You need a mid range system, nothing to fancy. I have an older Core 2 Duo E6750 CPU and a (over 2 years old) Nvidia 7900 GTO video card and it runs great.

Thanks...I have a new vista machine but it has onboard video...that will probably kill it for me.

It probably will but if it's a desktop you can add a video card.

Picked this up courtesy of Mr. Claus. Won't be re-united with the 360 till Sunday, so looking forward to checking it out. The demo and Macca's review suggest that it'll only be a slight improvement on PES 6/WE/PES 2007 (i.e. considerably better than PES 2008). As a non-online player, that'll have to do for now, I guess. Seems that Seabass and Co. are struggling to take this onto another level. BTW, cool review as usual Macca (Santa should probably have taken your advice and opted for FIFA 09 this year - swayed by force of habit and advancing years, I guess).
Take care

I'm absolutely loving the PC version after the community mods thanks to Squid. This game is so much better than FIFA 09 PC. :)

I wish I knew how to add a stadium though. I would love to add Celtic Park. The only knock on the game is that it's locked in to 19 stadiums maxed unless some modders have missed something.

they've always been locked in past versions. Modders have made a Stadiumserver to get around that for past ones.

Alright...what is the final verdict on the 360 version? I have Fifa 09 and have completed one season in BAP mode...I had fun with it for sure but I just get frustrated with the control and responsiveness sometimes and the shooting model just doesn't seem good especially on long range shots. Is anybody enjoying the 360 version of PES2009?

On the 360 it appears FIFA 09 is the better game, more sim like. On the PC it's no contest as PES 2009 is all around the much better game.

Is it out yet and how does it compare to the Gaming Access Community patch?

You've probably done this already but just in case you haven't, check out Macca's review for the PS3 version in the reviews section here at DSP. By all accounts, the 360 version is identical in terms of gameplay (controller preferences, editing and online options aside). Take Care

I've used the Evolution one the last 3 years, however, I find the Gaming Access one to be miles easier to install.

The one thing I like about the GA patch is that if you want you can still play PES 2009 unpatched by clicking on the PES 2009 icon. :)

GA Community Patch 2.5 this week!!!

This week the most impressive update to the GA Community patch will be released!!! With all new stadiums (and the lighting problem fixed), and of course, with the stadiums selected by the community. The GamingAccess Community Patch 2.5 will feature
* EASY INSTALLATION - ALL IN ONE (includes 2.0 and 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, 2.4 updates)
* UPDATE - released as a single update for people currently playing 2.4

This update is going to be HUGE, so keep visiting us. We hope to release the patch by Friday, but hey, anything can happen in the wonderful world of the GamingAccess Community!!!

***Rumor is they want to include a utility to install and uninstall stadiums***

Also Celtic Park is suppose to be in patch 2.5

I just saw that and thought of you. They are giving the author of the Macarana one last chance to make his look nice but if he doesn't, they are dropping it for Celtic Park.

I seem to have the minority opinion this year in terms of football games. I actually liked FIFA 08 more than 09. The control and shooting in 09 is lacking. PES 2009, on the other hand, has very responsive controls and feels more like football to me than FIFA 09. This is my favorite iteration of PES in many years. The Legend mode hooked me in a big way, and the Master League is fun as always. I also like the way in which PES 2009 more authentically replicates player-specific celebrations and overall appearance of star players. In terms of gameplay PES 2009 is wonderful. Teams have great variety in tactics. Each match seems fresh, which is much more than I can say about FIFA 09. So, if I were to give a final verdict it would be two big thumbs up for PES 2009.

I can't speak for the 360 version of PES 2009 but I must say PES 2009 on the PC with the GA mods make this an awesome football game.

Not sure how many of you blokes tried PES 2008 on the Wii, but it was truly a magnificent game. I've been looking at screenshots and information about PES 2009 and it looks like it will be even better than last year's game on the Wii. The graphics actually look very nice. The controls look to be somewhat similar to those from 2008, but with some improved tweaks. I will be all over this game when it comes out.

PES 2008 for Wii was my favorite game last year. What have you seen about 2009 and where did you find it? It comes out in March, right?

There are some new screenshots at IGN that show gameplay, player models, controls, and menus:

http://media.wii.ign.com/media/829/829716/imgs_1.html

There was also a blurb at IGN in its most anticipated games of 09 feature

"The philosophy of "good things are worth waiting for" rings so very true with the 2009 release of Pro Evolution Soccer. All the other consoles have it already, but Wii gamers are left waiting after an amazing 2008 offering on the system. Last year's controls changed the world of soccer forever in our eyes, and this year promises even more, now hitting the system with online play, co-op classic controller and IR modes (intertwined), and refined defense with the cursor. Passing via pointer and dragging the team's AI remains to be the number one aspect of Pro Evo that set it apart from FIFA last year, and it again is looking to do the same for 2009. Pro Evo simply gets what Wii is all about, and it'll remain one of the top sports games on the system as long as it keeps the unique controls design options in mind."

From Wikipedia:

"Building on the control system of its predecessor, PES 2009 expands on the basic concept of players controlling both the player with the ball and those around them.

PES 2009 for Nintendo Wii will feature a number of key additions, with an enhanced shooting system offering more control. The development team has also reworked the defensive elements of the game, with more control over defenders and more ways to close down attacking threats. A new AI system has also been implemented and results in more sophisticated and intuitive movement from team mates according to the player's commands.

The Wii version is due for release on 31 March 2009."

If you google pes 2009 Wii you can find some videos and places with info sheets about the game.

From what I can tell they have taken 2008 and made a lot of improvements on it, which is just fine with me since 2008 was already a great game.

That looks great! Refining the defense and giving the player some shot control were the two biggest needs; co-op is just gravy, as far as I'm concerned.

Thanks!

No problem. Despite there being a lot of shovelware on the Wii, there are still some gems such as Tiger Woods, Ferrari Challenge, and PES on the Wii for sports fans. PES 2009 will be a strong game it appears.
