I can't believe that they didn't review the Warner fumble at the end either. His arm was moving forward and he was still touching the ball, just not with a full grip. Lots of bad bad bad officiating in this one. Great game though.
Agree. They gave it a whole 20 seconds and moved on. It sure looked to me like his arm was moving forward. It was certainly questionable enough to review carefully. Ariz. would at least have had one more play. Warner did hang onto it too long though.
All in all it was a GREAT game......especially the last 5 mins. Glad I didn't bet on this one, although I had a feeling Pitt wasn't going to cover.

And that shoestring tackle on Dyson was the greatest play in Super Bowl history, despite Madden's typical hyperbole at halftime ordaining Harrison's interception return with that honor.

Hell of a game. Man, I thought Tyree's catch last year was nuts, but Holmes' winning catch was SICK. Great concentration.
That was do-or-die play for the Giants. Manning barely escaped and threw to a guy who was covered.
In this game, the Cards were rattled after giving up that big gain. Two plays in a row, Holmes got open in the back of the end zone and Rothlisberger had plenty of time.
The Cards DBs were looking at each other. They couldn't figure out the hole in that zone which obviously the Steelers saw.
Somewhere in that sequence, either on the TD catch or the play before where Holmes let the ball go right through his hand but was WIDE OPEN, or maybe the missed tackle that gave them a 40-yard gain, Warner threw his towel down on the sidelines in disgust.
Exciting game but technically very poor execution on so many key plays.

Holmes had three Cardinals within a foot or two of him, so I have no idea what you're talking about. Plus he had to keep both toe tips inbounds as he was in full stretch, something Tyree didn't have to do.

Agree. Choppy and chippy.
Take care,

My 6yr old burst into tears when Fitz took it to the house for the lead, while my 5yr old ran around the room cheering the Cardinals. I told him, just wait, these are the Cardinals, I watched them every week when I was your age and saw them lose time and time again... By the time the niffs had stopped and the tears were dried, the Steelers had the lead again. My sons will probably never forget this one.

How much money did one boy lose and the other win in that swing? Haven't you taught them yet that gambling is what football is all about?

Their allowance for the week, only a five spot, but you would have thought it was for enough money to pay for Christmas.

Whether you think the last play was a fumble or not, the play should of been reviewed. Even if over turned it wouldn't of made a difference, but to not stop the game and look upstairs, that is going to need to be explained by someone.
Games was entertaining so I stand corrected but the officials played too big a part in this game and I don't just mean the last call.

I agree on the review, but at the same time, that play wouldn't have gotten overturned. Warner lost the football before his arm went forward.
The officials played a big part because both teams made a lot of penalties. I agree with PK, the only really bad call was the roughing the passer against Arizona. The others were reasonable.
A great way to cap an unpredictable season. The Cardinals showed a lot of spirit by fighting back, but Fathead Ben was incredible on that last drive. The way he found pockets of space amid the Cardinals pass rush was amazing, and the throw to Holmes on the winning TD was perfect.

Not saying I disagree but the point is I don't understand how you don't review it, especially when the crew made a similar incorrect call earlier forcing the Cards to use a challenge.

Running into the holder was a joke call guy had lost his moment and bumped him. Harrison not being ejected for basically throwing 4 punches at a guy who was down is another bad call. Holding in the end zone, questionable IMO but 90% of holding calls are questionable. The roughing the passer on Ben, a joke.
Again I really don't care who won, but in a season of some of the worst officiating I can recall in my lifetime, it was show cased today in Tampa.

No reviews after the 2 minute warning, but they looked at it upstairs.. Both Madden and Michaels agreed it was a fumble
Michaels is a blowhard for the NFL...He flip flopped on both previous reviews so don't take his word for anything. Michaels A game passed him about 20 years ago.

I hope you are joking about this one. You can't hit the guy.....bottom line. The only way you can run into the holder is if the kick is blocked. The holder is on the ground in a vulnerable position and cannot be "bumped" into. Momentum, accident.....doesn't matter. That's the rule. If that was not called it would have been a joke.
BTW...If we are having a conversation here on whether or not it was a fumble at the end of the game then it needed to be reviewed by the refs on the field. I could care less about who won by the Cards got a raw deal tonight.

Especially when the guy was blocked into the holder.

I thought the no-call on the interception return was a bad one. Hightower was clearly blocked in the back.
The game didn't hold my attention - I can't stand Michaels and Madden, and there are just too many stoppages and ad breaks - but I'm happy for Mike Tomlin. I had a class with him back in College and he seemed like a bright, decent guy.
