Are you really contemplating ruining your PS3 on purpose to get a replacement? Sheesh. I mean, sure, i'm not the most moral guy out there, but that's a little excessive.

The thought occured to me. It is more of a hassle than anything, so I haven't yet decided. Knowing my luck, they won't honor the replacement plan for whatever reason. Does BB still offer them anyways?

Indeed and don't feel one ounce of guilt. Although, I'll be hiding this little secret from the "boss". I don't need to hear her two cents!

The smaller size is nice and if it really runs quieter all the time, that would be a good thing to have.

But otherwise, the new design is kind of boring and certainly isn't worth replacing a unit which is still working.

Sony had to cut costs and and the PS3 price but I hope now they're working on getting a new console out by no later than end of 2011.

it's not like you're putting a live parakeet in the microwave.

wrap a towel around it, and do your business.

I picked a PS3 Slim at BB. They had like more than enough. Overall I like the new size but IMO my original 60GB kills it in every way.

I like the look a lot. Don't be fooled fooled these things still run hot. I do like the new size. I was able to place the PS3 vertical without buying the PS3 stand. 8)

Already had two or would have bought this one....For me its simple math. If you have 2 HD TVs you need 2 Blu ray players....Can never have too many blu ray players :P

Their streaming movie selection is horrible.

Good for a year old or older TV shows but that's about it.

Of course you can get actual discs mailed out to you but by itself, the streaming isn't worth it yet.

It's a nice addition for the PS3, but I can't get too excited about it considering the selection of movies. If and when they ever start offering new releases, my feelings would definitely change. Until then, I'm sure only some current Netflix members will take advantage of this. At least it's free and you don't have to pay for the online service on top of the Netflix membership.

Well they could always tack a surcharge like they did with Blu-Ray if it becomes too popular.

Yeah it will be nicer to use the PS3 than running cables from a MacBook Pro and installing Silverlight to watch a movie.

If they streamed TV shows say a day after they aired, like the web streaming services, then it would be killer. Of course, they're not going to give you that so you can replace $70 cable or satellite subscriptions with a $10 Netflix account which includes streaming.

Exactly.

However, the TV show streaming offerings are not bad. I've been watching 30 Rock lately, and there are a lot of other good shows in there. And they have quite a few classic movies, handy when the current PPV Crapapalooza looks uninviting.

The streaming is definitely not worth getting a Netflix account for, but it's a decent free perk.

I've found a ton of great stuff to watch from streaming netflix. Just finished Weeds Season 1, watched a ton of movies I would never have dreamed of watching...

BTW, one of those movies I watched was the documentary Man on Wire. A very cool show.

The addition of netflix to PS3 has me thinking of getting a PS3 now. I was going to get a Roku for the wireless feature rather than a wireless for the 360, but now for $200 more I get a blu ray player and another gaming system.

Anyone else having problems with their DS3 syncing (fast blinking 4 lights) up to their Slim? I started having this problem after the 3.10 update. The Playstation forum is littered with others having the same problem.

I've tried syncing the controller, reformatting the drive and still no luck. The only work around is to plug the USB cable into the PS3 and connect it to the controller.

I experienced this for the first time a few days ago. I thought something had reset. I wasn't sure what was causing this. I can't recall what I did to fix the issue, but I did have to restart and it worked. I haven't had that problem for the last two days.
