Craziness with work and life has seen my gaming time drop way down lately, but I found myself playing 'just one more round' with this one for like 2+ hours last night. Very fun, although I can't kill anyone and spend most of my time joyriding in planes. Well, not really joyriding as I'm trying to kill people, but...

I'm pretty good at avoiding getting shot down myself, though.

Please count me in the next time DSPers get together. Think we can manage 16 players for a DSP only room?

Same thing here, with a busy summer schedule and trying to enjoy the best of this weather outdoors, I finally managed to get a couple of rounds yesterday. I enjoy driving the tank and while I have problems also killing the enemy on the ground while on foot, how many bullets dies it take to bring a dude down?

I am going to try the tutorial and see how the plane works. What a deal for $15 bucks. Lots of fun and like someone mentioned earlier, I like the fact that you're not ranked as per how many kills you have, but by your performance.

Getting knocked down by the tool is annoying.

The answer is about fifty if I'm the one doing the shooting, and around two if I'm the one getting shot at. At least in my case.

One upper body sniper shot can bring someone down.

Probably takes 2-3 shots with a rifle (by far my most effective weapon in this game, though I am purely an automatic weapon guy in other games), and 4-6 hits with a SMG.

Killing on foot in this game is definitely different than most FPS's. The single biggest reason is that there is absolutely no aim assist, which is a rarity for a console title. Also, this game may lag a little more, you are often shooting fairly long distances, and the weapons kick quite a bit. Making things even more difficult is certain weapons, like the tank machine gun as operated by the driver, don't shoot to the middle of your aiming cursor (it shoots lower).

The end result is that it takes a while to learn the game's quirks before you can be effective in killing, unlike other games where you can drop in and go 100% as a noob.

Thanks for the tips. Like you, I prefer the SMG thinking that the automatic weapon can finish a guy quicker, while the rifle takes longer to reload. Sure automatic aiming would help but I was getting mildly irritated that I could not put down a dude with at least five shots at his body and like Slumb was mentioning, only two to get you.

I know what you mean. I played a game yesterday where I flew around the entire game, without getting killed, missing my bomb targets by a few hundred feet over and over. I felt like I was playing Pilot Wings instead of Battlefield. Luckily no one jumped on the AA guns

You can't be all that bad though as I jumped into one of your games yesterday just before you left and saw you sitting 2nd on your team.

What I do when in a tank is drive in 3rd person and then switch to the 1st person window/cockpit view when I spot a target. 3rd person aiming is off, but its crazy accurate when in 1st person view. I believe its that way by design. I do the same thing in the planes as well.

I'm still playing at least a game or two nightly. I probably won't make it tonight though since its the 1 vs. 100 Xbox live prize show that my wife has been looking forward to.

I know I'll be still playing Battlefield for a long time to come.

I've been playing it when I have time. The first thing I've learned? Man, I suck!

I might be able to play later tonight......
