I always have a little love for Carlitos from the days of Boca Juniors. He'll put some goals as usual, more than the trio of forwards at City combined last season, fsquid wrote:Tevez officially to Man City. I love how he plays the game even if it isn't "beautiful", but that is the German in me.

Adebayor tomorrow, Lescott soon, and the bidding for John Terry is genius even if we don't get him....the silence from him has been deafening.
I like the way these deals are done as well - no Redknapp-esque tapping up, or bleating from the Waiter, it's all quiet from the club til the details are done, then an announcement on the website and it's game over. Lot of lessons learnt from the Kaka deal, i think.
Speaking of Redknapp, it's been almost 18 hours since the first announcement, and yet there's been no sighting of the bent get moaning that Spurs had offered a massive £10m for him, but they'd been 'blown out of the water' by City's 'silly money'.
I hope he's not ill - maybe the excitement of getting a well-past-it Vieira on a free has overloaded his twitching valve.
Can't wait to see the Waiter once Xavi Alonso goes. I must admit that moaning about stupid transfer fees while having a £17m Chelsea reject and toilet seat thief sat next to him was either irony of the highest order, or a stunning display of lack of self-knowledge. I know where my money is going

Any time that the FA lawyers spend two weeks going through your paperwork you are. Plus I don't hear anyone complaining about Mascherano.miget33 wrote:Oh yeah, anytime your dealing with Kia Joorabchian, deals are always on the level.

Now that Bojinov is finally fit after 2 years, he's good for the bench or maybe a season long loan (Jo is already at Everton, so that's them done for). City played a friendly against 1860 Munchen last Saturday with only 2 or 3 first teamers involved, but Boj was looking sharp by all accounts.Feanor wrote:Going to be a bit of a logjam at striker if City get Adebayor as well. I assume they'll be looking to ship the likes of Bojinov and Bellamy out rather than have them pouting on the bench all season.
Bellamy was always a stopgap...unsurprisingly, Twitcher Redknapp has been tappin....er, voicing his admiration for Bellamy. I'd go for a straight swap with David Bentley, otherwise City should ask for what they paid for him or the bent sod can get stuffed....they've already banked £8m from Sevilla for Didier Zakora (I can only assume Sevilla have never seen him actually play).

Still the only person to score a hat-trick v Man U in the Premiership.
I think he'd definitely be an upgrade over Wright-Philips, but I suspect that Elano will get another shift to see if he might actually try more often than 1 game in 3...he's excellent when he can be arsed to try.

Now they are saying that he definitely won't.
There's a real Leeds United vibe starting around this one, methinks. There is no sense that they have started any sort of preparation for the upcoming season, and if they think that they'll be bouncing straight back with 100 points, then a big surprise is ahoy. Some of the players will be just right for the Championship (ello Joey), others just won't have the fight for it.

Indeed, that's why The Professor and The Spanish Waiter are laying into the 'big spending tactics' - particularly odd from Benitez, as he was sat next to an £18m signing and had just given Gerrard a 130k a week contract.
You can smell one thing from them - the smell of FEAR.
They're like the bodies tied to the railway tracks...they can feel the juggernaut approaching, they know it's coming, they just can't see it yet...
Might as well get my giddiness out of the system now, before normal service resumes in August as we start out with a 2-0 defeat at Blackburn

5th this year in The Championship, you mean?fsquid wrote:5th isn't good enough for a massive club.pk500 wrote:It's a mess. In other words, nothing has changed since Bobby Robson was sacked.

I thought Robson got canned after finishing 5th in the EPL. Maybe I am wrong. 5th in the Championship gets you into the playoffs though. I bet Newcastle would take that.pk500 wrote:5th this year in The Championship, you mean?fsquid wrote:5th isn't good enough for a massive club.pk500 wrote:It's a mess. I'm really hoping City DON'T sign Adebayor now.
1. Because it will do more damage to Arsenal because they'll have no money to bring in the players that Wenger really wants.
2. It'll be amusing watching Arsenal fans and ex-players back pedalling and proclaiming that he's world class, and that it wasn't him they were referring to when they called a Mr Adebayor 'a lazy get who won't be missed'.

Yes, true. He was canned three weeks into the 2004-05 season. Newcastle finished fifth the prior season.fsquid wrote:I thought Robson got canned after finishing 5th in the EPL. Maybe I am wrong. 5th in the Championship gets you into the playoffs though. I bet Newcastle would take that.
After taking over from Gullit, Robson led Newcastle to 11th, fourth, third and fifth in the Premiership. Yet Fat Freddy thought he wasn't doing a good job and sacked him.
O ... K ...

I bet they would as well. I'm more inclined to suggest that if they do leave the Championship this season, they'll be setting up a local derby with my lot in League One.fsquid wrote:5th in the Championship gets you into the playoffs though. I bet Newcastle would take that.
Dave's already mentioned it, but the Mags haven't even started getting ready for 2010/11. No concrete idea of who'll own the club, who'll manage it, who'll be playing for it and how many people will be turning up to watch it. Right now it's difficult to see how it can be the lead-in to anything other than a desperate mess of a season.
