Looking very promising fellas;

Biggest concern for me right now is the unstable frame rate mentioned in the preview and slightly noticeable in the trailer.

It was in anticipation of this game that was one of the reasons I purchased an Xbox 360 recently. However, outside of the new tracks, Laguna Seca and Road America, there is not much that seems to be very new if you are already familiar with the GTR, Race series from Simbin. I can get unstable frame rates by playing the PC version of these games. Hopefully they work this out before final release. I wonder how well it works with the MS wheel?

I'll GUARANTEE that RACE 360 is a better racing experience than GT 5, especially if it's even the least bit faithful to the Simbin PC games of the same family.fletcher21 wrote:I'm a much bigger fan of the GT visuals... Looks like I'll spring for a ps3 when it drops.
But if graphics matter most to you in a racing game, then yes, GT 5 probably will be the ticket.
Take care,

I'm all for gameplay over graphics, I'm just hesitant.. The last console racing game I LOVED was Colin Mcrae about 4-5 years back. I hope this game can be a great game, since these days us sim guys are pretty much left out in the cold since people want cars that can do 250mph and jump 100 feet off the top of a parking garage and keep going (Burnout)
What I really want is a good WRC game and a good F1 game.. But my #1 would be a GT looking game with a full field of cars, as well as damage. This game seems to be the only shot we have in the near future, so I'll watch it closely.

Saw in OXM that they gave it a 6.5. Funny. Talked about how insanely realistic it is, and that it will alienate almost everybody who plays it. Apparently if you set it to Semi-Pro, you can't adjust AI difficulty, so you'll destroy the field. If you set it to Pro, you can't use any aids so people just spin out. Sounds like it will probably be a 9 to me

I learned from past mistakes. In less than a year of Forza 2 being released it was marked down to $9.99 at TRU. I purchased THQ's MotoGP 07 and 1 year later I could have bought it for $5 at my local Kmart.
Both of those games I paid $59.99 so this time around i'll patiently wait for the price drop. I'm going to do the same with Forza 3 when it's released but instead i'll wait for the PH version as it'll include all of the DLC on the same disc for free.

I'll have Race 360 at the top of my Gamefly Game-Q a couple of weeks before release, and then if it pans out to be anything like I'm imagining it could be, I'll wait until the "Keep It" price drops below $30. I did that most recently with Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway, and wound up keeping it for $20, for my son.PRBoom wrote:I'm looking forward to it, but will wait for the quick discounted prices.
The OXM review only served to elevate my expectations for Race 360. Their 'cons' were all selling points to me:) They just can't get it in their head that some people might actually want something that is more of a pure simulation. I'd like to see this game become a cult favorite, but it will have to be solid in online multiplayer for that to happen. I'm in a bit of a gaming funk right now and I'm hoping this will help bring me out of it!

Seems as though TXB was quite impressed with their hands on impressions.

Hey, we kinda got a shout out from Brian Ekberg (aka BBReBozo) in this nice article on Race 360:

Check out the article. It sounds like Race 360 is going to be a handful.I've always considered myself a pretty fast virtual driver. Back when I wasn't working the game industry (and, ironically, had time to play games in my free time) I used to run in a league of friends, and could hold my own against pretty much anybody. Without knowing really how or why, I found a way to be fast, whether it was turning laps in TOCA 2, ripping up the terrain in the original Colin McRae Rally games, or burning it up on two wheels in the original MotoGP games from THQ.

Which, sadly, means it will be a commercial failure.DChaps wrote:Check out the article. It sounds like Race 360 is going to be a handful.
Look at the history of console racing sims: The only commercial successes have been those sims that offer extensive tuning and customization options -- Gran Turismo and Forza.
I hope you cats get a tight, regular race group going with this game, as I can already hear the cries of "This game is TOO HARD; why can't I do a custom paint job?" cries from the NFS-Burnout crowd.
Hopefully the niche segment to which this game appeals will be enough to sustain it on XBL for more than a month.
Take care,
PK
