushing and receiving. Despite 319 yards passing from Schaub and 186 total yards from Slaton, the Texans could not overcome their turnovers.

The Titans travel to New York to face the Jets next week, while the Texans hope to get their first win at home against the Jaguars.

Brando,

Thanks for the excellent write-up on our match-up. . .I'm looking forward to our return tilt in week 11.

BTW. I am still really impressed wuth the way you stuck in there after the back to back INT Returns for TDs. . .I think I would have been a panicked wreck after that. . .

It's a shame that the start of the Harper INT was cut off, the best part of the play was his "shake and bake" at the 5 to break it into the open field. . .

Overall, good game, I predict lots of excitement coming from the AFC South this season. . .

The Broncos lost a heart breaker to the Browns 17-14 today. Denever opened up the scoring when Orton side step a LB and hit a WR in the back of the end zone.

Cleveland then answered after an Orton pick deep in his own territory and we went into half 7-7. After quite a few back and forth possession the Broncos went to the shot gun and marched 75 yards in 15 plays eating up a considerable amount of clock. Orton hit Royals again in the back of the end zone with another brilliant catch. (Neither of which you can see thanks to the replay bug)

Denver was feeling pretty good but the Browns answered on 1 play hitting Lewis as he scampered for 75 yards shacking off several tackles.

Orton then proceeded to move the team down the field again but he tried to thread one in the middle again and was picked. From there the Browns marched down the field and positioned themselves for a game winning chip shot field goal with 1 second left on the clock.

It was a good game, Rogers is a beast for the Browns and Orton's 2 more picks might see him take to the bench if things don't change fast.

Just a reminder we flip tomorrow night at midnight.

Also keep in mind I am paying attention to who is going out of their way to set up games and what not. I've gotten a few emails about people trying to contact others multiple times.

Please do your best to respond or let people know if your not around.

Scoop I sent you a message on XBL yesterday. I work Thurs thru Sun at the hospital very long hours (usually 9am til 10 or 11pm sometimes later). I'm bascially dead to the world until Mon, Tues and Wed when I'm usually free all day. I explained this in one of the franchise threads earlier and suggested that we adjust the "schedule" but I guess that message got lost in the mix. If this is going to derail the DSP franschise experience then I'll drop out as needed.

Let me know what you'd like me to do Danimal.

Mark, thanks for getting back to me so we could play our game last night. I thought for sure I would lose when you rolled off 21 unanswered points. Kudos to you for the half time adjustments - I couldnt do anything with the ball in the second half.

Quick recap for those scoring at home - Eagles opened the game with two scoring drives. On Saints 3rd possession they were backed up inside their 10 yard line when a Drew Brees screen pass was intercepted and returned for a TD. Trailing 21-0, the Saints Marcus Colston caught a huge TD pass just before halftime. To open the second half, Reggie Bush returned a kickoff 100 yards. The teams then traded punts until the Saints scored on another Colston TD. Late in the 4th quarter Eagles offense finally mounted another scoring drive to claim a 28-21 lead. On the Saints following drive, they failed to convert a 4th down in Eagles territory.

Andy Reid was very happy with his teams efforts in the ground game. "Tonight we ran the football and controlled the clock - we're trying to look more like the Joe Gibbs led Redskins with our motion packages and counter plays". It proved effective early on, Brian Westbrook's 92 yards led all rushers.

"The Saints are a good football team, they'll get it together" Reid commented. "They have great special teams and coaching, in this league those two qualities are sometimes over looked."

One thing that's nice about this system is that people can leave the franchise and then come back later. It's probably too late for this week's game, but in the future if you have a human opponent and can't play the game, you could leave the franchise, let that week's game be played vs the CPU by your opponent rather than a completely simmed game, and then rejoin for the next week's game.

Just make sure to let everyone know what is going on if you do that, especially the commish and your opponent.

It does seem that if someone is kicked, they can never get back in (I'm a little miffed about the Blublub situation myself). I hope EA see the light and patch that so that kicked players can get back in with an invite from the commish, but somehow I doubt it's a priority for them. If they could, then it would be even easier for us to deal with this kind of situation, but since the kick seems to be 'for life' it makes it much harder for the commish to control these kinds of issues.

The one thing I'd say to Scoop is that yes, I know it sucks royally to have to sim one of the games you were ready and able to play, but try to take the long view. The goal of this franchise is for us to keep on playing through multiple seasons, so missing out on a game or two will seem like a lot less of a big deal a season or two down the road.

Great game eman - good recap.
Eagles dominated the entire first half.
It was good to finally get the Brees-Colston connection going.
Bush scores another KR TD - 3 in first 2 games.

2 key 4th down stops by the eagles in the 2nd half prevented the Saints from taking the lead.

Eagles are a very tough team - especially with Westbrook who made a surprise return to the game after a first half injury.

Good luck

How would I adjusted the schedule if you can't play Thurs - Sunday? You're right I did miss the message but this was always going to be a 2 game a week league. Having said that there is no reason to leave.

I would ask that you do what Zep suggest and you temp. leave the league on Thursday morning and rejoin on Mondays so your opponent can play against the AI.

For this week I am willing to extended my advancing the week until Monday at 10am so you could do this and Scoop could play his game. You guys just need to let me know what the plan is.

I think Mac had suggested turning over on Monday nights instead of Sunday nights, and then I guess Thursday nights instead of Wednesday nights.

But I'm not sure that wouldn't end up being just as problematic for someone else as the Wed/Sun schedule is for Mac.

But in any case, the ability to leave and come back in at will should help us going forward. Trying to take the long view. . . .

Danimal posted a little recap from the Browns @ Broncos game from last night, but thought I would chip in as well.

The Browns coming off a 26-0 Shellacking from the Vikes (Badger) in week one were just looking for something positive to come out of Denver. Denver took the opening kickoff and marched down the field and connected on 6yd TD pass. It was a beautiful play as Orton made a nice sidestep, threw one up to the back of the endzone and the receiver made a brilliant catch and got both feet in. No replay to upload :( More on that later.

The rest of the first half saw a back and forth defensive battle, but Cleveland caught a break late in the 2nd as Orton trying to get the snap off made a quick errant throw that was picked. Taking possession with great field position Quinn took the offense to the field with great confidence. After a quick first down, Quinn dropped in a beautiful pass on a post corner route to Brian Robiskie for an over the shoulder catch and an 18yd strike. This was the only catch for Robiskie of the game but it was his best of the year. The Broncos were content to run the clock out and take things to the locker room knotted at 7.

The second half saw more of the same back and forth defensive battle then Danimal went to a shotgun formation and took the 3-4 D of the Browns by surprise. Trying many different defensive looks, the Broncos continued to confuse the D and marched down the field. In similar fashion to the first TD, Orton threw one up to the back of the endzone and the receiver again made a brilliant catch. The PAT made it 14-7.

On the start of the ensuing drive, Jamal Lewis snuck out of the backfield and Quinn found his checkdown. Lewis made a move to the outside and turned it up field. The safety hot on his heels went for the strip instead of making the tackle and Jamal broke through it and the CB's attempt at a tackle and he scampered 75yds for the TD.

With plenty of time left on the clock the Cleveland D knew they needed to make a play and the did just that. After allowing the Broncos to move the ball to near midfield, they picked Orton for the second time. Two first downs was all Quinn needed to get Dawson in FG range, but the Broncos seemed to quit and allowed Quinn and Lewis to move the ball inside the 5yd line. With 4 seconds left Dawson put the chip shot through, leaving one second for the kick cover team to make a stop. Dawson squibbed the kickoff and cover team did their job. The Browns win 17-14 in dramatic fashion on the road. This was a great confidence builder for the young team and inexperienced owner.

No videos to upload b/c the system is broke. Any pass that is caught in the end zone doesn't work. The replay stops as soon as the ball reaches the goal line. There were at least 3 great passing plays to upload and none worked. All 3 were GREAT catches in the back of the endzone. I hope the can fix this, it really spoils things for me!

Danimal.......GREAT GAME!! That was a lot of fun and a great battle. I would have been OKAY with a loss there, but I will take the win :)

Those really were three of the most beautiful and realistic looking TD catches I have seen in this game too bad we can't share them.

I'm definitely regretting taking a 3-4 team as I'm a 4-3 player and I'm just not in the groove with this kind of defense.

Hey it's your team, you can mold them into what you like! You still have some FA points left, and then there's always the possibility of trades . . . . :)

Should we have a house rule for a hold on a FG or XP attempt? This came up during my game with Todd (Tennessee). He got flagged for holding and I took the call out of habit, but thinking about it afterward, I realized this is a bug and maybe we should adjust? Or just let it go? Maybe a rule of not being able to take two in a row?

I'd be happy with a 'can't take two in a row' house rule, but I'm not sure it's necessary to eliminate all the holding calls on kicks and PATs with a house rule saying 'no one is allowed to accept any of them.' I mean, I agree it happens too often, but there are quite a few things that happen in this game a bit too often, if you know what I mean. It hasn't ruined the game for me personally at all, but then again I haven't had it come up more than once or twice in any game yet.

Dolphins defeat the Colts 28-0.

In a game that featured two interception returns for touchdowns by the Dolphins, the Fins used defense and ball control for a 28-0 victory. The Dolphins relied on a quick passing game to negate Indianapolis' blitz-heavy defense. Ricky Williams had two running touchdowns, and Chad Pennington went 14-17 with 132 yards passing.
