The question is what port is it based on? Is it 2K7, 2K8 or 2K9. My suspicion is it's probably either 2K7 or 2K8 because Visual Concepts will throw it's development cost at a known commodity which is the PS360 first and the PC second.
Also the fact the game is being sold at $19.99 tells me it's probably based on a previous version. I hope i'm wrong. I've been checking for reviews but nothing as of yet.

Wow, i had no idea. It's about time. I hope they put NHL on the PC someday.

Fellas...after watching the videos, I have come to a conclusion....the gameplay may be ported from nba 2k8. why you may ask, did I come up with this assumption? because if you notice from the video, there is not as much off-the-ball team movement...players tend to 'stand' around with less off the ball pick and rolls, etc...i hope i'm wrong, but i guess we'll have to see in a few days...

Played one game last night and really was surprised at how good it was.
Played on default "Pro" and shooting percentages were high...about .700 each, but I assume that will come down when I jump to "Allstar". The crowd is great, but it is a bit overdone IMO. They sound like it's game 7 of the Finals every game. I guess I can just turn down the crowd volume a little.
Gameplay was pretty solid. All the cameras seem very close up compared to the 360 version. I settled on the Nosebleed camera zoomed way out. Most of the cameras are too close to give you a view of all your teammates as you cross mid court. One issue I had was with the turbo/speed button. I wish there was a slider for this because the turbo is way too much. It's almost like the players immediately double their speed when you press turbo and its too easy to catch up to the AI when they try and fast break on you. I couldn't find any sliders for turbo, but if someone finds one please let me know. An option is to just not use it, but that's tough to resist.
I played using my Logitech Dual Analog controller and the stick doesn't have that "spring back" when shooting, that the 360 controller has. I might have to get a wireless usb connector for so I can use my 360 controller with my PC. That would make the game more enjoyable.
All in all, it's a GREAT value for $19.99 if you have a decent PC to run the game. I have to dial back some graphic settings to get it smooth, but it's not so bad and the game looks gorgeous with the visual settings maxed out.
One major annoyance is that you have to install "Steam" and run the game thru the Steam interface. If anyone knows a work-around for this please share.
More impressions later, but for now I am stuck choosing between 2K09 (PC) and NBA Live09 (360) and it's going to be a battle!

Hell, Rodster and I are about the only other PC sports gamers in here. I can't speak for Rod, but I'm not interested in the NBA or NBA games.JackB1 wrote:Nobody else has tried this yet?

Anyone else try this yet? I am real curious what others think about it. I wish I knew how it compares to the 360 game? I am having a tough time deciding between this and Live. I like the flow of the game better in Live. In 2K, the overall speed of everything seems inconsistent. The turbo button almost doubles a players speed and the speed of the shooting animations doesn't seem to match the overall gameplay speed.
That said, I would imagine the PC mod community will do some great things for NBA2K9 and I am curious to follow this development. I am also curious how the NBA360 DNA thing will work for Live.

I don't have the PC version but I am so pissed at this game right now. I usually play as the Clippers (yuk yuk, yeah yeah) and I am being consistently destroyed when it comes to grabbing rebounds. I haven't adjusted any settings and I usually just stick to the PG or SG position when I'm on the court and let the cpu handle the boards. Over the summer the Clippers signed Marcus Camby, one of the elite rebounders in the NBA and together with Chris Kamen this is a team that should be at the very very minimum collecting missed shots at the same rate as the other team. Unfortunately this isn't happening at all AND I'm barely getting half as many rebounds at the end of the game. Not mention the computer seems to be draining threes left and right without any conceivable way of getting them to miss their shots. Nothing I'm doing (including adjusting the in-game sliders, and boosting the rebounding option during TOs) is working.
Sorry to rant in the PC thread but this is frustrating the heck outta me:)

Are you sure you are loading your adjusted sliders? I have read in the OS Forums that the sliders really do work.macsomjrr wrote:I don't have the PC version but I am so pissed at this game right now. The sliders work great...
The only thing I've done is reduced the shot blocking for both human and cpu and moved the shot sliders down to around 42 or 43 for both sides. 9 minute quarters and All-Star level. The game is f'n awesome.
I have the PC version...it's pretty much the same as the 360 version. I just got it to run on the new laptop I'm getting next week...so we'll see how that goes. It's pretty graphic intensive.

Does anyone know what is a average shooting percentage for the NBA?dbdynsty25 wrote:The sliders work great...

Around 50%? What about for 3's? Around 35%?
Edit:
I checked NBA.com and found some avgs to use for comparison.
I am playing 8 minute qtrs, so my numbers (not the perc's) should be a little lower, but if you get anything near these with your sliders, that would be great.
shooting% 45%
3pt% 36%
blocks 5
steals 7
turnovers 14
def reb 30
off reb 11
free throw 76%
free throw attempts 25
I can confirm the sliders do work. I reduced shot sliders and shot blocking sliders and also had to max almost all the foul sliders in order to get realistic foul numbers.
I agree the game is awesome and if you have a decent rig, looks great and is a steal at $20. The crowd is the best I have ever seen in a sports video game ever.

See the edit in my last post. I did a little research (shocking..I know) and found some avg's we can use for comparison. I am getting pretty good numbers already with minimal slider adj's. I just want to lower shooting perc's a little more.dbdynsty25 wrote:The worst teams shoot in the low 40's for regular shots and the best in mid 50's. For threes...it's low 30's and low 40's.
Also....anyone have trouble with the "spin" button sometimes not working?
