2008 NFL Season

Got back from Charlotte last night. Very frustrating Bears game. They completely dominated until the last 20 minutes of the game.

I usually hate to blame one player for a loss, but Olsen cost them the game. They would have likely gotten at least a FG when he had the first fumble (they had the Panthers D on their heels) and then the other was in Bear territory. He doesn't fumble, they win the game, end of story. The worst was that the second one got the crowd back in the game -- that place was a mausoleum after the Bears went up 17-3.

The penalties were the second biggest culprit. Two holding plays on big Forte runs just killed their momentum on a couple of drives. Turner's playcalling at the end was ass (the WR screen was just terrible) but overall the offense moved the ball, it just shot itself in the foot with the turnovers and penalties.

The D played well but got tired. It was really hot (90+) and they got left on the field too long. They pursued Stewart pretty well but couldn't bring him down on first contact. That was all fatigue.

The good thing is, before the season, I would have thought the NFC North title was out of the question. Now I think they have an actual shot as long as they keep the running game going.

After reeling in what he thought to be a 61-yard scoring strike from Donovan McNabb in the second quarter, Jackson let the ball go before he crossed the goal line.“I felt when I caught the ball, it was a deep pass and thought I was in the end zone,” Jackson said. “But I learned from that and just keep going. ^yeah that was the dumbest thing I've seen in the NFL since Leon Lett going after the blocked fg on Thanksgiving against the Dolphins or the showboating against the Bills in the super Bowl when Don Beebe knocked the ball out of his hands. they say that Jackson is a real knucklehead.

He was a great player in college regardless.

I didn't think he would have much impact in the NFL as a WR, because as explosive as he is, he's real small, kind of like Dante Hall. So far, he's done more from scrimmage than on returns.

We'll see if he holds up to the pounding.

But if nothing else, he may open up the vertical passing game for the Eagles, which they haven't had in several years.

With their next two games against Oakland and the Jets, the Bills could be 4-0 heading into October!

And considering the Bills will play Arizona on Oct. 5 before their bye week, 5-0 isn't out of the question, man!

But I'll be happy with 3-0 this weekend against the Raiders. Frau and I are going to the game with friends. Can't wait.

Might want to re-check that schedule Pk. You don't have to worry about the Jets as you have the lowly Rams on 9/28. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Cardinals beat the Bills though.

Correct you are, Dan! Freudian slip -- I was thinking of the first game against the Jets when I was typing that, honestly!

After the bye, the Bills have a four-game stretch with games against San Diego, Miami, the Jets and New England. A pivotal midseason stretch.

I wish you were right. The Dolphins look like they have already mailed it in this year...and they are just going through the paces. They look worse than they did last year...and they were lucky to get that one game last year.

Come on, now: ESPN said during the preseason that the Dolphins would be better just by virtue of St. Tuna's presence, and we all know that the Worldwide Leader is never wrong, man.

It's also the same network (along with NBC) who had the brilliant idea of putting the Browns on in primetime FIVE times this year. I bet there's a few network execs banging their heads on the table over that decision right now.
