So I called the Circuit City warranty. Basically I send my system in and they are going to send me a check for $350 (the price I paid for the game).

So I guess since new systems cost $299, I make $50 on the deal. Only thing is, I lose all my current game saves. (which sucks because I had a nice Syracuse hoops dynasty going on 2K8).

Oh well.

So when I go to buy my new XBOX, how do I make sure I am getting one of the newly built machines that aren't supposed to crap out?

If you need to keep your saves, just buy a memory card and transfer them from HD to Memory. They are cheap.

Mine got the RROD last night while playing GH Metallica, pissed me off!

Put some towels over it for about 10 mins and it's been working fine ever since.

Looks like I'll be getting an arcade 360 soon.

It finally died today.. I thought I had mine for more than 3 years, but I called MS and they are shipping me a box as it's still covered.

It's going to be a lonely two weeks. :(

LOL!

Imagine if Microsoft actually made a reliable piece of hardware where they would be in this generation.

No coincidence that they just announce this, and what do I see on my TV screen when I turn on my 360?

The good thing is I took mine apart awhile back when I was getting DDE's and fixed that. I thought with the seal broken, they wouldn't fix it, but it's on its way back fixed!!!

Any word on how to get a refund for a previous fix. Mine died in January from E74 and I had to pay $99 to get it fixed.

Damn. Seems to me there are a lot of systems going down recently. I wonder why that is. Weird.

Microsoft will refund to customers the amount paid for an out of warranty repair due to a general hardware failure associated with the e74 error message. Those customers should automatically receive the refund within 4-12 weeks, and no additional action by customers should be necessary. However, if a customer has not received a refund by July 1, 2009, the customer should visit www.xbox.com/support before November 1, 2009 for information on how to place a claim. All refund claims must be received on or before November 1, 2009.

My Arcade 360 bought in December 2007 RRoDed last week. It was almost exclusively a Pro Evolution Soccer machine, so I'm back to PES 2008 on the PS2 and enjoying it. TBH they can take their time repairing the 360. They do anyway by all accounts  .

Mine just RROD yesterday. I am really considering going to the PS3 since this is like my 5th 360 failure.

If either of mine RROD (I am on my 4th launch unit, my Elite is "knock on wood" still going strong since July 2007) I am going to do the same thing.

Yea, I am really leaning that way. I can play all the same games on the 360 plus I can get MLB 09 and Hot Shots Golf.

I know i keep saying this but can you imagine where the 360 would be at this point if the machine were reliable?

I was just reading an article at Bill Harris's blog and he states that at this point in it's lifespan the PS3 is 800,000 units behind where the original Xbox was. I knew the PS3 was doing bad but that is quite staggering.

Sorry to get off topic, all I can say about the 360 issues is once I got off the repair train my 360's have worked fine. I suggest anyone who has one repaired unload it and get a newer arcade unit.

I'm just amazed at some (or perhaps I should say most) of you who have gone through more than two 360's and continue to support MS. Seriously, how many times do you have to return or send a console back before you say enough is enough?

Brent,

I'd take a serious look at the PS3 if I were you. I think you would be more than happy with your purchase. Judging by the games you play, you won't see a bit of difference, especially in the sports games. Furthermore, you're getting a very nice blu-ray player.

So, PS3 sales lag behind MS. Do you work for either company? Do you think Sony is going to stop producing PS3s? Seriously, I think people look at sales and let that be the determining factor why they should or shouldn't by a particular console. Personally, I look at the games and the quality of the system. I have absolutely no regrets going with the PS3 after owning the 360 for a year. Peace of mind feels soooo very fine.

Well for me, despite the inconvenience of having to send it in to get it fixed, it doesn't cost any thing to get repaired, and the PS3 is still $400.
