This sucks, I always enjoyed it for bathroom reading material. I think I had like 5 years of free subscriptions left.

Wow...the end of an era. I can remember back in the days before the internet, standing in the supermarket reading EGM to get an early glimpse of the next Madden or the next baseball or hockey game. Used to look forward to it, actually. Then sites like DSP and OS came along and I started caring less and less about the EGMs of the world. It's still a shame.

Hey Feanor,

I too was a massive fan of 1UP Yours (audio podcast) and also the 1Up Show (video podcast) and I'm really bummed they'll be gone. The actual content on 1Up and EGM doesn't bother me as much those 200 word 'reviews' were a waste of paper/time/space/bytes.

With the layoffs I am absolutely amazed that Teanah/Tina Sanchez still kept her 'job' as she's utterly useless - particularly on 1UP FM - I've heard heroin addicts coming down that are more eloquent (and exciting to listen to) than she is.

Also surprised they fired Milky and Shane.

A lot of their reviews were too short to be worth reading, but some reviews I read at 1up were long and well written. But like you, I will mainly miss their podcasts.

On Shane's 1up blog he says he was about to leave anyway to do something exciting, so maybe he'll reveal what that is sometime soon.

that Tina chick stayed b/c she was able to bend over for anything or anyone in the company to keep her job, most people let go we their for awhile, yet this chick stays wtf. thats what happens when a cute chick is working in games, cant get rid of a little TNA b/c they think most people who play games are 12-18 yr old males who will listen to a cute girl, with no exp, or entertaining qualities about games. PS I would nail her just to see if she is as boring as she is on the podcasts :D

Average looking chicks who talk about games is like super model status for most average gamers see G4TV, remember. but its sad that people were let go, who were their alot longer and contributed more than this chick.

Wow, the hater-ade is strong with this one. :)

Actually, Costa, I completely f***in agree and I suspect you're spot on as to the reason why she's there which makes it all the more sad.

PS I too would bang her for 'research' but only after few beers to upgrade her to 'average' status, I suspect I would fall asleep halfway through, however. :)

I think Garnett Lee, John Davidson and Shane Bettenhausen should do a non-Ziff Davis/1Up podcast of their own. Shane makes me laugh (at him), he's the Simpsons 'comic-book collector' of mainstream gaming reviewers.

Did you listen to Retronauts? I usually really enjoyed it even for shows about games that I never played.

You know I just very recently started listening to it and enjoyed it quite a bit - again, bummed that it's ending. Much better than 1UP FM *ack* - though I still skimmed through FM to listen to the 'Backlog' section.

I listened to most of the Backlog segments even though they were all games I never played or had only watched other people play. It was cool to kind of experience a classic game like Shadow of the Colussus without having to sink the hours in to actually playing it.

I get to listen to podcasts most of the time at work so I listen to quite a lot of them, especially since Kidd Chris got taken off the radio. Other gaming podcasts I like are:

Giant Bombcast
Gamespot Hotspot
CAGcast (Cheap Ass Gamer)
Uncle Gamer Radio
PC Gamer podcast

EGM...

Over the years, HUNDREDS of Dollars(maybe not hundreds, but too much) spent just to see some damn SCREENSHOTS! Thank you Internet!
