OK, I've begun sending invites.... a few have failed to issue, I am wondering if there are a max number of pending acceptances before they stop working because they seem to stop working all at once until I get accepts... In the meantime, I'll update the front page with the invites I've sent so I don't miss anybody. Will also catch up with additional members and updated numbers and profiles as time allows...
Are you allowed on more than 1 team? If so, I guess I could be on the DSP roster if there is a night you need a player. I joined a team of fellow "The Perfect Gamers" (ThePerfectGame.net) last night and we had a blast. We went 2-1 in three super games. I scored our first goal...talk about exhilarating
Our first game was chaotic because both teams wore blue sweaters. Be sure to check on each team's unis prior to the game starting or you will be in for a Chinese Fire Drill.

Lots of fun last night guys. We had our ups and downs (as did the EA servers) but overall, it's a blast to move from game to game with the same teammates. Totalling up stats and upgrading our players will only add to the experience. The mode has tons of potential and I hope EA can shore up there online situation sooner rather than later.
I think I am going to remove the positions from the front page and group players by Type so when you get the chance, shoot me a PM or follow up in this thread with whether your skater is a Sniper, Grinder, Off-D or Def-D, etc. It's not terribly important, but since the positions are so fluid, it will at least give us an idea of everyone's play styles.
Web, will get that invite out to you ASAP...
Diablo, I'm afraid I'm under the impression that we can only be on one team at a time. I can try to send you an invite anyway, if you like.

Great fun last night boys! My swollen eyes are showing the signs of sleep deprivation this morning.
Obviously we need to work on position play and communication, as we let those d****bags beat us pretty badly.
I'm more than content to fulfill the role of GOALIE and/or Defense, and plan to work on those positions in my offline practice.
We need more players in the club, so that we can be sure to fill out a team virtually any night/time. Let's get the sign ups going in here and get those invitations out.
I'll say it now:
Greatest Sports Game Ever.
#2 = MLB 2008.

I echo G7's sentiments. That was a blast last night. It's Rivals to the um-teenth degree. I think we'll develop into a solid squad over time once we start to communicate more and don't get out of position as much as we seemed to do last night. I think in that last game there was a problem with the voice because the only person i could hear was Zlax complaining about what a horrible goalie he is (tough to argue after that performance!!
) but i do think our greatest deficiency last night was our lack of chatter. Asking for help, telling teammates when you're open, talking position entering the offensive zone and more importanty in the defensive zone, etc. But again, as a first effort, we were in every game but one and i thought overall it went well and i enjoyed it immensely.
My apologies again for spending a bit too much time in the sin bin BUT it appears you guys step up the play when i'm in there because we didn't give up a single powerplay goal during my time in the box feeling shame.
At least i made up for it buy putting the biscuit in the basket a few times.
Oh, and Nivea???? Why not slap a Viagara patch on there two so we can use our sponsors together when necessary.

Once again, front page edits have been made
I removed the superfluous position and Goalie indicators.
I've separated the pending members for clarity.
I added the letter grade for your position. I'm back and forth on this as I don't intend for it to call out low grades (not that it appears too difficult to maintain a respectable grade). If you guys wish, I'll ditch it. Otherwise I'll probably update once a week or when convenient. I could similarly add stat lines if the consensus prefers.
I added a separate Goaltender section. I'll only list you in this area if you see Goal as a semi-regular endeavor and request listing here. That way, if you want to knock around once and a while without explicitly being listed here, that's cool.
I added our in-game names to the list so new members can map the jersey to the GT.
I'll try to get a team picture up next time we get a couple of games in.
If anyone has any other ideas for what they'd like to see here, let me know.

Thanks for the invite G7, but with our difference in time zone this may be a drag for me. I'll still try to jump on early, (usually after midnight EST) and take it from there. Usually you guys are in the middle of the action by then, but feel free to always fire up me an invite when I pop up.

How do you put your player name in? Isn't our player the same for offline and online? I looked all over last night in the DSP team lobby and couldn't find where to put my player name in. If it's the same as our single player one it should be T. Longmire. I made myself a sniper too. I look forward to getting some games in.
I am a patient boy.
I wait, I wait, I wait, I wait.

Scoop, we all did the same thing last night looking for how to do this. You don't enter anything. Basically once you finally enter a game you're player is on the team and when you return to the stats page, etc. it will all be loaded in there for you. It will be the player you created right when you first put the disc in not your actual BAP player, if there's a difference. How do you put your player name in? As we get more folks, we should be able to have two concurrent rooms going, and we can rotate and mix up the personnel as we go. Definitely consider giving it a shot with us, but if you wanted to look for a Pacific team, I'd understand.10spro wrote:Thanks for the invite G7, but with our difference in time zone this may be a drag for me.
Yes, I noticed my online name, so far, remains a slightly mangled version of my real nameRallyMonkey wrote:It will be the player you created right when you first put the disc in not your actual BAP player, if there's a difference.

I was hoping to change to Max Game something more representative of my GT. If it doesn't change after my next game I'll just chalk it up to another bad decision by the interface team

Oh well, I am glad to at least be on a team. Our squad had a blast last night. I was laughing out loud a few times...it was that much fun. We actually used a "human" goalie in our last two games and it made for some serious fun. This game really reminds me of why I still play video games in my late 30's. I had a LONG day yesterday but by the time I went to bed I was in a good mood.GameSeven wrote: Diablo, I'm afraid I'm under the impression that we can only be on one team at a time. So me and my B- Hockey Brain have been thinking about last nights fun, and I hope we get enough to try it again tonight. Personally, I learned that I suck at being a defensive player, so starting tonight I think I'll be working on my power forward play, as well as goalie play so I can jump in goal when nobody else wants to.
Communication - I agree with everyone who said it could be better. At a minimum, here's what I was thinking of:
- Center should be calling for the puck from the wingers when open for a one timer. I didn't hear that once last night. Our wingers just kept taking the low percentage shots and the center hoped for a lucky rebound.
- Defensmen should call for help when caught out of position. (I should have done that a lot!!)
- We should communicate before a faceoff outside the blue line and call out if the defense should take the puck in the offensive zone, pass it, or dump it in....
- Encouragement. I think we got quiet at the end of the night because we were either frustrated with our own play or the play of others. Let's see what we can do to keep it light and fun, even if the puck isn't bouncing our way.
- Coaching. Taking the above into consideration, if you see a player constantly out of position, taking bad shots, making bad decisions, etc., tell them! We're all big boys, and I for one would appreciate the help. I'm at risk to dropping to C+ if you guys don't help me out!!
Go team Nivea!!
