I was a member at the Dugout. That was a fun site. TPG is kinda like DSP. It is more about the forums than anything else. "The Bleachers" is the most used forum over there. I am Doby12 over there. Diablo25 is my evil alter ego.
I think we've talked about this before. I was TrueCardinalFan over at the Dugout and I definitely remember you. I used to mess around with the tune file quite a bit back then. It was a sad day when coach closed the doors...
Ah yes, I do remember that. I absolutely remember TrueCardinalsFan (you). Definitely a sad day when that site closed up shop.
I will tell you what may be a good day...TOMORROW - There is a rumor flying over at Operations Sports (from a credible source) that the demo is to be released tomorrow at noon. Sounds about right. Knight (fellow member from TPG that was in San Diego with the developers) said it would be this week. Supposedly it is a 5 inning demo. I hope it is the Phils vs. Rays.
Then again, it could be a huge bust of a rumor. Oh well, fingers crossed.
I am going to pass on this year's game.. last years game was almost perfect to me and I see no reason in buying another version.. I will just pick up my created player and continue his career.

I actually liked MLB '07 better as it had less bugs. I'll still pick up MLB '09.

I did last year. First time since the High Heat days, played all 162 games. I started the night I got the game (All-Star level, default sliders), never looked back.

I don't know of any bugs in last year's game.. I know I saw some, but I don't remember any.... Then again, I avoid the amateur beta testers threads and seldomly find any myself.
Hmm, rumour is that this year's version is actually going to be region locked. So that's me staying with 08 then.
"The players come from all over the world, the money from deep underneath the Persian Gulf, but, as another, older City poster campaign put it, this is their city. They may now exist in the global spotlight, but they intend to keep it that way."

Hoping to do the same this year.
I would have finished if I wasn't busy with new dad duties. And I doubt I'll play much other than this game for at least the first couple of months.

If last year's game was almost perfect then this year should be perfect. Especially for RTTS as there has been a ton added to that mode to make it more interactive and a better overall experience.
But more than anything, this game is ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS!!!
Everyone here should check out the vids at ign when you get a chance.

Can you elaborate on what's been added to RTTS as that's the only mode I play with the game?

SIMPLY STUNNING!
I agree...the changes they made to the lighting are just incredible. I'm also in the camp that may actually play all 162 games this year. The trouble for me is going to be in finding the time to play both season and RTTS.

First thing you should do it check out the 2 RTTS Blogs at Sony's website:
I was going to go by memory of everything they did but then remembered these blogs and I am sure I wouldn't be as accurate as what they have to say. Make sure you watch the vid on the second as it shows how the training works....pretty cool stuff.
Also if you want to see all the information regarding this game from the guys at OS that went to the Community Day Event where they spent two days playing the game, you can find all the info at this guy's blog:
You know how people pay to get their characters leveled up in some games? Well, I wish I could pay someone to keep my PS3 updated for the 10,000th time.
They have a global pitch count slider. There is FULL which gives you the "most realistic gaming experience." QUICK is for, well, quicker games..."a faster paced game with more strikes, fewer fouls and other adjustments."
They have some individual pitcher sliders (human/CPU) that could bode well for more walks.
PITCHER CONTROL = "adjusts the accuracy for pitches. Shifting right improves accuracy, left decreases accuracy."
PITCHER CONSISTENCY = "adjusts the reliability of the pitchers accuracy. Shifting this to the right reduces wild pitches, passed balls, HBP and pitches that miss far from their intended target."
The demo has all the sliders, etc. to play with. I am playing on VETERAN the first game but you can go all the way up to Legend. In other words, the demo is not locked. I am loving what I am seeing so far.
Hit variety is alot better (IMO). Seems like there a way more signature stances, etc. The Phillies entire lineup is right on (unlike last year). Rays also. Pena took me way out of Citizens Bank Park...with his signature stance.
The sliders are definitely described well...plus they have a "Strategy Guide" in the pause menu that has an "Attribute and Appendix" section that explains what the attributes do.
I am having great success at getting around on pitches at the default pitch speed. I could NEVER do that in 08. I always had the pitch speed turned down to 0 and still was late alot.
The replay angles are great. They have shown a great Press Box view on replays that would be great in Manage Only Mode. Good stuff.
