Walmart stores should have plenty.
Yeah, I am sure there will be plenty. I actually have it preordered with overnight shipping from Gamestop.com. I had a $5 off code so I used it to help with the shipping. For like $4 extra I don't have to be bothered with driving to get the game after work.

Did they change anything as far as the gameplay mechanics are concerned? Or is it still "press one button to pitch" "press one button to hit"? The lack of interactive controls always made this game boring for me. They haven't changed much in that dept in over 5 years.

I don't think they did, Jack, other than the baserunning controls in RTTS. The Sony guys seem to be much bigger on adding minor details that us baseball fanatics love than in making major changes to the gameplay (which is fine by me). We should know more within the next day or so since today is the day that the "community leaders" are heading out to SCEA's offices for some hands-on time with the game.

A valid point Jack. As much as I love The Show it would be nice to see an alternate swing mechanic like a swing stick or something. I like 2K's pull back to "load up" and push forward to swing.

I thought it was directional hitting in this game a la High Heat.

Some great info at OS from the community members who are at the SD studios playing the game. Sounds awesome.

I jumped on the Xbox 360 a few years ago and have had three machines die on me, HD DVD went belly up, and I can't play a decent baseball game on the system.

Looking back I wish I had went with a PS3

A fellow community member over at TPG.net just posted that Bill Abner says the MLB09 demo will be out next week. Anyone heard this?

Another member over at TPG, Knight, who was one of the guys at the SCEA Community day in San Diego, says the dev team is shooting for THIS Tuesday for the demo. He was with the developers for 2 or 3 days so I would say it is a pretty reliable source. Good news.

Knight's exact quote...
They are shooting for this week(Tuesday I believe)
Supposedly there is a bunch of great stuff they are not allowed to talk about. The developers put the "gag order" on several gameplay improvements they plan on speaking of in their next blog. I am anxious to hear about those improvements.

The demo I believe is months old and not indicative of the beta played by Pasta and the other OS guys. Still, it should be pretty nice considering the '08 demo was pretty darn sweet.

Love what I'm reading so far, especially about more realistic extra-base hits, but that hitting sounds like it will be more difficult.

Pared over at OS has some pictures posted from their recent visit to SCEAA's studio. The lighting in this game looks absolutely AMAZING:

do you mind if I ask what tpg.net is? I tried that address but it is obviously not correct as just tpg.net. Always looking for good gaming sites, if that is what it is?

Sorry dude, that was just my abbreviation :) GameSeven got it right (good lookin' out). It is just a small site a bunch of guys from the old High Heat days put together a few years back to stay in contact. I check in there every day. I have some good friends over there.

I was a member at the Dugout. That was a fun site. TPG is kinda like DSP. It is more about the forums than anything else. "The Bleachers" is the most used forum over there. I am Doby12 over there. Diablo25 is my evil alter ego.

I think we've talked about this before. I was TrueCardinalFan over at the Dugout and I definitely remember you. I used to mess around with the tune file quite a bit back then. It was a sad day when coach closed the doors...
