Steady on, mate - one step at a time, eh? . What's odd, mind, is that I embed videos everywhere else, just never here...

Snap. I could have sworn Simbin, or Atari or whoever, said a demo would be ready a month before release, and we know the finished product has gone gold so I do wonder what's keeping them. That particular video is, to me, the most encouraging sign yet that a lot of what made GTR Evolution enjoyable on the PC might have been retained here, and I only hope it's as good to control as it is to watch.
I hope I can get in on this party. I will rent it at the very least to see if I can have fun with it. I am worried it might be too "sim" for my console racing ablities or lack thereof

Ya that was the beauty of Grid for me...I got to win online races ...even the one at Lemans. Aint happening for me on a sim. Not in a million years.
Last couple of nights I have broken out Forza to get some sorta "sim" driving in before the release so as not to piss anyone off.
I did the 30 lap endurance race at Laguna Seca...Flawed as it may be, its a pretty cool game that Forza..

Ditto. My idea of "sim" racing is not allowing snaking in Mario Kart.
Xbox Series: Murph1 Nintendo Switch 2: SW-8125-7768-9102
....I regularly race on GTR2 and rFactor, so I won't be like that last guy...
Here are the Xbox Live options when you're creating a room:
Difficulty (Novice, Semi-Pro, Professional)
Track
Car class
Race length (1-75 laps)
Weather (Dry, Rain)
Damage Sensitivity (Off, Forgiving, Intermediate, Realistic)
Brake and tire ware (On, Off)
Language
Player slots
AI opponents
Invite only (Yes, No)
Qualification (Yes, No)
Depending on what difficulty you set the room to, depends on what driver aids people in the room can use. If the room is set to Professional, then it seems that NO driver aids can be used

Two major updates for you:
1) I just tried the MS Wheel. WOW! What a difference! Took 1.5 seconds off my best lap time at Valencia straight away on my first lap. Feels very good, and very responsive. There are options to change the sensitivity of pretty much everything to do with the wheel setup.
2) Just tried the multiplayer with Gazzara -- and I LOVE the way it works! Very similar to GTR in that when you join the game, you can drive around some practice laps (and monitor other players) until the host is ready to start the race proper. Works BRILLIANTLY. Finally, someone has nailed the online lobby system on a console!
Plus, someone asked it, but you CAN save replays at the end of a race.

Promo copies don't come with manuals, so it's all a bit of trial and error when trying to find out these things.

Q: Are there any alternative layouts for the tracks? Like Brands Hatch indy?
A: Unfortunately not at the moment. There are 13 tracks at present but I believe there will be some DLC tracks available near release. I have had the pleasure of driving at Brands and it does feel pretty solid compared to the real track

the framerate holds pretty strong for the most part but there are minor problems from time to time but nothing that will put you off (unlike NFS Undercover ) The shaking in the chassis as your car bites for grip in cockpit view is pretty special Again, the multiplayer will need to be tested with me and Block later but we will get back to you on it.

Didn't really think about the crash sounds whilst playing but will check later.
All of the cars are available for online time trials but have yet to have a race unless there is someone with a promo copy around. Block and myself should be able to test all the multiplayer later. It would be good just to have someone to race with apart from the clock.
I own a website for gamers over 25 and we have good communication with PR at Atari amongst other publishers. I just felt I should wet your appetite a little and get you spending some of that hard earned cash on a decent game rather than some of the toot that comes out

Q: From what you can tell, have they dumbed down the physics?
A: I feel they haven't dumbed it down at all. It all feels pretty solid and although there is an option for a novice to progress people that are not into racing for racing sake may get put off pretty quick. There is no room for aggressive driving and some of the stuff you can get away with in Forza. Get on that throttle too quick and you will pay some sort of price.

The menu's feel very much like RD3's did on the original Xbox, which is no bad thing. They aren't flashy, but they do the job nicely. Very clear and easy to navigate.
Apart from my first race (on semi-pro), I've only played on Professional this evening, and the handling is spot-on. I am SO impressed with the brakes especially, something the likes of Forza failed miserably on with assists off.
Then just when you thought it couldn't get any better, I plugged in my MS Wheel. Instantly quicker, and instantly hitting every apex. Feels so natural when you're using the wheel -- and if you haven't got one, I'd seriously recommend getting hold of one.
The Xbox Live lobby setup is sheer bliss, and EXACTLY what every racing fan will crave. You set up a room, and then people join it, can sit in the garage and monitor other cars practising, tinker with their setup, and practice a few laps themselves. No more waiting around on a static scree for the host to start. You can get your setup perfected, learn the track with practice laps, and monitor competitors until the host is ready to race.
Overall I am VERY impressed with Race Pro. It's brilliant, superb, and a racers dream.
I'm assuming it isn't going to be widely distributed, so I doubt there will be many deals at launch. There's a coupon for 30% trade bonus at GameCrazy floating around, not sure if GameStop has anything like that right now. It is only a $40 at least.
Candid Gamer is doing a live streaming video and chat right now while he plays Race Pro. You can ask questions and he will go straight to the different parts of the game to answer you. Don't know how long he is going to be doing this, but it is live now:
According to the chat, he's going out soon with his girlfriend for some food. Commitment to the cause there.
Don't know if it's the feed or my connection but I'm having a bit of difficulty getting the video to run smoothly for more than a couple of seconds at a time. Looks pretty good from what I can see, though.
I'm honest enough to admit I've not read every link in this thread so if all this is old news, shoot me: OXM UK's Top 10 Race Pro Questions Answered, and I'd be lying if I said all of those answers filled me with joy, especially question 8:
8. Does the WTCC championship follow the two race format?
No, when playing the WTCC championship you only drive one race, but the calendar is accurate to the 2007 season that is simulated. You have the option of a qualifying session but practise sessions only occur online. There is also a maximum of 16 cars in all races. You can choose to run all races in dry or wet conditions, but strangely enough not a random selection of the two.
My second favorite aspect of Race Pro is how everything works on Xbox Live. Taking GTR as their example, Simbin have produced arguably the greatest online lobby that a racing game has ever seen on a console. And it's so simple. You join a lobby and sit in the pits. Whilst the room is filling up, you can play with your setup, do some hot laps, and even monitor your rivals (with the ability to change camera angles). It's exactly what you want from a racing game lobby, and it works perfectly. The host can then move the session on to qualifying – which disappointingly is fixed to just one flying lap – and then ultimately to the race itself.
