We are 0-3 so far in my AHL debut. I have one measly assist... but oh is this mode a ton of fun. I might be up until about 3am tonight.

There's pond hockey in NHL09??? I thought this was only in NHL2K9?

See what happens when you got both games? So many fun modes, you're losing track. It's 2K9, lots of fun.

I love BAP mode, and it's about the only way I want to play online, as well. The EASHL stuff is brilliant, as trying simple OTP left me bored out of my mind.

Got my created Sniper RW player moved up from 3rd to the 2nd and 1st lines of my AHL team, and then got called up to the Anaheim Ducks' 3rd line after about 20 games. The players are faster, the passes are crisper, and I find myself sitting on the bench more (not calling for my own line change with the B button) because Getzlaf's line does far more damage than mine.

It's pretty crazy how long it takes to get enough xp to move up your stats at all, but considering how long NHL seasons are, it makes sense. Getting 24xp or something on offense and needing 250 to make my slap shot more accurate is a lot of game time to improve ONE POINT.

It's awesome that the games are lightning fast, and I can just play my role. The mode is the best, period.

I'm still a bit confused about how BAP works. I'd love some clarification from the guys that have figured this out...

- Can I take my BAP player on-line for pick-up games and continue to gain skill points. (I don't think so)

- Is my on-line BAP player the same for OTP and Club play? In other words, does my on-line BAP player gain the same points from Quick-Play OTP matches as well as Club play? Does it matter if the matches are ranked or not?

Thanks!

Your online BAP and offline BAP characters are completely different. You seem to earn "points" online, and 1 point=1 attribute increase. You play far fewer games online to increase stats than you do offline, since you might only get 17 to 25xp per game offline.

As far as OTP, I have no idea. The only OTP game I've played so far had me as NHL players, not my own character. I've only been able to play as "my" character in the EASHL games with my teammates.

As a general rule, that appears to be correct. However, it would have cost me 3 pts to move up a single pt in speed so there might be a graduated scale based either on the attribute or current value thereof, perhaps influenced by your skater type (I am an Offensive D-man).

Broke down and got this.
How cool is be a pro, realy fun stuff what other sport can you just slam beer while your on the bench between shifts, not going to be good for my health this game.
There are 2 things in this world where you need to drink beer. Darts between throws and now be a pro.

In BAP do you guys play authentic mode (benched when not on the ice).

And how many minutes you do play?

I wish there was a Madden sim or accelerated clock while I'm watching the action.

I started out playing authentic mode on thursday night and then switched to lock mode last night. I've got 4 goals and a helper in 6 games and lead the peoria riverman in scoring and i've moved up to the 2nd pairing on defense. I should point out though that my plus/minus is at -4 ! I'm playing 5 minute periods. BAP is definitely something special...I don't know when the last time I completed a full season was but I know I will this year.

BAP authentic all the way, All-Star level, and 7-min periods.

I've been messing around with different positions for my BAP players, starting over each time, but I think I've settled on Power Forward... Here's a video showing the final goal of my first BAP Hat Trick. I love this game...

I play Authentic on 7 minutes.

I have 13 goals and 9 assists in 12 games with the Ducks, and I've been moved up to the first line with Getzlaf. Talk about amazing. I am racking up assists with Pronger, Scotty, and Getzlaf out there. Kunitz even pitches in once in a while. I actually enjoy the bench time, watching how they cycle the puck around and try to make plays.

So far in 4 games for me as playmaker...5 goals, 1 assist. Halfway to my season goals target, but 58 assists to go for that target!!

Was thinking of changing my position to partially help get more assists, but I'm not sure how much you can change mid-season.

You know what else is impressive...the options and effect changing your stick has. You can else edit your skates which affect your ability.

Sniper with 2 goals and 0 assists in 5 games. I was promoted to the second line after the last game.

Authentic is the only way to play this mode for me. I'm playing 7-minute periods right now but I'm thinking of switching to 8. Also, I'm playing on All Star difficulty. What difficulty are you playing on to get those numbers Sudz? Do I suck that bad that I've only got 2 goals?

Looks like you're more of a natural sniper.

I find it hard to be a playmaker when your teammates don't shoot (RB solves this a bit) and sometimes they don't drive towards the goalmouth.

I'm a Playmaker and am playing on AllStar Authentic using 7 minute periods and had my first 2 goal game last night, after being bumped up to the 2nd line on the Wilkes-Barre Baby Penguins. 2k's game is very, very good this year, IMO, but this is pretty easily my favorite hockey game ever.

Looks like OTP ranked games are here and everyone wants to play them.

But OTP ranked means BAP mode, with fake players and the lame cameras.
