WHOA. I think there has only been one or two years in Favre's career that he's been a top 5 qb...and it certainly isn't happening from this point forward. I'd bet quite a bit on that.

But if he was packing in another jurisdiction, it wouldn't have been an issue, right?

Agreed, Favre is nowhere near a top 15 QB. If he were as good as the media makes him out to be he would have beaten Miami and taken the Jets to the Playoffs last year.

The gun wasn't licensed in New York or New Jersey, and his concealed carry permit for Florida had expired in 2008.

What jurisdiction allows an unlicensed handgun to be carried, concealed or in the open? Sounds to me like he would have been screwed even if the gun was fired in Florida, where the gun was licensed, because his concealed carry permit had expired.

Not quite sure of your point.

Take care,

Well not just gun laws but it sounds like the DA wanted to make an example of the guy who screwed up the Giants' repeat Superbowl.

That might be a bit too "second gunman on the grassy knoll" for me to believe, but there's little doubt Burress' celebrity played a role in the prosecution of this case.

Yeah, I was a little excessive saying top 5, but I believe he is still capable of being top 10, definitely top 15 (once you get out of the top 10, the NFL is pretty thin at qb). And I also prefaced my opinion by saying if healthy, which he clearly wasn't last year. If you look at his last healthy year (2007 in GB), he threw for over 4000 yds with nearly 30 TDs. Of course, it is probably doesn't matter, since odds are he won't have another healthy season again.

Was he sharing a cab with the Blackhawks' Patrick Kane? :)

enjoying Gruden on Monday Night Football. Believe he may end up being one of the better announcers they've had, in a while.

don't know why, have always found him to be very likeable.

even had to laugh when he called my boyy David Clowney, "Mr August" : )

With the broadcast that they put on the past couple of seasons they really had nowhere to go but up. I agree though, Chuckie is good in the booth and just what the MNF team needed. Having 2 people who really know football raises Tirico's stock IMO.

Agreed that Gruden is a great addition! Too bad he'll probably bolt for a coaching job next year.

"Mike Tannenbaum: "We'll send you Vernon Gholston and a 1st round pick for Brandon Marshall."
Broncos: "Okay. We'll trade Marshall for a 1st rounder."
Mike Tannenbaum: "Great. And Vernon Gholston, right?"
Broncos: "Ummm, no. You can keep Gholston, just give us the pick."
Mike Tannenbaum: "You don't understand. You HAVE to take Gholston as part of the deal."
Broncos: "I don't think this is going to work out."

via a Jets message board. I lol'd

Tirico no longer has to carry the load, so he's much better now. Gruden is awesome. He's like what Madden was back when John Madden was John Madden. Fresh, insightful, direct, no bullshitting around, funny, earthy, smart, and full of energy. It's a real breath of fresh air.

I like Jaws a lot in general, but I really believe you must have one offensive guy and one defensive guy to truly have a great booth. No one in broadcasting believes that, but I do. Or at least have a special teams guy, gimme ol' Jerry Glanville! Someone other than an offensive-minded guy all the time needs to be in there to balance the discussion.
