Drawing with Poland in 74 and not qualifying for the WC in Germany
Ray Clemence in 76 at Hampden
Getting knocked out of WC 82 in Spain without losing a game
Losing to a load of cheating Argies in 86 (still, who's got yer f**king Malvinas ?)
Getting royally splattered at Euro 88
Chris Waddle and Pearce missing pens at Italia 90
Graham Taylor, Carlton Palmer, Geoff Thomas, "Do I not like that", Phil Neal
Gareth Southgate at Wembley in Euro 96
More penalty disasters than anyone except the Italians
Steve Mclaren

...and that's just off the top of me head..

Looks like Bilic isn't a fan of the 3 Lions either :)

I hate to see a manager do this before a big game. OTOH it's all true.

Ok that goes with the permanent disappointment but still not enough to jump ship and support Canada.

Croatia only got to the last 8 in Euro 2008 proper....if I was Bilic, I'd shut me gob and concentrate on me own job, rather than telling others theirs. Maybe he should take the West Ham job, and see whether his mystical powers extend to making a silk purse out of a sow's ear.

So, who besides myself is going to the US v Trinny game in Chicago this wednesday night? Anyone? I'm hopeful my friend who went to Cuba makes it there... he might have accidentally shown his face on tv at one point during the game....

I'm in for sure. I may have an extra ticket as well, if anyone else in the neighborhood is interested.

That's some serious dedication--travelling 800 miles for a game against T&T!! I'm afraid I can't do the same.

And which is better evidence of being a commie in the eyes of Americans? Being spotted in communist Cuba, or being spotted in the stands of any old soccer match?

Sounds like it might not just be your mate in trouble - apparently the US team got such a sporting reaction from the crowd that they went back out on the pitch of their own volition and applauded the crowd.

I am hoping the US game will get me in the cheering mood. Then I can cheer for Ukraine. We have a game against Boratland Wednesday, I am hoping I can still cheer after that.

Like I said before, there's a number of reasons I don't support the England football team - mostly revolving around the asinine nationalism/jingoism of the 'Ingerlund' fans - garbage like 'Two World Wars One World Cup', jeering national anthems, and the fact that some wonderful fellow England fans beat me up outside Wembley in '93 - apparently didn't like someone of my hue supporting their national team. Also hated the way the fans and media treated John Barnes (my idol) every time he put on the England shirt.

I also can't the England players - John Terry, Rio Ferdinand, Frank Lampard, Rooney and yes even Gerrard - they're all c0cks, arrogantly swaggering around the pitch like they're actually good while they barely beat a bunch of part-timers. Sure they're great for their clubs but for Ingerlund they're overrated crap. Meanwhile the media and the bookies buy into it - right now England are 12-1 to WIN the next World Cup?!! WHAT??!?!

So yeah, some of the reasons I'm sipping the haterade when it comes to England. :) My hopes for most England matches are that no Liverpool players get injured.

Whoa... Fighting words. We still love you. What hue are you, I thought that word is used to refer to bright colors? :)

If it weren't for currently having a baby, I'd strongly consider Chicago (I think I would have gone to Cuba for that qualifier as well). Will miss the return leg in D.C. because of family in town...hoping for some good east coast qualifiers in the hexagonal.

Newcastle assistant manager Terry McDermott and and reserve team coach Adam Sadler quit today. McDermott had run training since Keegan quit.

Wouldn't be surprised if a Sunday League manager is running the first team by the weekend.

Take care,

Dunno. I've read that he's had attacking, flowing sides with Japan, which would please the Toon, and he also was successful at Fenerbahce.

But I think I prefer Zola just because of his experience in the English game. That said, I hope Ashley and the board think outside the box and just don't get another British blockhead retread like Souness or Allardyce.

Take care,
PK

Problem is...West Ham may have a foot ahead on the Italian. But Zico had great success in Japan indeed and likes to play attacking soccer as well. Zola knows London quite well obviously, and he may want to choose to stay there.

ere we go! ere we go! ere we go!

If anyone on the England squad is a DSP lurker then I beg of thee, no more sailing lobs into the box, look for Defoe and please win the f***** game. We'll see how it goes...

England is s***-stomping my Croats...in Zagreb. Looks like Bilic's price for that West Ham gig may be going down. This is not going to end well.

Heh, I guess Bilic's evil plan of fielding seven guys with the last name Kovac to confuse the English failed miserably.

Did you say something about the Czechs too? Not a good day for any of my Slavic bretheren.

Maybe, but at least one of them busted open Joe Cole's melon with an elbow. That's about the only defense they played all day. :)
