Bears picked a great time to play their worst football, the day the Packers played their best. At least the Vikings blew it against the Bucs to keep it a three-way tie in the crap-o-licious NFC North.

The Bengals and Eagles both look like they wished they could call in sick today.

Somehow the Dolphins were able to grab victory from the jaws of defeat.

Rams play an incredible half of football.

How can you possibly be down 35-3 to the 30th best team in the NFL?

Easy.....

Be the 57th best team out of 32.

Every week I hate instant replay more and more.

I watched the end of the steelers game sunday... then when Berman wrapped up the NFL in 3 minutes he said the score was 11-10 - I told my wife he was wrong, the score was 17-10....

Then I looked it up and the stupid NFL Officials took 6 points off the board for the steelers for an illegal forward pass which the steelers should have been able to decline. It makes NO sense - then look at the penalties in the game going mostly AGAINST Pitt. They were 2-5 vs 13-110???

Then the spread of the game was 5.5 which the steelers were giving.

I don't like the way that smells.

The fact that there WASN'T a forward pass is the real travesty. I heard 66 million was bet on the Steelers covering...apparently the NFL had the Chargers.

47-yard field goal attempt. WIDE RIGHT. Bills lose. F*ck me.

Will the nightmare ever end?

I just realized something tonight: Every team that I support SUCKS right now. The Oilers. The Bills. Syracuse University football. Newcastle United. Subaru World Rally. Williams F1. They all suck -- it might be a first for as long as I've been a sports' fan.

Take care,
PK

What's really sad is that you're looking UP at the Dolphins...as improved as they are, they still aren't a VERY good football team yet.

Nobody is very good in the AFC East, honestly. Maybe the Jets, but I'm not convinced.

The AFC East is resembling the old NFC Central -- the Norris Division of football, as Chris Berman says.

But last night's loss was a season-turning killer.

Speaking of your 'Phins, do you and fellow Dolphins' fans know the background behind the Wildcat formation and why it's called the Wildcat? It's odd: I've barely seen this reported anywhere this season.

Steve Bush joined the Dolphins as Offensive Quality Control coach this season and implemented the Wildcat. He came to the Dolphins from West Genesee High School here in Syracuse, one district away from me. West Genny won the N.Y. state Class AA (largest school) title last season.

While at West Genny, Bush used the Wildcat formation with great success.

And why is the formation called the Wildcat? Because West Genesee's school mascot name is the Wildcats.

So all you Dolphins' fans can thank a big high school in the western suburbs of Syracuse, N.Y., for your groovy offensive look and its name. :)

And now, you have the rest of the story ...

Good day,
Paul Harvey

Heck, consider yourself fortunate it's taken this long for you to experience this phenomenon (all your teams sucking at the same time). It's been a pretty common occurrence for us Cleveland fans over the last forty years. And once LeBron bolts in a couple years it's gonna be "Return to Loserville".

Yeah, I read that story a few times in the Miami papers...they certainly don't publicize it nationally for some reason. The Dolphins started running it because one of their consultants on offense was at Arkansas when McFadden and Felix Jones were running it...so a lot of things had to come together to have someone actually design a few plays besides the direct snap draw.

What's really surprising is that it's still fairly effective. Sure, it was REALLY effective the first time they broke it out, but you'd think it would be easy to stop, but it's not. Being able to block 1 on 1 is a HUGE deal in the NFL apparently.

100 bucks says it doesn't even make it in. That would F with all of their player rankings and all sorts of stuff.

Something tells me if they even DID implement it, they wouldn't do it right since it requires the LT to move to the right side to create an unbalanced line. I doubt the Madden engine will be able to comprehend players moving positions...the sim engine will likely catch fire.

The NFL Network has got to have the worst coverage available. I'm watching the Thurs Night game on my PC while listening to the Steelers broadcast via field pass.

The 3 man man studio crew has been yapping for over 4 series of play, going over highlight films between the two teams. It's like the actual game is their commercial. Utterly useless.

Good thing it's free or i'd ask for my money back.

Thursday night NFL football has to go. Saturday non-playoff games do to. Play on Sunday and on Monday night and leave it at that, the way God intended (Hochuli 7:14-10).

Even with the NFL Network's limited distribution on the lower tier cable packages, it probably drew better ratings than the NBA, NHL and college games which were on last night.

I think the only nationally-televised games in the other sports were the NBA games on TNT, including Lakers-Suns.

Looks like the NFL will try to cultivate the NFLN, in case the day comes that the TV networks decide not to ante up.

The Dolphins thought today's game was only 45 min. apparently since they played pretty good for three quarters. It's just too bad their D was so horrible. Cassell just shredded them. Payback is a b*tch I guess.

This Cassell story is simply amazing. Dude doesn't start an game in his entire college career, gets drafted, makes the cut, never plays for the first couple years, Brady goes down, the guy comes in and looks pretty good - AND it's a CONTRACT year for him. If Brady stays healthy, it's likely the Pats would just re-sign him at the league min (if sign him at all). Now he's in for a real nice payday(from someone).

Hope u Ram fans like him, I have visions of him in STL next year...

Most QB's would look good throwing to Moss, Welker and Gaffney. ;) My 10 cents says he stays in NE. There's no telling how Brady's knee will be when next season rolls around.

Only way he stays in NE is if he's willing to take a lot less than other teams will certainly offer him.

NE can't franchise him because the franchise number is $14 million.

Actually, the guy who needs to get a big payday is whoever coached Brady and Cassell. Well maybe they're not the same guy any longer.
