Fair enough scoop. :)

Agreed with you assessment of GH3 on hard and Reign in Blood. Here I was 4 and mostly 5 starring every song prior on Hard and then BAM! Couldn't pass it. where's the balance in that?

GH:WT does do it better. Like you said though, RB nails it! If I could have just one for solo guitar play, RB gets the vote.

I also played both and they are really apples and oranges. Bass is more about the pulsating rhythym, where guitar is all encompassing. It's easy to be adequate on bass (if you have good rhythym) but very hard to excel at it. I love bands where the bass is very noticeable (like Rush) and dislike when it is buried deep in the mix. Bass also takes a lot more finger strength, since the strings are way thicker and the frets spaced out more.

I agree. I play guitar and am quite proficient. I can play very basic bass parts but there is a certain finesse that I don't have.

Didn't see it mentioned anywhere, but Pearl Jam's Ten album will be available in March.

The usual reasons upon which release dates are chosen...
The release is obviously timed to help market the re-release of the album itself, also due for March 2009,

Didn't know that.. I've played that album so much since its release years ago.

Just wish they would release it much sooner on RB 2. :(

Hey all,

I received Rock Band for Wii as a Christmas gift. Before I pop it open (which will be a while because my four year old still hasn't opened all her gifts) Is there any difference between the Wii version and XBOX360? I have a 360 so I just wonder if there's any advantage to one system over the other.

Thanks!

I don't believe the Wii has DLC, which is huge imho...

Well tonight I had my first experience with one of this music instrument games.

Played GH:WT at my gf's cousin house and I had a ton of fun.

My girl and I ended up singing Living on a Prayer and Beat it... she wants to buy the damn thing tomorrow lol. I'm basically interested in drums and singing, my girl just wants to sing.

Now, I want to compare the song list with RB 2 list because a lot of the ones in GH didn't interest us at all.

Hope to be rocking this weekend with one of the 2 games. :P

I've got a doozie of a rock band story.

I brought my PS3 and rock band 2 set over to my dad's place for xmas day. Finally a chance to play it with a full band. One of my step brother's and his wife were very enthusiastic about it so we set it up and start playing. They were doing the guitar/bass thing and I was on drums. Since couches are uncomfortable for drumming I sat on the coffee table.

The coffee table is a small round wooden frame (thick wood on the edge to sit on) and glass in the middle. About midway through Oasis' Wonderwall (there choice, not mine) I fall through the glass. I got some scrapes and minor cuts on my back and my hand gets a little sliced. I go to the ER just to make sure it doesn't need stitches. They just glued it shut and i went home.

Needless to say it could have been a lot worse, like a big piece of glass in my back, for example. Anyway, I was fine and we eventually got to playing the game again and everyone was really into it. Was a lot of fun. This time I used a chair for the drumming ;-)

Hilarious story, especially how you kept playing when you got home from the ER (and that you didn't get seriously hurt).

I picked up the ACDC track pack for my friend's kids. They recently got RB and they (kids and Dad :)) love ACDC. I was tempted to get it myself but held off. Some how I think I'll be getting it soon.

Guys, I'm doing some research about both games instruments kits.

I'm leaning towards getting Rock Band 2, but it seems like GH hardware is better.

I only have played with GH:WT hardware and felt it was quite ok. I haven't played Rock Band but I like it's music list more.

Have any of you guys used WT kit with Rock Band 2?

Is there any truth that WT instrument kit is better?

I like the GH guitar controller a lot better than the RB one. IMO, the strum bar on the GH controller is much better than the one on RB. As far as the drums, I haven't had a chance to use the GH ones, but the RB ones are pretty good.

In my experience the Guitar Hero WT drum kit is the best...RB2 Guitars are the best. It all depends on what is most important to you. RB2, the game, is better too. Hence the reason I went RB2 and I purchased the GHWT game separately.

Yup. I use my RB2 instruments with GHWT. The only reason I know I like the drum set better in GHWT is because a buddy of mine has it.

For what its worth, if you want to drum in both games with ONE SET get the Rock Band set. THe GHWT set does not "feel" right in RB. The reason being is that the blue CYMBAL of GHWT is RARELY used as a cymbal in RB and is mainly a tom and it just doesn't bode well for that game.

It works but it ruined the experience for me and never felt right and always messed me up. The RB drums work GREAT in both games and they are mapped right in GHWT as they just go down to 4 pads and bass pedal.

Ahhh...I didn't know that Seminole...I have only tried to use my RB2 drums with GHWT, not the other way around. The only time I played the GHWT drums was WITH GHWT itself. So that's good to know for the rest of you out there are curious about instrument compatibility.
