OT: Beer, etc.

Here is my new top 10:

1-Sam Smith's Nut Brown Ale (Outstanding!!!- very pricey though)
2-Sweetwaters Sweet Georgia Brown Ale (wish it didn't give me a headache!)
3-Thomas Creek Red Ale (great all around - perfect carbonation)
4-Newcastle (a bit flat - needs more carbonation)
5-Sam Adams (nice hoppy aftertaste - great on tap)
6-Yuengling (Tap Only! - like a different beer on tap)
7-Bass Ale (a bit too much carbonation - very filling)
8-Warsteiner (great all around lager - crisp and clear)
9-Pilsner Urquell (great smooth lager)
10-Stella Artois (very easy going down...a bit indistinct)

I like most anything from Sweetwater; 420 Extra Pale Ale is my favorite. Something else in your area is Terrapin; I love the Rye Pale Ale (bottles are good, on tap is great). I am also stocking the fridge with Sierra Nevada Pale Ale.

Whatever you guys do...DO NOT drink Miller Chill. Some new crap they just came out with. Tastes like piss...seriously. A buddy of mine who works liquor at a grocery store brought me a six pack of it...made it through about three sips. Same thing happened to the other three people I had try it. What a disaster.

I like the 420 too. Haven't tried Terrapin yet...I see it in the stores.
I didn't like Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. It had a strong taste of something or
other...hops? something that makes it bitter I think....definitely an "acquired taste" and I'm not willing to put in the "work" to acquire it

I won't drink Miller......anything. Miller tastes horrible IMO...like club soda.

I guess I am not very educated in that type of thing. Just had to do a google search to see why I like 420 so much. LOL

Is it available in your area or is Sweetwater pretty much regional (SE ... I have had it in GA and FL)?

Terrapin is different - I guess because of the rye - but not as strong a taste as Sierra Nevada. It does not taste like Sweetwater 420, but it is closer to that than Sieera Nevada.

Not in my top three (Sierra Nevada Porter, Guinness, Newcastle Brown), but definitely in my top 10 and the only "everyday brew" on my list.

Huh, we used to drink it in college cuz our fav liq sold it dirt cheap. Always thought of it as canada's version of Pabst.

Funny you mention that because I actually like it (for what it is of course). I am a fairly big beer connoisseur, but sometimes I like a nice, light, refreshing beer to guzzle down on a hot day or at a bar-b-q. I think the Miller Chill is great for that. It's basically Miller Light with a slight Corona flavor and a hint of lime and salt flavors. Goes great with some peanuts or chips and salsa.

Brought the remaining 5 beers to a 4th of July bbq last night...11 people tried it...two liked it, three said it was ok, but they'd never buy it and the other 6 were like me. That can't be a good sign for a beer. I can see how people may like it when they are sweating in the backyard during the summer or something, but it was 95 degrees here yesterday and the Newcastle ruled the day.

Well duh...

If I were reaching into a cooler with Miller Chill and Newcastle, I'd grab the Newcastle 9.5 times out of 10 too! But, like I said, for the same times I would want or buy Miller Lite or another light, cheap beer, I would definitely buy Miller Chill over the regular Lite because I think it has a nice added flavor with the lime and salt.

Sometimes I just don't want to guzzle down a darker or heavier beer and cheap beer certainly has it's place in my diet (sometimes you just can't beat a cold Old Style).

I've discovered a really good beer. After the Dolphins renamed the Stadium to Landshark Stadium, out of curiosity I tried the beer and it's freaking awesome.

It's the only American Lager or Beer that doesn't give me a headache. It has a mild beer taste like Corona but only better, actually much better. The beer has a good flavor range at different temperatures so it still tastes good if it's not cold.

It's a small family owned place that specializes in unusual brewing styles. I don't know how widely available they are outside Chicago, but they're worth checking out.

Also enjoying the Sam Adams blackberry witbier and a number of brews from Breckenridge.

Blue Moon (decent)
Hoegarden (really like it)
Shock Top (pretty good......especially if u are at a gas station)

I tried Shock Top, didn't care for it. Keep in mind you have to swirl the citrus in the Shock Top bottle before drinking it.

I've bought some amazing beers from Albertsons Super Market. I bought from them a six pack of Coffee Vanilla Porter, Raspberry Wheat Ale, Blueberry as well as a Peach Wheat Ale. They weren't big sellers, go figure so they were marked down to $3.99 and I said sure i'll try it. They were the best beers i've had in a looooooooong time.
