E:
You didn't see the Oilers' D play much this year. The Habs' D looks like vintage late 70s' Canadiens this year compared to the Oil, especially after Visnovsky got hurt.

I only caught the Oilers once and they were pretty awful; sorry you had to sit through a season of it (Though the Bruins before the last few years were painfully bad). How about I amend it to "worst passing D in the playoffs?"

I was unsurprised but disappointed by scuffles after the open-net goal and after the final whistle. Frustration fights just make the instigators look stupid.
It will be very interesting to see how the NHL handles discipline from the shenanigans at the end of the Bruins-Habs game last night.
Carcillo's shot was cheap in the Flyers-Penguins' game, but the crap in the Bruins-Habs' game was even more of an eyesore for the league. But it was two-way battling once the cheap shot was leveled on Kessel, and you never know how the NHL will rule on these things.
Honestly, I didn't think Carcillo's infraction was that bad even though I think he's a cementhead. It set a bad precedent because there will be plenty of stickwork like that throughout the playoffs, and now the NHL will be forced to act on all of them or look inconsistent.
And we all know, the NHL discipline enforcement always is consistent.

Spot-on, bro! But I'd rather be the worst-passing D in the playoffs than the worst-passing D preparing the offseason cottage on Georgian Bay!

When you send a player with Carcillo's skill set out there, you can't act surprised when you're on the phone with the league office. And when you continually take a bunch of ill-advised and well-deserved penalties, you can't act surprised when your penalty killers log too much ice time.
Instead of putting on their blank faces and explaining stupid penalties, the Flyers might try actually changing their behavior. It's worth a try.
I guess I'm in the minority: I LOVE all of this chippy, nasty sh*t in the playoff openers.
That's what playoff hockey is all about, doing whatever it takes to get an advantage on the ice and weaken the will of the opponents. It's also one of the reasons why the Stanley Cup Playoffs is the most grueling postseason grind in sports, and nothing else is even close.

I like the chippy stuff - the hard checks, the hair-trigger tempers - even the pointless stuff like knocking back someone's helmet when they poke at a goalie; I don't like the late, pointless, frustrated child-like tantrums and petty would-be goading crap like at the end (and after the final whistle) of the Bruins-Habs.

I love it too...this is the way it should be. I'm old school hockey, you man up and you play. Late hits after goals being scored, melee's at end of games...now that's real hockey.

From the highlights I saw Hillier played pretty good for ANH, and SJ hit I think 4 or 5 posts and crossbars that must have them cursing their luck.....
The Penguins tied the game at 1-1 late in the 2nd on a soft goal let in by Biron. That's according to the Flyers forums; the game was blacked out on Versus from the start for me this time.

You obviously did not get a chance to follow J.Hiller as they were fighting for a playoff spot the past two months. As I mentioned earlier, ANA is a team I wouldn't want to face in the 1st round.

Fell asleep early in the second. You can thank a double of Clan MacGregor and an eye dropper's worth of water at about 10:30 p.m. for that.

No I haven't been able to see much of ANA this year.
