Manny's speed advantage was staggering, and Ricky returned to his bull-rush tactics the minute Manny connected for the first time.
Bad news for Ricky. He's done as a pound-for-pound PPV draw. He'll still get good fights because he has such a huge following, but he has been knocked out in his two shots at the pound-for-pound king.
Floyd won't have it easy against Marquez, but he should win, setting up the fight that EVERYONE wants to see: Manny vs. Floyd. I'm salivatling already!
Take care,
PK

Grabbing it now. Thanks for the tip!
P.S.: Danny Jacobs looked VERY impressive on "Friday Night Fights." I think he'll get a middleweight title shot by early next year.
Take care,

I too think Jacobs will be very good, however he didn't necessarily fight someone with a great deal of recent success. Didn't his challenger just come back from not fighting for a while?pk500 wrote:Grabbing it now. Thanks for the tip!

What a scrub that Delonte Wild fought. He could be good as well, but you won't know until he challenges someone who can actually throw punches with skill.

Walton had come off a layoff, but he was a fairly tough fighter who never had been stopped in a fight. Not a stern test for Jacobs, but I was impressed with the methodical way he used combinations upstairs and downstairs to finish Walton.
But you're right about Wilder: He really needs to start stepping up in class. That opponent was a complete tomato can.
Still, I understand Wilder's camp taking it slow. The guy has such a limited amateur career that it would be terrible to rush him up the ladder quickly and see him blown out.
So, what did you think of Joe and Teddy as a broadcast tandem? Pretty damn good, eh?

He was voted as one of the all time greats into the International Boxing HOF. He was a class guy as well as Champion. Aaron "Hawk Time" Pryor was stunned when he heard the news. I saw both those fights and they were classic. There's still a shroud of controversy over what Panama Lewis put in the water bottle he gave to Pryor after the 13th Rd.pk500 wrote:Alexis Arguello dead at 57. Bummer. RIP.

Boxing has lost one of it's true greats.
RIP

Canadian boxer and former world champ Arturo Gatti was found dead in Brazil. It's still not known the circumstances but here at home the news is hitting hard for boxing fans.
'Thunder' always was willing to exchanges punches with superior fighters and had a memorable tilt with Oscar de La Hoya.
Sad news, he was only 37.

Man, that's a bummer. Gatti's trilogy with Micky Ward was EPIC, one of the best three-fight sets in any weight class in the last 25 years.10spro wrote:Canadian boxer and former world champ Arturo Gatti was found dead in Brazil. Alexis Arguello, now Gatti. These guys are leaving us too soon.

Man, Gatti was a warrior. I watched two of the three Gatti/Ward fights and was in awe of the efforts by both fighters.pk500 wrote:Man, that's a bummer. Police detain wife of former boxing champion Gatti
"SAO PAULO (AP)—Brazilian authorities say they have detained the wife of former boxing champion Arturo Gatti as a suspect following his death at a posh seaside resort in Brazil.
Police say 23-year-old Amanda Rodrigues was taken into custody Sunday because of contradictions when she was interrogated. Gatti’s body was found early Saturday in a hotel room at the Porto de Galinhas resort in northeastern Brazil.
A spokeswoman for the Pernambuco state civil police says Gatti was apparently strangled with the strap of a purse, which was found with blood stains at the scene. Milena Saraiva told The Associated Press that the Canadian also had a head injury.
Saraiva said authorities were preparing to present a formal accusation against Rodrigues."
I can't wait for this one....Cotto vs. Pacquiao on 11/14!!

This should be a fine fight. Cotto is bigger physically, but I think Manny's work rate will wear him down. Margarito did the same thing, but then again, his gloves probably were loaded for that fight, too!
My only beef about this fight is that it's taking place at a catch weight of 145. For f*ck's sake, there's only 7 pounds between junior welterweight and welterweight. Just pick one of the two and go there.
I really want to see Manny and Mosley fight. I think Sugar Shane could and would win that fight.
Take care,

Vernon Forrest shot to death in apparent car-jacking attempt. Damn, another fighter dead. I liked Forrest's style. I remember when he took out Mosely...I was stunned. RIP

What the hell is going on? Bad things truly do come in threes: Arguello, Gatti and now Forrest.
Forrest apparently chased the guys on foot who tried to steal his Jaguar. Forrest had a gun, and the crooks had automatic weapons and opened fire.
RIP.

Fishy, fishy. The guy was drunk out of his mind, yet he was able to strangle himself with a purse strap?10spro wrote:Sad to know that Arturo Gatti actually took his own life, despite early allegations that his wife was involved.
Somehow I sense a miscarriage of the Brazilian justice system here, if that's not an oxymoron already. I'm not saying his wife did it, but it also could have been an accident. I just find it hard to believe a guy that drunk could consciously kill himself on a couch with a purse strap.
Sorry, I'm not buying it. RIP, either way.

Kelly "The Ghost" Pavlik vs. Paul "The Punisher" Williams on Oct. 3 from Atlantic City for the middleweight championship. Williams was a beast at 147; none of the top welterweights would get near him because he's 6-1 and has a longer wingspan than heavyweight champion Klitschko.
This is going to be a HELL of a test for Kelly.
Can't wait to see it!
