Turning just the penalty slider all the way up does NOT = more penalties.

Maybe EA will fix it with a patch.

I know a lot of my OTP friends aregoing to jettison this game now that FIFA has arrived, but as for myself, I really love it in the OTP. However, it must be said that the glitch goal threatens to be a real game killer.

I've had so many great, great games where the glitch goal wasn't a factor, but those games where a specialist reels off four or five glitch goals in a game are just shitty. (actually, there are at least a couple glitch goals, since the 07-08 wrap around glither is still in there.)

Thebiggest issue is how because of the glitcher, many good goals feel suspect now. It will only get worse, too, unless EA pits out a patch that convincingly neuters the glitch goal while still allowing good goals to come off of a little bit of nifty stick work near the slot. It's a tall order, but they need to try.

Regular OTP with fatigue and line changes and the 'any' are amazingly fun, and the Party system that is Club play is so great when it works. But the glitch goal may end up being the cancer that kills this thing even for me, especially if FIFA actually works online and doesn't show any of its own glitchy goals. And that would really be too bad.

FIX THE GLITCH GOAL!

What is the glitch goal?

I'm not seeing nearly as many of the deke goals as last year.

They also slowed down the shot too.

I intend to keep going with NHL. I just like the NHL series better than the FIFA series right now and that is real decider to which game I play the most.

See a number of European players in the PS3 lobbies (with Euro flags by their screen names).

But the pings are red or orange so gameplay would probably be dicey, especially in OTP games.

Must be more Euro players in FIFA.

My game did this a couple of weeks ago, every game mode in NHL would give a dirty disc error and send me back to the dashboard, clearing the cache fixed it for me.

Awesome, I tried it and it worked for me too. Thanks ! :D
I swapped it out this morning for another copy of NHL 09 and after playing a game I got the DDE again.

Is my 360 going bad already? I just got it 3 weeks ago, a new 60GB model.

Do you get any errors with other games? Like I said I haven't had any problems with my copy since I cleared my cache, I also thought my drive was going bad with it being close to a year old but other games worked fine so I knew it was definitely a problem only with NHL. There is supposed to be a patch sometime to fix the disc read errors but who knows when that will be out.

I'll be playing this game until next years version is out, hopefully enough people are still around a few times a week to get league games in because it's very fun when it does work right and we're not playing a team exploiting the glitch goal.

Wait a minute so EA knows about the disk read errors and there's a fix in the works? Damn

Yeah I tried other games, actually two and had no issues. I cleared out the cache after my replacement disc and I was able to get finish a game.

Todd,

Someone at OS said the rooks are rated well, but the lines are rather messed up. Do you have knowledge of what they should be?

I checked the Blue site a couple hours ago, so I got the depth chart then. Already played three games. I'm 1-2 and I'm loving every minute thus far.

Didn't see the game. I'm guessing the Blues won?

Anyways, I'm playing on Pro with game speed down one. Gonna go at my own pace for a while. If it starts getting easier, I'll bump up to the next level. As of right now, it's perfect for my skill level.

Yes, they won in a shootout, 4-3 with Oshie netting the winner!

I like Pro too.. I have a great variety of scores, I just wish there were more penalties called.

Oh, I picked the bright colour to accenuate the snazzy retro jersey night at GM place. ;)

Well, you can take solace in the real Nucks beating the Oil tonight...... :P

BTW, has anyone heard anything about a patch lately? There was hints of one a while back, but I haven't heard anything since.

I'll pose my question of a few months ago since the PC version is out. Can I person like me who knows little about the sport enjoy this game? I played it a bunch back in my youth because of the past pace, etc.

I definitely think so. In fact, it might even help your enjoyment, since you won't be so focussed on sim-related issues that could distract from the pure fun.

Ultimately, the controls will win you over. Everything is just so responsive that even if you've never dreamed about scoring an OT winner in game 7 of the Stanley Cup final, you'll really love that feeling of netting a goal when you've executed a wicked slapshot.

The pace is pretty fast like you remember it, and unlike the NHL 93, you'll even get enjoyment out of simply skating around - it's that smooth.

I would pick it up and start an International tournament. You'll like playing on the bigger ice surface. More open space, lots of room to create. Enjoy!

I finally reached Superstar status in BAP online (whew, 105 games). I barely qualified with my stats, my teamwork is just no good (hoving C+/B-). So I have 50 games to get to Legend, any tips on how to get my teamwork grade up?

Play as a defensemen and make safe passes.

At forward I'm not sure I've ever gotten above a B- in online OTP for team play. I've only played a few games at defense but for all those grades my team play grades ranged from B+ to A.
