Most of Obama's contributions are from individuals.

McCain has way more lobbyist ties. Don't even try to lie about that fact.

Are you that dense?

Obama, Barack S IL D $126,349 $6,000 $120,349

McCain, John S AZ R $21,550 $0 $21,550

McCain received 1/6th of what Obama did. Hello?!
Hey Gomer, learn to read, I wasn't referring to Varak's numbers.

McCain says today that the "fundamentals" of the economy are "strong."

Palin addresses the financial turmoil of the day:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oPgDZMBC2DY

Pay attention from about 2:00 to 2:20.

She'd make John Edwards proud.

Of course, it's just empty promises. Lot of Republicans are talking about regulation these days.

But after the election, will they so easily drop their decades-old laissez-faire-at-all-costs ideology?

I get your passion. I admire it. You give a $hit. That's more than I can say for a lot of Americans. But sometmes that passion doesn't translate well in your posts. Like I said man. I know your heart's in the right place and you mean well. Lucky for me I get PM's schooling me up on when to calm down and think it out a bit before I post. As a friend I am doing the same for you. Don't take offense, because none is intended.

Now with that being said,I am gonig to be waiting for your next post so I can rip into it.
Thanks Jack. You're a good dude and I truly took your advice to heart without any offense taken as well. I often let my "passion" override my brain and that is the problem. Call me the "Joe Biden of DSP" :) I think I will sit on the sidelines and just observe for a while. I don't want to lash out at anyone here for insulting me and respect this forum too much to ruin things for me or anyone else. I will continue to read this stuff with great interest, but will respond with a "filtered pen". I know we've been through this before, but this election got me going again and I should know better. Thanks for understanding.

I don't lie about anything, shithead. And I don't appreciate you suggesting that I would.

"Lobbyist ties" in and of themself are representative of sweet f--- all. Obama has gone out of his way to caricature McCain as somehow dishonest or craven because of the fact that he gets money from lobbyists like every other member of Congress...including Obama.

Right.

Cuz while you cast aspersions on Obama, the guy you support has been lying left and right.

And you repeat the fact-challenged shlt from McCain over and over.

You lie with dogs, you're a lying cur.

He posted a different link...helpful in its own right as it contains the top Nader donors. Surely a better list of companies to steer clear of has never been published :)
Okay, I missed that. If that's what you were intending, wco...then you have my apologies, man.
Here you go, bonehead, since you don't take the time to actually read. I did. Here's what I read:
Barack Obama
Goldman Sachs $691,930
University of California $611,207
Citigroup Inc $448,599
JPMorgan Chase & Co $442,919
Harvard University $435,769

John McCain
Merrill Lynch $298,413
Citigroup Inc $269,251
Morgan Stanley $233,272
Goldman Sachs $208,395
JPMorgan Chase & Co $179,975

Totals from this list:

Obama=$2,630,424
McCain=$1,189,306

Then you rounded out simple facts with your usual uninformed slant:
you wrote:Despite being out-fundraised over 2 to 1, McCain has gotten about the same amount of money from them.
Simply put, the facts you laid out don't support your unfounded assertions (shocking, I know). So you make a sweeping generalization so as to put spin on the facts, trying to make McCain look more like Obama. But the facts you presented do not do this. In any way. No spin can change that. But you try.

I shouldn't be surprised though...it's what you do.

Financial services industry donations, dipshit.
wco81 wrote:GOP has had a hard-on for Fannie and Freddie Mac for years. The execs at those companies have run them poorly but they've not been accused of any criminality.

Right now, the financial services industry as a whole is suspect. They engaged in reckless practices and now, the whole financial system is in a lot of trouble.

However, they have deep connections to Washington. Even the "maverick" is getting a lot of money from them:

http://www.opensecrets.org/pres08/contr ... cycle=2008

Despite being out-fundraised over 2 to 1, McCain has gotten about the same amount of money from them.

How did you arrive at that? According to this link Obama is way ahead.
http://www.opensecrets.org/pres08/secto ... cycle=2008

Finance, Insurance & Real Estate
Barack Obama $24,860,257
John McCain $22,108,926
Ralph Nader $46,696
Bob Barr $19,396
Cynthia McKinney $3,450

Yeah I know, facts make your head hurt. Screw facts, you want the guy who deals the least with them.

Nah man, thank you. I am going to do the same man. Hell we both know who we're voting for and why. All this bickering ain't gonna change it. Let's just hope whoever get's the nod does 1/4 of what they promise. That will be a good start.

Well it took 5600 posts to finally demonstrate that you're not a f***in automaton, but better late than never.

Wrapped in your cocoon of self-righteousness and hubris you'll probably see my aggravation as a badge of honor. The reality is that until now I've just never come across someone with the proper mix of arrogance, ignorance and foolishness.

I take great satisfaction from the fact that I don't have to deal with you personally. And trust me, that fact is doing you an enormous favor as well.

This thread is getting hilarious.

So here is some good funny...but first I have to get my partisan shots in.... Obama is going to win against the RepubliSTUPIDS and DemoSMARTS are the best team in town. Palin is stupid and McCain is OLD!!!!

But seriously, this video is funny.

"For the past eight years anti-bush merchandise has been the most stable sector in our economy."

You know what's real funny about this? I read the link you provided WCO. A little further down the page from your "selected facts" is this one:

Lawyers & Lobbyists
Barack Obama $24,279,665
John McCain $8,801,162
Ralph Nader $29,405
Bob Barr $5,050
Cynthia McKinney $700

And before you say "but this also includes lawyers", your item also includes Insurance and Real Estate, not just Finance.
