It doesn't surprise me if true. I don't follow the Bills but from what I read Dick Jauron skated on getting fired for this years Bills collapse. With that said it's make or break for Dick Jauron and he's willing to dance with TO.PRBoom wrote:NFL.com is reporting that WR Terrell Owens and the Buffalo Bills have agreed to a one year deal.

Ya if true you nailed it.
That stench that is desperation now has a name...and it is Owens.

The Bills have chemistry?? TO is good for one year before things go bad. What's to lose by signing him? If it doesn't work, they miss the playoffs (like last year). At least this year, they'll sell a few more tickets.sportdan30 wrote:Why anyone would sign this guy is beyond me. It's not like the Bills are expected to do much.
If he can still take a 10-yard hitch, evade tackles and run for 40-50 yards, that's a pretty valuable thing to have.
As for the locker room chemistry, supposedly he had supporters in the Cowboys locker room.
And their collapse can't be pinned on him alone.

When you have nothing to lose you will do anything.
Not recent but Calvin Hill (Boys and Skins) and John Riggins (Jets) were disruptive. Seriously....has there been a bigger piece of s*** in the NFL?...Recent history?

Exactly. As a Bills' fan, I like this deal for one reason -- it's one year.greggsand wrote:The Bills have chemistry?? TO is good for one year before things go bad. What's to lose by signing him? The guy gives the Bills exactly what they lack -- a tough receiver who can catch slants over the middle and be physical while fighting in the end zone for passes. Lee Evans is strictly a vertical guy, and the Bills haven't got much of anything out of their tight end position since the days of Pete Metzelaars. They need a big, strong guy to win jump balls in the end zone and be fearless over the middle.
Plus Owens' presence really helps Evans. Defenses can't just key on Evans all day with T.O. on the other side of the field.
This is a big risk for Trent Edwards, as T.O. will jump his sh*t the second something goes wrong, and Edwards doesn't have the Super Bowl rings or MVP's to wave in reply like Brady does to Moss in New England.
But I still like this move. It's very low risk because it's only one year. And the Bills need to make a statement to their loyal fan base that they're willing to spend bucks on a guy who can be a difference maker, a superstar. It's been a long time since the Bills had one of those guys on offense.
Again, it's a one-year deal. A worthy roll of the dice.
Take care,
PK

the supporters all on defense. Only Marion Barber III has given his support on the offense.[/b]wco81 wrote:It's not like the Bills are expected to do much.

Thats just part of being a fan.sportdan30 wrote:Of course any fan of a team that signs T.O. is going to defend him. Look at his track record. Everywhere he's been has always been about him. This will be no different.
I remember when Rodman came to the Bulls. He went from being the greatest evil in the universe to mr. cute and cuddly. I needed to drive with a barf bag listening to sports radio in the car.
Every team TO has been on and left has had to deal with locker room issues. It happened in SF, Philly and now The Big D.sportdan30 wrote:Of course any fan of a team that signs T.O. is going to defend him. Look at his track record. This move guarantees fans in the seats at Ralph Wilson Stadium this season. It'll generate revenue through merchandise sales and it's a last ditch effort for Jouron to keep his job after this up-coming season.
I know the Bills sold out all of their games last year, but they got off to a very hot start. Combine the late season meltdown with the ever deteriorating economy this signing should help keep the ticket sales flowing.

I didn't think the Bills fans where far weather fans. I mean I thought they always sold out regardless. I don't buy the whole TO will put more butts in the seats at least for home games.

At this point, TO may not have marquee value.
But if he delivers the numbers, that should help attendance.
Bills were next to last in the last season or two in TD receptions.
TO had the most TDs in the league during his seasons in Dallas.
Take care of the football first an then deal with the other stuff later.

Its clearly a nothing to lose situation for them. Jaurons last gasp as a head coach in the NFL. Cant blame him.
At this point a good team or a new head coach wouldnt touch that sack with a 10 foot pole.

If Owens scores a bunch of touchdowns and the Bills make the playoffs, it can be all about him in capital letters with neon.sportdan30 wrote:Of course any fan of a team that signs T.O. is going to defend him. Most NFL fans have really short memories when said player starts putting points on the board.
