Yeah, it was one of those games that when I first looked at it, I was like "naw that's not for me." However, once I picked it up and started playing, I really enjoyed it. Good pick up. I'm currently playing Advance Wars: Days of Ruin. Awesome, awesome war strategy game with limitless replay value due to the ability to create your own maps (and download new maps through the Map Center).sportdan30 wrote:I traded in Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, which by the way is a very good game for Picross. This game is every bit as addictive as claimed. It definitely lives up to the hype! I only messed around with it for a little while last night, but I can already tell this is a game with a lot of replay value. What a great puzzle game!
Any DS Lite retail deals out there?

If I'm picking up a DS Lite, is there anything else I need to grab? (i.e. cases, screen protectors?)
What about great quirky, puzzle games? I'm thinking about Professor Layton, Picross, Elite Beat Agents, Air Traffic Chaos and Trauma Center 2.
Thanks...seems like a fun little system for air travel, killing some time at home when I don't feel like the ps3 and even at lunch at work.

Elite Beat Agents is no puzzler and is kind of an odd game, but it is probably my favorite DS game.fanatic wrote:If I'm picking up a DS Lite, is there anything else I need to grab? (i.e. cases, screen protectors?)

One puzzler I did enjoy was Meteos. And Zookeeper took over my life for a little while when I got it---it's one of those games that make you think to yourself 'this is so simple yet so addicting how come no one had thought of it before?'
I don't play my DS much anymore but if you dig a little there are a ton of enjoyable and unique games out there for it.

Yeah, not sure why I threw Elite Beat Agents in that list! It just looks so good I got carried away.
Meteos and Zookeeper both look really good from what I've read. I'd probably love the platforming games like Mario, Kirby, Yoshi's Island as well...I only wish they come out with a great baseball text sim like OOTP or put the Success Mode in Power Pros.
Picked up a ds lite yesterday...
Gotta say that I'm pretty impressed at both the small size of the thing and the screen clarity. Both exceeded my expectations. I'm also liking the stylus, which to me, is just as fresh, if not fresher than discovering the motion controls on the Wii.
I also grabbed a copy of Super Mario Bros., Elite Beat Agents and Trauma Center 2. All are top notch experiences....Elite Beat Agents is a great title with tonnes of style and Trauma Center is a blast - performing emergency medical procedures with a stylus is something to experience alright.
What I didn't realize before I bought the ds was that a bunch of games are almost impossible to find (even used). Professor Layton is supposedly discontinued, which is a shame because it was the game that really inspired me to buy the system. I'm sure it will turn up somewhere.
Getting back to Elite Beat Agents - the Japanese game that inspired it (Osu something) looks amazing as well. It's obviously in Japanese, so the text will be lost on me, but the gameplay and comic book story telling might be good enough to warrant a purchase. I found a used copy for $49 yesterday...might pull the trigger.

Ouendan 1 and 2 are tricky to pick between.
The sequel has the incredibly useful addition of being able to skip the start of songs that was first seen in EBA. On the original Ouendan, I eventually had to give up trying to beat the last song on Hard because of the 35 second wait between starting the song and actually doing anything.
However, I don't like the music and characters in Oundan 2 nearly as much. They're just not as appealing or catchy.

Great feedback, thanks. I'll probably pick up the original tonight. And if my first experience with EBA yesterday proves anything, its that it will be quite a while before I'm trying Ouendan on Hard...Feanor wrote:Ouendan 1 and 2 are tricky to pick between.

Picked up both Ouendan 1 and 2. Played the first and simply loved it. Just like Elite Beat Agents but within a crazy stylized Japanese context. I'm pretty sure I'll end up destroying my screen with those "spins" but it will be worth it in the end.
Also picked up Hotel Dusk which looks like an interesting adventure/mystery game with a lot of visual style (you can tell what type of games I like).
In terms of upcoming releases - Henry Hatsworth looks a promising action/puzzler and Scribblenauts simply looks like one of the most original games of all time...You can literally write anything and it will appear on screen for you to use in order to solve a puzzle. You guys should check out some of the media at ign if you get the chance.

For anybody looking for a super addictive puzzler on the DS, look no further than Picross. Kind of like Sudoku (from what I've heard about Sudoku) and probably my favorite title on the DS so far (I know I've only had the system for a week and a half, but I've also gone a bit nuts and bought 10 games in the time).

I just sold my DS Lite and preordered the DSi on Amazon.
If you like Elite Beat Agents, definitely check out the upcoming Rhythm Heaven from Nintendo. Clubhouse Games is another great addition to your collection.
Also, good news for portable golfers, I think Tiger Woods '10 is coming out for the DS this year.
